I just want to make sure the tree I ordered is okay and not in need of a return, but it's close enough to Thanksgiving that I'll just leave it up! Is it too early? Too crazy?

I'm dieing to to put my tree up, but we're going to cut downa real tree this year and the tree farm isn't open yet. I say go for it, get in the spirit asap!

@prettylizy: Ooh, do you do the craziness where they let everyone go and they run around looking for a tree to tag? Getting a tree to cut down is so much fun!

It's not too crazy if that's what you want. You won't be the only person with their tree up already.

It is absolutely not too early! DH says we can't do it until the radio switches over to Christmas music, so I keep checking and waiting.

Oh lord! I just told DH today that if we go get a tree i'm putting it up this weekend! Sorry, Thanksgiving!

Personally, I like to give Thanksgiving its due. No tree will go up in my house until the Friday after, at the earliest.

I just bought a little mini tree yesterday at Target ($8!) and was dying to put it up. But ultimately decided that I needed to wait at least until after Thanksgiving. We live in a small apartment so the mini tree will be perfect in the front window. I am jazzed to decorate this year, since last I was Grinchy McGrincherson and did nothing.

I think we're going to wait another week or two before ours goes up, probably right after we get home from Thanksgiving. With LO arriving right before Christmas, I don't want to be rushed. Otherwise, it won't go up.

We typically do the tree the day after Thanksgiving. We werrrre talking about starting to put up a few more "winter-y" decorations though...

It would be way too early in my house -- we put up our stuff Thanksgiving weekend -- but if it makes you happy, do it!

i'm going to get a tree next weekend because DH is home and otherwise, it would be mid-december before we could get one. since i'm already 30w pregnant, i want to get it set up sooner than later!

DH has already asked me when I'm putting it up so maybe I'll just set it up this weekend and do everything else (wreaths, mantel and banister garlands, stockings, lights, ornaments etc) after Thanksgiving! I brought up all the boxes from the basement this week and was mortified to find that I had several giant containers full of Christmas decorations. No wonder he calls it "the seasonal department" down there.

@photojane: I'm sooo jealous! Ours used to do it right after Halloween, but now they wait a couple of weeks and it robs me of cheer!

Ours has been up for over 2 weeks! But, we don't have thanksgiving here, so there's no "rule" for Christmas tree assembling

Ours is going up this weekend - but that's because I'm due on the day that people usually put up their tree (day after Thanksgiving)

Go for it! I've already seen houses decorated with outdoor lights!

I would do it. I'm feeling a little stressed and I'm imagining an extra long Christmas season as the cure. We get a real tree otherwise I'd put it up like, this afternoon. I've already bought a few new Christmas decorations and I put them up! I'll probably do all my decorations other than the tree next weekend. We do travel for Thanksgiving though.
