I've only ever ordered something online once and picked it up in store, and it was just a box of diapers. I'm noticing more and more stores are offering online ordering for in-store pick up. For example Sam's Club offers this but since I've never tried it before for so many items I'm hesitant. Has anyone done this before for several items and had a good experience? I really like to browse and choose my own items but with kids who aren't a fan of the store, this would be a nice option.

We have done it a few times, Sam's club did a good job and we always buy the same things there anyway. In tried Target once and had a good experience but I like looking there! I tried Gap's reserve in store three times and every time they failed to reserve my item within the hour the website states so they sent me a 10% off coupon.

I use in store pick up for Target whenever I can. I think it saves me money, because it keeps me from buying things I didn't know that I needed. Or, when the store shows there is only a couple left in stock of something, I snag it so I can make sure to get it before it sells out.
Using it at places like Home Depot and Bed, Bath, and Beyond is nice because those stores can be so huge and it can be very difficult to find what you are looking for.
I've never had a bad experience, though a couple of times at Target, it took a few minutes because it was a small item and they couldn't figure out where the earlier shift put it behind the counter.

Our grocery store does it now, it's my favorite thing ever. I don't have to take a newborn and toddler to the grocery store and I haven't bought ice cream in weeks!

@Bao: we have used Sam's pick up service and it was awesome! They send you a text when it is ready. I ordered everything online and had the text sent to DH so he could grab it on the way home.

I've never picked up food items, but I always do store pick ups at crate and barrel and sometimes at target!

I use it all the time for babies r us and it's awesome. Very easy to use. I've also done walmart, which is a little more of a pain, but worked well.

I've used it a few time at Target. It's nice when there's a very specific item that I want and I don't want to be searching the shelves with a toddler and an infant.
