Not getting lo a kitchen this year but trying to brainstorm for next year! Do you think at 2 it wouldn't be worth it?

I think you can still get one! DD is almost 4 and still plays in the kitchen. It is always a big hit for play dates, too.

I would think they would play with a kitchen for years- I mean, as long as they engage in imaginative / role playing kinds of play, right?

@Silva: I would think so too!@Andrea: ha all our friends have them and Lo loves playing with them on play dates! We jut don't have the space right now considering all his other toys!

Definitely not too old, my 5 year old still plays with her kitchen!

no way! I honestly thought people getting 1 year olds them were a little on the early side.
I got a play kitchen for Christmas when I was 4.

I hope not! We got one for our 5 and 3 year-old for Christmas based on how much they play with the one at their babysitter's house!

Yay! So glad to hear this!@sorrycharlie: the number of ppl getting their Los kitchen for first birthday is what made me nervous he wouldn't get use out of it if I waited til 2!

In my experience, kids up to 6-7 love them some play kitchen!! Plus, it's great because with large paper & imagination you can turn it into other stuff

I hope not, I just bought one for my son who will turn 2 on New Year's Eve. I don't think he would have enjoyed it as much when he was 1. He has only recently started doing "pretend" play, especially in the kitchen.

No way! I think one is a little early for one, but we're getting A one for Christmas anyways.

We are hoping she uses it until shes at least 5 or 6! My nieces are about that age and still love playing with theirs.

Mine hasn't been ready for one until around now, he'll be 2 next month.

My 4/5 year old students love the play kitchen in our classroom!

@sorrycharlie: I think the same thing. We are getting one next year and she will be 21 months. I think then it will be perfect.

Not at all. My LO is just starting to really love his at 2.5.

I'm one who got it early at 14 months for LO. He loves the one at daycare, so getting him one to grow into made sense for us.

We got my 20 month old one and I'm hoping he will enjoy it well past 2, so no!

My 7 yo niece plays with our play kitchen when she comes over!

We have 2 LOs and my son who is 2.5 is constantly telling everyone that he wants a kitchen (and slippers, ha) from Santa! He is really into helping in the kitchen (and lately is surprisingly helpful) and loves pretend play (listening to him from the other room while he is pretending is seriously the best entertainment). Sadly, the reason he is just getting it now is because I couldn't convince my husband to get one until we had a daughter too! My vote is that it's a great 2 year old gift!

I was just at PBK and saw a boy about 4-5 y/o having so much fun playing with the play kitchen! I think it should last a few years?

My daughter played around with her kitchen before two, but is just now really getting into the imaginative play part of it. I think that two is the ideal age.

We got ours secondhand from a local family whose daughter was 12! I'm sure she was hanging onto it for sentimental reasons more than she was actually playing with it, but no...2 is definitely not too old.

I volunteered at the church daycare before I had LO and their amazing play kitchen/ dining area kept the kids occupied for a while. They loved it!!! The kids who enjoyed it most were 2-8.

I think it depends on your child more than age. My son uses his kitchen at home as a storage shed for his trains, but at daycare, he plays with it properly.

I remember playing with the play kitchen we had up until I was about 9 or so. I have a sibling four years younger than me though, so I often played "down" to her level. My parents moved it outside when we were a bit older and it was great fun to make mud pies in the oven and huckleberry and weeds soup on the stove.

Definitely not too old! Kids usually really, really get into imaginative play around 3 anyway. My 5 year old still plays with ours and I imagine she will for at least another 1-2 years more!

Not at all! DD got hers at 1, but I definitely could have waited until she was a little older.

Nope. I think you are good! My 4 & 7 year old niece still play kitchen (restaurant) with theirs!

The only reason I am getting my one year old a play kitchen is for him to pull himself up on!
