Does anyone have framed art hanging over your LO's crib? I ordered a set of prints off Etsy and want to put them over my daughter's crib, but my mom told me I shouldn't in case they fell or were knocked down. I guess I hadn't really thought about the safety factor. (Shame on me, bad mama!!)

I have a large mirror over LO's crib. DH secured it with drywall screws and it doesn't seem like it'll go anywhere. It's pretty heavy though, so I'm still iffy if I want it hanging over the crib or not. I figure smaller stuff is fine as long as it's out of reach

I have 3 tall canvases over C's crib. They're light and secured to the wall, so I'm not too worried.

I didn't because I was scared they would fall. However, in our town there is a mysterious "boom" that can sometimes shake the neighborhood like a small earthquake. If that weren't the case I would feel comfortable hanging something pretty light over the crib.

I have a watercolor that my aunt made DS framed and above his bed but it's well out of reach - even though he is standing up in the crib and has been for a while!

We do, and I just moved the crib away from the wall so if they did fall by some freak accident, they would fall to the floor and not into the crib.

We bought a big wooden monogram to hang over her crib. We never have earthquakes here and it will be screwed into the studs so I'm not worried about it.

We didn't, but I was thinking of it and found earthquake-safe picture hooks, which would make the picture more secure than just a regular picture hook.

As long as they are secured to the wall firmly (as in even you have trouble taking it off) it shouldn't be an issue.
I decided I didn't want to deal with it, so we didnt put anything above his crib. I had thought about a vinyl though!

A week ago I would've said no problem, but yesterday one of our framed pictures (that I thought was hammered securely into the wall) came crashing down for no apparent reason. So, I'd err on the side of caution and stick with either vinyl or lightweight, non-framed canvas.

Yep, we have a painting DH's grandma did hanging over her crib. It is secured with a proper screw (not a nail) and there is a gap so that if it were to fall, it would slide to the ground.

I put a decal up just so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I've seen lots of cute nurseries with pictures/canvases over the crib, but I am personally too worried about them falling, so we are using a decal instead.

Hmm, I suppose we could always take the glass out of the frames?

I'm going to - just ordered the prints a few days ago.
I'm going to do the same thing that John and Sherry on Young House Love did to secure art from their daughter's prying hands: in addition to hanging it on a nail, I'm going to line the back of the frame and wall with Command Velcro Strips so that they're super secure on the wall.
