I'm an introvert, and DH is far and away an extrovert, so it'll be interesting to see how DS ends up (he's 7 mo now, so he still likes everyone.)

I don't really know, I mean, I classify my son as an introvert, but then, when we were on vacation he made friends at the beach and the dad asked me if he makes friends everyhere he goes...and he does. But it could change in a heart beat.

I'm not sure if being a social butterfly means they are extroverts! I'm a social butterfly but I'm an definitely an introvert. I'm just an outgoing introvert but I need to be alone to recharge.

Me - introvert
DH - extrovert
LO1 - introvert (guessing)
LO2 - extrovert (guessing)

I'm an introvert, dh is borderline but probably more extrovert. Dd is an introvert. DS is very very extroverted.

DH is an extrovert and so is DD. I am probably more an introvert, and DS is too young to tell yet!

We are both introverts! DH is an introvert through and through; I think I am a learned extrovert meaning I can act pretty extroverted and fairly comfortable with it, but at heart I am an introvert too.

I can see that DD is like me. But then again her "introvert" side may just be b/c she's still young and not super into playing with others. She is an extrovert b/c we expose to her many ppl from the start and she has no qualms about being in new places with a lot of ppl.

@regberadaisy: Ah than this is a very interesting situation.

So DH and I are playing with the idea that everything is inherited ... even parts of personality (being extrovert or introvert). It's interesting to see two introverts have two extroverts! I wonder if the extrovert "gene" is recessive. Sorry silly thoughts, just thinking out loud!

I was an extrovert until I had young children. Now I'm more introverted (like on the verge of tears if I go an entire day without a chance to be alone) but I'm hoping my desire and ability to have friends with grow with my children. DH is and introvert.

DD1 is more introverted as well. She is social and friendly but doesn't mind staying home most of the day and will go sit in her room alone if we have friends over whose personalities don't quite jive with hers.

DD2 is extroverted. She will go to anyone and everyone and is very free with her waves and smiles.

@Raindrop: i don't think outgoing = extroverted, reserved = introverted necessarily either. my bil is outgoing but very much introverted. he needs time to recharge alone after lots of interaction with people. someone else i know is reserved but needs to be around big groups of people.

so i think extroverted is more how you get your energy, which is being around other people, activities, social events, etc. introverts get their energy from recharging alone.

and along the lines of genetics, i don't know how we got a son that is so so extroverted. hah if we had more kids i guess we could tell if it was dominant or recessive. but my sister is very extroverted so maybe he has some of the same genes??

Dh and I are both introverts. But when I was little I was definitely more of an extrovert. I think middle school is when I started to realize people didn't like others who were loud and obnoxious and my personality slowly started to change.

DH is suuuuuuper introverted. I'm like 50-50. Sometimes I think I'm extroverted at heart but too shy or lazy to go out all the time, haha. Our son is on the extroverted side as far as we can tell. He's a little reserved with new people. but if he knows you, he loves you and gets really hyped up. Boy has waaay too much energy.
