Who is your current internet service provider at home?
What's your speed and how much is it monthly? Does this include a wireless router?
Thanks!
We're cutting cable and I'm shopping around for ISP.

We use Comcast. We pay $130 / month for a cable - internet - phone package. Internet alone would cost around $60 (def cheaper to get a package deal). I'm not sure of the exact speed but it's the "blast" package which is supposedly a faster. We have our own router.

AT&T - I think $25. We referred some friends, which helped bring down our bill.

@BakerBee: oh cool, I didn't know they had just internet!
Boo! not in NY

Same as @pinkcupcake: we have Comcast. We have a bundle and pay $170 (includes the "fast" internet, phone, and cable including all the premium channels).

Comcast is the only ISP available in my area at the moment. I pay $45 a month for high-speed internet (I don't know how fast). It was more, but I called a few months ago and asked if they could give me a lower price, and they did (it would have been $60/month otherwise).
We bought our own wireless router and modem-thing.

My husband did cricket back in the day before we were married -- not sure if in New York. I think it was like $30 per month with no contract?
ETA: Just texted him and he told me he wouldn't wish Cricket on his worst enemy.. ends up the service was bad? I have no recollection of this, of course. He did say to look into mobile hotspots - you mentioned that you have unlimited data, I think. Have you thought about using your phone as a mobile hotspot?

We had Comcast forever, then switched to RCN for a cheaper package for just internet. The service was SO AWFUL and it was RIDICULOUS-- every piece of equipment they gave us failed and we had to go to the RCN in the sketchy neighborhood to swap it out. Over and over again. And service was so spotty, it was ridiculous. It was like we were paying a lower cost for NO internet. Finally we just cancelled and went back to Comcast. They had a special package for people switching from RCN.. haha! I think we pay about $50-$70/month for basic cable and the faster (but not fastest) internet.

@mrs. wagon: haha this is what I'm fearing right now. Switching to a different ISP to save like $5-$10. But having issues or paying for modem rental, etc or any other misc fees. If I should just stay with FIOS which is $49.99/month. Which doesn't sound far off from what everyone is paying.

@locavore_mama: if we had fios available we would totally switch to that. But we don't. We learned our lesson the hard way, but luckily came out the other end with cheaper Comcast bills anyway. We use DVR on Aereo and use Netflix streaming and Amazon Prime streaming. We got a roku 3 to navigate between all of these. We like it so far. I miss digital cable and DVR, but Aereo is o.k.

I'm not much help, but I'll add in anyway:
I have Google Fiber.
We pay $120/month, and it includes ridiculously fast internet, cable, a wifi router, DVR (with 2 terabytes and records 8 shows at a time), and a Nexus 7.

@AmandaB8: that is a really good price!!
@mrs. wagon: what's Aereo? How does DVR work if you don't have cable?? Is there a monthly fee or just a one time hardware purchase?

we have fios. we bundle with cable, but they can do internet only I believe.
our bill is $118, includes HD TV channels, a DVR (15/month), a set top box downstairs (11/month) and internet. so for the second tier tv package and internet is around 95.
eta: the modem and router is one and the same and was included to my knowledge

also, i called to ask fios what they could offer me in terms of promotions. i said i was considering switching to cox (bluff) and they offered me free movie channels for a year AND $10 off my bill each month for being a great customer or whatever!

FiOS package for phone, internet, and cable for $110 per month (tax included). We get 200 channels, but it's not HD and we only have 1 box. Internet is 25/50mps. We really like it so far!

I have verizon fios and pay $50 for internet only and no contract. I have to pay an extra $10 if I want faster speeds. I really dislike verizon and have not been satisfied with my internet connection speeds. They throttle a lot, but that happens with almost all providers. I had the same speeds with Comcast before and had less issues. Plan on switching back since they have us a $30 per month offer recently.
