Did your initial postpartum menstrual cycle lengths vary?
Just curious if yours varied and how long did they continue to do that? And do you think nursing affected that?

Mine varied - 43 days, 38 days, 28 days. Nursing definitely affected it. Those first two cycles I was still nursing (or pumping) a lot. By the third, I was down to once a day and my cycle was much more normal.
ETA: Also, those first two cycles, my LP was 8-9 days, whereas it's normally around 12 days for me.

After DD1, they were pretty much like clockwork every 33 days or so. So far, I've had two periods after DD2 and I'm waiting on the third, but before I had kids it wasn't unusual for me to go up to 90 days between periods.

@Adira: Thanks. I"m sure nursing still is making mine weird. 24 day was the first cycle and now I'm at 31 days. Pre-pregnancy, I was 28 days always.

@agold I am still nursing and have had 3/4 periods. Similar to you my cycle was 28 days prior but now it is all over. 28 days for the first one, 33 days, and now 30 days. I am working on weaning (unsuccessfully) so I know mine has a lot to do with the ups and downs of nursing.

@MACSUNSHINE: Thanks for chiming in! Its nice to know yours were a little sporadic in length. My nursing sessions are getting fewer and my supply is going down. So I will be curious to see how this all plays out.

My kiddo was born 10/3/16, I only nursed/pumped for 6 weeks and my period is still totally wonky now almost 11 months later. Some cycles have been 28 weeks but others are more like 40. Pre-baby, I was clockwork every 28 days.

Curious about this! How far was everyone when their menstrual returned? How much were you nursing/ pumping at that point?

@Veggie: Mine returned around 10 months post partum. I was still exclusively breast feeding my girl, but she had been sleeping through the night since maybe like 7 months old or 8. I was pumping at work and I noticed my pumping supply dipping a bit, and my girl nursed for shorter periods of time (like a few minutes total) and then period came back. Ugh. She's still exclusively breastfed, but pumping supply has significantly diminished.

Mine were weird. Before kids, I had a 35-day cycle. I got my period back when DD1 was 9.5 months old. I had another almost two months later, another roughly six weeks after that, and the next cycle I was pregnant again.
This time around, I had a much better milk supply (and a much more voracious nurser, although I work full time and am still pump a lot), and I haven't had a period yet. DD2 will be ten months old on Friday.
