On Modern Family this week, Gloria talks about how for her family, yelling = love. In my family, yelling did not equal love. But there was still yelling. 
With our kids so far, there's been no real yelling. Maybe voices get raised from time to time, but no yelling. I am not a believer that yelling = love. But I can see that perspective.
Is anyone in your extended family a yeller? For your family, does yelling = love?

My dad's a yeller. DH and I don't yell. I raise my voice every once in a blue moon

My dad's not a teller.... but his voice is so loud and he repeats himself because he talks so fast he knows nobody ever understands him, so you could mistake his normal talking as yelling.
But no we're not yellers. I'm crazy sensitive and hate when people yell at me. Thank goodness I never had to deal with that at home.

In my childhood, yelling was ubiquitous. I don't think we really raise our voices. Maybe like once in a semi-dangerous situation.

My mom is a yeller. She gets really worked up over little things and yells about one thing and then changes to another. One of the reasons we can't spend too much time together. I love her because she is my mom but she stresses me out really badly.

My mom used to yell at us all the time... Usually for no real reason. She was a very frustrated person I guess and thats all she really knew what to do. I try not to yell but I guess I have a couple times... Definitely not proud of it and I still feel bad about it

Yes, my dad is a yeller, I definitely got it from him... we were well known for our yelling matches when I lived at home. Now mostly I just yell at the dog and cats when they get into trouble.

My aunts and grandmother get loud and yell. My stepmom did as well. I cannot stand yelling. To me it does not equal love. My husband and I have yelled at each other once in our relationship and it was awful. We work at arguing in a calm way, even when we are angry. We also don't cuss at each other.

My mom's a yeller. Drives my sister and I nuts, but I find myself picking up the same bad habit when I tell my LO not to do something sometimes. But I catch myself and stop. I really need to be more conscious of that - I don't want to be a yeller, I don't think it's effective at all.

I love Modern Family. We haven't watched this week's episode yet, though.
We both come from quiet families. We get loud when my Irish family is all together but no one yells.

me and my dad.... we can yell at each other and freak my mom out and then 2 seconds after we're fine. mom doesn't get it.
neither does my husband (yet) which is bad since sometimes i yell at him expecting him to yell back and he doesn;t. we're working on it.
for me (and my dad) yelling=love
now if only i could get my husband to believe me. y mom believes me bt doesn't really like it

I come from a family of yellers. I just recently realized it can partly be attributed to large amounts of background noise!

My dad was a yeller and it was definitely NOT out of love. He yelled to instill fear and it worked...I'm STILL scared of my dad! LOL. The crazy funny thing is that he is a total mushball when it comes to LO.

We're loud for sure. My dad's voice carries through everything. I can hear him having a cell phone conversation while I'm having a convo with my mom on her cell phone while standing in opp ends of the beauty warehouse they manage... LOL.
I'm definitely the LOUD one in our relationship, but I don't yell and if I do - it's not out of love!!

My immediate family are def not yellers... we're more "tense jaw of silence withdraw-ers".
Now my mom's brother's family are def yellers and it has taken me years to get used to it. They just are louder than my family and I used to think people were mad all the time, but that's how they communicate.

My brother thinks yelling = love, and my parents and I are baffled by it. We don't yell. I was taught (as was my brother) that yelling is for specific circumstances, like emergencies/getting someone's attention outside. But my brother didn't think my parents loved him because they wouldn't yell at him. What the heck?
