Early last week I noticed my belly was really red especially in the stretch marks and I was itching like crazy. I thought my skin was just dry so I lotioned up several times a day. My DH mentioned it to my doctor at my weekly appointment and he took blood to check for cholestasis. It got progressively worse to the point that I had to go back in Friday and the doc seems to think it's PUPPP, but is waiting on my last blood test to rule out cholestasis, in the meantime he prescribed a steroid cream which is category C and I don't want to use it. Doing research on PUPPP I got every home remedy I could find and have been trying in vain all weekend to get some relief. My arms are covered in the rash and it has spread to my back, knees, and ankles. I am miserable and can't take it. I'm 38 wks 1 day and thinking about asking my doctor about inducing next week since I can't function like this. Is this a stupid idea? I would be willing to wait if I can find some relief in the stuff I'm trying but I don't have a lot of hope. So far I've tried: grandpas pine tar soap, oatmeal baths, baking soda, Sarna lotion, oatmeal lotion, calamine lotion, Benadryl (pill and lotion) cortisone, dandelion root and nettles capsules. The only semi relief is Benadryl in pill form which just makes me pass out. I can't work like that and if I schedule the induction for next week I could take time off this week and continue trying the remedies I have and if it gets better I could always cancel or move the induction. Is that a crazy idea?
