This is my first pregnancy, so I have no gauge for what's normal, but was your baby's activity in utero any indication of how he/she is as a baby/toddler? If so, I think we're going to have one active kiddo

I've been wondering the same thing. DH already said the baby is going to be hyperactive.

I had a very mellow baby on the inside and mellow on the outside
grapefruit / 4819 posts
I had a super chilled out baby on the inside and she has been a super chilled out baby on the outside! She would move around a bit but I never got crazy kicks or punches to the rib cage or bladder etc, and she never kept me up at night with her movement. She's nearly a year now and has been a very easy, relaxed baby so maybe there is some correlation!

Hmmm... Not sure yet. She wasn't sedate in the womb and she's definitely not sedate now. Maybe it equates a little? Curious to see other responses.

Great question! I'm curious about this too. My baby has a tendency to sleep during to day but keep me up during the night with lots of movement. Hopefully this is not indicative of what it will be like once born.

@Sadieloo: I posted the exact same thing when I was pregnant! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/active-inside-the-womb-active-outside-the-womb-myth-warning-gross-photo
LO is here and 6.5 months... and is just as busy as he was in utero! My stomach was so hot and painful from his acrobatics but now I love watching him crawl, roll, and karate chop his toys

@scg00387: whoa that picture from your thread is amazing! I love watching my belly move in little waves, but I haven't had anything like that. Do you remember what week you were in with that picture?!

Dd: chill in the womb, chill as a baby, wild toddler
DS: wild in the womb, chill baby..
kiwi / 726 posts
@scg00387: LOL. Thanks for sharing! Maybe it's a boy thing. I'm only 24 weeks, so while he's moving a ton, the karate chops haven't been too bad yet. I can't complain though, I love feeling him move and knowing that he is kicking along
And OMG! That is some attempted escape artist you have! Woah! I can't believe he made your bellybutton bleed. Ouch!

Lo was cozy and snuggly inside, but her kicks were so strong it really hurt. On the outside she is cuddly and very strong. She hits her physical milestones like two months ahead.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
A held her own tummy town disco every night at about 11pm and was just the same on the outside for the first few weeks/months.

Ooh I sure hope so! LO has been a super chill baby in utero. Maybe she'll be a lazy sleepyhead
blogger / nectarine / 2600 posts
I fear this. Drakey was quite calm inside and is still a rather calm boy if you ask me. This one is all over the place, Im fearful Im in for it this time and this child is the one who inherited my ADHD

I had a super chill baby in utero and she's a wild child, daredevil since she started walking.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
Mine hiccuped a lot inside, and still does outside. She was also VERY active, and that holds true on the outside as well.
pineapple / 12234 posts
#1: relaxed in utero, laid back as a baby but also reached every milestone early
#2: WILD in utero, but not so active once she was out. She does kick her legs a lot - which she did when I was pregnant with her too.
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
Mine did a lot of somersaults in the womb and kicked a ton. Now he's a year old, flailing and climbing all over all the time - never stops moving. Has been like that almost since he was born - at least since he could roll.
pomelo / 5258 posts
My baby got violent hiccups about three times a day on the inside. They drove me nuts and were almost painful. When she was born she still had hiccups with the same frequency. That was pretty cool to see on the outside.
Generally she was pretty chill inside but pretty active on the outside.

My son was pretty chill in utero-- nothing shocking or wild. He isn't 'hyper' but he is extremely physical. He lifted his head up the first night he was born... walked at 9 mos... can kick a soccer ball harder than I can at 2.5 years.
Honestly I think how much you perceive their movement depends on their position and your body.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
My baby was so mellow in utero...I hardly had any kicks...she would just slowly roll around and lightly push around...and she was such a mellow baby too. Now she is a energetic toddler but still very cautious/careful
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
LO was insanely active in utero and already crazy strong now. She was holding her head up before we even left the hospital. Now she just refuses to sleep and wants things done on her own time.. At 6 weeks.

The only things that were obvious with my DD is her hiccups and kicking. She loves to kick and hiccups often.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
my baby was pretty calm in utero, she used to do these slow movements with her arms and legs (i.e. not a lot of kicks and jabs), and she did that on the outside too.
pomelo / 5469 posts
LO is not here yet, but I'm really interested in this thread! I didn't realise how she is at the moment, in utero, might correspond with how she'll be on the outside! Fingers crossed we've got a mellow baby
grapefruit / 4823 posts
He was very active on the inside and goes non-stop from the moment he wakes until the moment he goes to bed!
we'll see how #2 does, she's much calmer/relaxed on the inside..we'll see how she is when she's on the outside. i'm hoping shes calm!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
Chloe was extremely actively in the womb! Sometimes her kicks would wake me up in the middle of the night. She almost never stopped moving around.
She's the same now. Never. Stops. Moving.
honeydew / 7687 posts
@delight: 36 weeks or so? He ran out of room a little flyer that thankfully and things calmed down

M was pretty mellow on the inside and is crazy active on the outside!
pomegranate / 3398 posts
Yep. My last two LO's were crazy busy in the womb and are very active and busy outside. My oldest LO was very mellow and at 10yrs old now she is still super chill.
kiwi / 726 posts
Really interesting, everyone! Thanks for sharing your experience. Only time will tell with this LO
grapefruit / 4066 posts
yep! I used to get almost nauseous by how much LO rolled, kicked, and moved in utero...and now at 7 months old, the kid still doesn't stop moving!
pineapple / 12802 posts
I've totally wondered the exact same thing! If it is, we are going to have a wild little man!
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
nope. charlie wasn't that active because he was big -- too little space i think! but he was an active little boy.
olive was more active i think because she was small -- a lot of space to move! but she is much calmer and reserved.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
DS was super active in utero, even though he was a big baby (8 lbs 11 oz) and I carried small... and he def is an active lil baby!
loves kicking and standing and etc.
pear / 1616 posts
my LO seemed super sleepy when i was carrying her. the week before my water broke i had to take a couple non stress tests because i wasn't feeling her move very much. she was fine but the nurses had some trouble waking her up during the non stress tests! now as a baby she sleeps a couple hours more than the average baby her age. so, so far she's been the same in utero and out.
