I'm trying to brainstorm ideas for Elliot's first birthday party (wahhhh!) and I think it would be really fun to do a You Are My Sunshine theme. When I searched it on Pinterest there are a TON of cute ideas but a lot of them seem kind of girly. I know that it'd be really easy to adapt most of it for a boy but does it seem like the theme is overall girly?

No! I'm doing it, too, if we decide on a party:)) I always sang "you are my sunshine" to my pregnant belly and we use it to sleep all the time. I can't think of a better theme!
@mrsjazz used it for her daughter, but I'm sure she would say it is neutral. Maybe she can share pics again?
You can make it girly...& you can tone it down and make it boyish! -

@Running Elley: @TurtleDoves: Definitely unisex. The only thing that made our party a little more "girly" is that we used pom poms in a lot of the decor. Everyone loves sunshine, go for it!

@Running Elley: I hear you on big due to necessity. We are only inviting family to R's baptism, a couple really good family friends, and one couple of our friends, god parents, and we have 50 invited. Crazy!! Granted 11 of the 50 are kids but still. I don't even want to think how many will be for her 1st bday. Which will be family and close friends, easily 70 people invited.

I don't think so but I'm not a fan of the theme in general. It is just a personal preference thing. If you love it then go for it!

I think it's definitely gender neutral - I'm thinking of doing something similar for Sadie, but adding in lady bugs (why am I thinking about her first birthday party already?!). I love the party that @mrsjazz posted!

Not girly at all! My mom used to sing it to me all the time, they even played it as the last song at my wedding, so it has a special place in my heart. I think it would be an adorable party theme!
