iPhone users, do you have a 5c or a 5s? Which did you choose and why? Trying to make some decisions over here

I have a 5s. I chose it because Verizon was running a special so I got $100 off of it. I also really wanted the gold.

@Leialou: I end up putting a cover/case on it so I'm not super concerned about the color. I just don't know if the features of the 5s are that much better or really anything I even need?

5s, because in NZ there wasn't that much of a price differential between the two and the specs seemed like they would be more compatible with future developments.

I went with the 5s because the internal hardware is a lot better than the 5c. Also I like the fingerprint scanner as well as the feel of the phone itself. The 5c felt cheaper to me because of the plastic.

Ditto to everything @mrstal posted! I also had to commit to another 2 year contract so I preferred the more updated hardware

@LindsayInNY: The microprocessor on the 5s is 64 bit which means it will be able to handle graphics better and be much more future proof. It's also faster. It has a co processor for specifically graphics, which means that graphics and the sensors will work much better and quicker. It also has dual flash on the camera and you can record in slow motion on the 5s, which you can't do on the 5c. This is all courtesy of DH because I had no idea about all this. When I went to buy I was leaning towards the 5c but he insisted the 5s was much better for me because of the above stuff.

@MrsTal: That's what I figured... Apparently my parents called DH last month or so asking what phone I would like and what color. He said 5S. They bought me a white 5C for Christmas. I don't even think it's returnable though...

5s. The 5c just feels cheaper to me. I think the 5s is supposed to be faster

@LindsayInNY: depending on your carrier you might be able to return it. Many carriers allow you to try a phone for a certain period of time and return it if you are unhappy with it.

@MrsTal: The box hasn't even been open. I just don't have a receipt or anything to show when it was bought. I have to imagine it's in the account somehow/somewhere though?

I believe 5c is equivalent to the 5 in terms of hardware. So it's 1 generation "old" but I don't think it makes a huge difference. I think you'll start to notice differences once the next iOS update comes out.

@sunny: I have a 4 and haven't even updated to iOs 7 so I'm guessing anything will seem like a big improvement!

I have the 5c!!!! I love it, I have the pink/coral color, and I have a clear case on it to show it off :-). To me the extra $100 wasn't worth the fingerprint scanner and "updated software". This phone works great and I have no complaints. To me it's a win win.
Also I have to completely disagree with people that say it feels "cheaper". I mean yes it's plastic, but it's. Very good quality sturdy plastic. Not cheap by any means...

@MrsBrewer: I have the 4 in white so DH told my parents 5S in white. They got me a 5C in white. I don't even know what bells in whistles come on the S versus the C. I don't use it to watch videos or listen to music. It's a phone, internet and apps to me, thats' it. I don't even know if I can return it either which is why I kinda figure the 5C is probably fine for me.

@LindsayInNY: Congrats! The only reason I got the 5S was for the better camera. I use it as a main camera for LO.

DH has the 5c and I will be getting one when my contract is up for renewal in February. Therees a $100 price difference and only 3 things that are on the 5s and not the 5c.
We are broke so we just couldn't justify the extra $100.

I had the 5c for a few weeks and upgraded to the 5s. I actually like the look of the 5c better which is why I got it. The reason I returned it? The darn thing was so slippery I couldn't hang onto it. The first night it slipped out of my hand while I was breastfeeding and nailed LO square in the forehead. I felt AWFUL. The first 24 hours I literally dropped it 20 times. No surprise that after this abuse I began having problems with the screen working properly. Eventually I got a case for it and this solved the problem but by then the screen was having issues so back it went. I notice no difference in processing times between the two. If you Google iPhone speed comparison you can find YouTube videos that demonstrate how little difference there is in the processing speed. The finger print scan only works about 2/3's of the time and can be frustrating too. Truthfully I think the 5c is great once you put a case on it. I only upgraded because of the problems I was having and the 5s is what the rest of my family had.

I have a 5c and I kind of wish I had gotten the 5s only because I can't find seem to find any cute cases. I got the 5c because I figured for the same price I could get double the memory and figured the other extra features on the 5s didn't really matter that much to me. Basically I really like the phone but like @tillma: said it's slippery and need a case for it but the only one that I've seen that I trust to fit is the stupid Apple one (Which I'm not a big fan of) I ordered a case online and it totally did not fit correctly...

@tillma: @dojo: My parents gifted me a case with the phone so hopefully that helps things! I got a white 5C with a pink case (instead of getting a colored 5C)
