omg amazing!!!! the aperture on that thing is professional quality. I have serious lens envy. Which lens it is? I have a nikon so it'd be a different lens I'd need - but just in case I ever get a canon.

I did stupid amounts of research and everything said this was the best one for the money. I take mostly portrait shots since we do boutique modeling and this is wonderful for that. The only tricky thing is that it's a fixed lens. Getting used to no zoom took a minute.

@zippylef: Thanks! I will definitely look at those! I've gotten pretty good using AV mode with the kit lens but having more trouble with the 50 because our house is really small so I need to be in a different room to be far enough away to get more that just a face.
