This morning, DD (almost 2) got out of bed, gave me a hug, and proceeded to sit on the carpet as I had brought her a small bowl of dry Cheerios. She didn't want it so I put it on her table and she grabbed her sippy cup. In the process, she knocked over the bowl and Cheerios went flying, which is no big deal, it was an accident. When I asked her to help me clean it up, she said no. I asked her again and she defiantly said no one more time. I told her that she had to help me pick it up together before we could read her book and then she started sobbing. SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH.

I wanted to give her a time out (as I always do for disobedience) but DH felt badly that it was first thing in the morning.

IF you give your toddler time outs, what would you have done?
