My MIL & FIL belong to the DVC with a home resort of the Beach Club. It's something we are considering down the road. Right now only the Animal Kingdom Villas are available through Disney and I really don't want my home resort to be there.

My parents are! Their home resort is Saratoga. You don't have to stay at your home resort, they rarely do it's just easier to get rooms farther out at your home resort.

@sorrycharlie: I know, it's just that the Animal Kingdom Villas are so far away from everything but the Animal Kingdom! I love walking to EPCOT from the Beach Club or taking the boat to the Magic Kingdom from the Wilderness Lodge Villas.

@swedishfish: I'm not a member but it's something I have considered. I actually started a thread a few weeks ago about it, maybe some of the comments might help you ... http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/disney-vacation-club#post-1098222

@swedishfish: oh no! I mean it's easier to book a room farther out (like further away from the date of travel) but you can actually use your points anywhere! or maybe that's what you meant, but I misunderstood, lol?
their home resort is Saratoga Springs but we usually stay at Wilderness Lodge.

I don't, but my good friend has her home at Animal Kingdom. I'd look on re-sale sites and also look where you can get the most points for your dollars. The benefit of your home resort is that you can book (I think) something like a year out. This is great for high-travel times but depending on when you want to go, it might not be that big of a deal to get a different resort. I know my friend has no problems staying at the other places.

@sorrycharlie: yes, usually my in-laws can get their home resort with no problems but I'm a teacher so I have to travel at popular times. I would rather stay at the Beach Club but, if my home resort is the Animal Kingdom Villas, I might have trouble getting into the Beach Club at popular vacation times. I guess? I'll have to talk to my MIL tomorrow.
@T-Mom: ooooh, thanks! I totally missed this thread!
