It is not a public holiday in CA!

The kids are out of school, but it's a "teacher workday". I think a lot of public offices are closed, though.

We don't have it anymore- we have Indigenous People's Day, which I like. Also, yes, it's a public holiday.

DH is off of work, which is all that matters to us!

I'm in CA, too. I remember we used to get the day off school, but now we get Cesar Chavez Day off instead.

Our daycare is closed, but neither Hubs or I have the day off. Hubs is taking a vacation day to stay home with Xander.

Most private employers don't have the day off. We used to, but now it's a floating holiday which I much prefer!

Schools are closed so I'm off, but DH is working. It's so weird, I've never lived in a state where schools were closed on Columbus day.

I get the day off because I work for a bank, but I don't know anyone else who has it off. I'm using the day to go to an eye doctors appointment.

The other Washington (DC) has also retaken it as Indigenous People's Day. However, Monday is my regular day off, so, it is a float holiday for me.

DH works in banking and has the day off. I do not.

@Mamaof2: Yup. Federal Gov calls it Columbus Day, but, DC City Gov calls is Indigenous People's Day.
