I'm in a hair rut and I'm ready to bust out. I've had the same hairstyle for the past three years and I'm getting really bored with it. Are there any bees with short curly hair who could tell me about your experience?
Photo is of my last hair cut. My hair has grown about an inch since then. I have very thick, curly, slightly coarse, fine hair.

I have thick, curly hair. I got a short pixie cut over a year ago and I still love it. I get a lot of compliments on it and it's very easy to style. Some days I think I miss the long hair, but I do NOT miss the maintenance.

I understand being bored with a style, but I think it looks great! Are you open to letting it grow longer?

@kentuckygirl: I had long hair a few years ago and it really weighs down my face, not to mention it's really heavy and hot going into summertime.

I have two friends with thick, curly hair who went short within the last year and they both look amazing!

No way you want to change your hair! You're actually my short hair cut inspiration.
I used to cut my hair in a chin length bob every summer. For the most part I wore it flat ironed because most people I worked with were not used to ethnic, curly hair. Each time I would grow it out I would cut bangs into it. With the hair growing at different speeds I had a fun, shaggy do at one point.
I love Halle Berry's cut from her show Extant. It was longer in the front for really pretty side swept bang action, while the back was completely off her neck. I'm not that brave to do a full on chop. Your hair really is fab!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh, thank you! I'm not sure I want to go totally pixie, but I do want to do something different. My hair grows pretty fast so if I hated it, it wouldn't be too long to have to deal with it.

@avivoca: I have tightly coiled, thick and coarse hair. I'm letting it grow out, but love a pixie. I would like to wear a pixie permanently, but it's all high maintenance! I don't think there's a such thing as low maintenance hair for those of us with extremely curly and coarse hair. I'll post some inspiration pics!

if you wanted to not go too short, maybe experiment with a deeper side part for more volume on top, and trim it kind of asymmetrically? but basically keep the same-ish length? sorry not very clear without a photo!
