Is it bad to give Tylenol daily?

Ok so ped said that it's ok to give tylenol as needed as long as the dose/amt is what is recommended for LO age/weight. I told her about the weeks I've been giving it at least once a day and she didnt seem concerned, and said just to make sure it's no more than every 4hrs at the dose I'm using...

She said H's fever, while not that high, was too high for normal teething, so she must be fighting off a little something. Ped said I can go ahead and give tylenol to her every 4 hours for the next couple of days or can wait to see if her fever climbs and give it to her then, whatever I'd rather.

She also said that low to mid 99s on the rectal thermometer is a normal temp. So I feel super dumb I thought that was a low grade fever!!!! Either way, I never gave her tylenol if she acted ok- just when she fussed and pulled at her ears a lot. She said that 98.6 on an underarm temp is normal and you add a degree for accuracy. I knew that about non-rectal temps but never put it all together.

Soooo I gave her Tylenol at 2 and I'll give it to her again at bedtime. No guilt.

@PrincessBaby: don't feel dumb I thought that was a low fever until my pedi said the same thing too! Hope she feels better soon!

@PrincessBaby: The differences always confuse me, still. LOL

I LOVE the Seattle's Children's Fever page! I keep it bookmarked & use it to reference for when P is sick.

Lavender oil AND Peppermint oil are both good for fevers & when they aren't feeling well too! I would put a drop of Lavender oil in the corner or P's crib when she isn't feeling well & it helps her sleep!

@MrsMccarthy: Aw thanks for saying that. I honestly didn't realize that once a day was that bad! DD fell asleep having her bedtime bottle tonight and I just put her down in her crib, so I'm not sure how difficult it will be tomorrow, but I'm definitely going to try much harder to limit her tylenol...probably write it down on our calendar.
