I'm so mad! I lent my library card to my husband a few weeks ago when we were there because he left his at home. Today i go to check something out and apparently the item was returned damaged. The message i got was "Item barcode partially removed" or something similar. First I'm mad because i remember returning that item and what a pain in the ass it was since my library has a stupid instant check in thing that was giving me grief that day. I had to take it to the desk and i dinstinctly remember the guy at the desk saying "sometimes those things are tricky" and tossing it into the bin to be sorted and reshelved. I feel like that is probably when the stupid label fell off since the item was old.

Now i work at a library in a different city and I've seen some things that get returned in a pretty sorry state. I also know you can repair just about anything (that's my job for chrissakes) and it takes a LOT for an item to be declared a goner. In most cases we charge the patron $5 to repair it by either putting on a new cover, new barcode, glue the spine back together, etc. This was charge I got and I paid it.

Today I go to the library and I have a block on my account and a fine of freaking $60 to replace the item because it is "lost". WTF. I did not lose it, they did! Soooo mad!!!

I'm so mad at my husband for using my card and damaging the item in the first place, but now I'm PISSED at my library for losing it and having the balls to charge ME for it. Ugh. I guess I'll have an angry call to make this week.

Sorry for the rant, just had to get it off my chest. Stupid library.
