I had a baby boy 5 days ago. We are home now and I dont want to swaddle like in the hospital. We bought a woombie convertible. Hes wearing a short onesie (short sleeves and no legs) with a sleeper over top (long sleeves and feet) with the woombie on top. We also have a hat on him.
Should we add a blanket on top? Is he warm enough? Too warm? House is set to 22 celcius.

First of all, congratulations to the new addition!
If you really want to know about the temp, I'd do what they do in the hospital and just check the temp occasionally when changing the diaper.
But the layers you're describing is what my kids slept in and temp was always ok. Also if he's to cold he will probably cry/fuss.

Congratulations! Nope, doesn’t sound too warm. I always feel the back of their neck to check their temp and I let them wear a hat for about the first week and then I get nervous they’ll overheat and I take it off for body temp regulation.
Like @Pumuckl: said, he’ll let you know if he is too cold and it’s always better to be in the slightly cooler side than warmer for babies.

A reminder - Don’t use hands or feet to judge body temp - they are always cold at first because their circulation hasn’t matured. Check chest or back of neck. As long as they don’t feel cold or sweaty, you’re good

The rule of thumb that I always went by when my babies were infants was that they should wear one more layer than you. So, when I wasn't sure if my baby was warm enough, I imagined what I'd be comfortable in and then added a layer. Congrats!

My babies always slept in two full layers at least in our house which was 70-77 at night. Sometimes fleece, sometimes not. I wouldn't do a hat at night for concerns of it slipping off or down in front of his face.

Also came back to add that you wouldn’t need the blanket. 22 is quite warm. And if you ever feel his hands in the night and they feel like ice cubes, don’t worry, he’s fine! I remember feeling my first kid’s hands and thinking I needed to put gloves on or something and I put little coma on for about a week, but then it freaked me out so I took them off. As long as they’re comfy and their core is warm then they’ll be good.

@Umbreon: a onesie and woombie sound fine. I wouldn't even add the hat. I was always told to dress the baby similar to me. But when unsure it is better for a baby to be cold than over heat
