Worth getting? My LO is 4.5 mo and loves it when we help her sit and/or gets to set up propped up in the Boppy on our bed. I feel like she would enjoy something like the bumbo but I've heard mixed things about if they're good for babies to sit in, and I also think she would only use it for a short time until she sat up on her own. We're really not big baby gear people (didn't own a swing, RnP, etc) but she just loves sitting so much!!

We got a Prince Lionheart seat which is similar and ended up not using it, partly because our OT advised against it. LO just sat with the Boppy a lot and eventually got really good at sitting up on his own!

@MenagerieMama: Our doctor didn't recommend the Bumbo, but we used it anyway. I found we only used it for like 15-20 minutes at a time, and unless our babe had an underlying hip or spine issue, I didn't think it would hurt. She loved it!

@spaniellove: yeah I feel like OTs don't like it! Do you know why? I don't know why I get so concerned. I ran around in those crazy walkers in the 80s as a child and turned out fine!

It was worth the effort I put into sitting with him while he was with the Boppy because now I can leave him on the floor and not worry!

We borrowed one from a friend which was good because M hardly ever used it.
I think J would like it but that he would be too big for a bumbo so I just bought a mamas & papas snug seat off craigslist today. It looks a little more versatile than the bumbo, but these things have a short shelf-life, so i'm glad I didn't spend much on it.

I can't imagine it's any better from a physiology stand point but my lo loves the Fisher Price sit me up seat. If nothing else it's got more room for chubby little thighs!

I would buy a used one. They are all plastic and can be wiped down with bleach. You can usually find used for $10-15

Why not just use a high chair? We never found the need for the bumbo.

I agree...buy a used one....we bought one off of craigslist and LO used it for a week before she started sitting up on her own!

We used a bumbo sometimes-a friend gave it to us and E loved the new perspective. I'm sure if you dump your kid in it a lot, it's bad for them, but E was crawling before 6 months and walking at 10, so it didn't affect her negatively. But she did really like sitting up for a change of pace. Buy a cheap used one!
