I was talking to a friend over lunch today and she asked me if parenting is fun.
That question gave me pause. I think the first year is hard and the second year gets better. But I've really loved the last six months + with Charlie, so I said: yes, parenting is fun!
I keep thinking about it though. Is parenting fun? Which parts are the most fun, and which parts are the least fun?

Mmmmm, I would have to honestly say that it isn't fun, per se, but it has its fun moments, I guess. In general, no, I'm not having fun. I'm enjoying my time with LO but it's hard work! I'm tired all the time!

I'd say all in all, it's fun! I find it challenging so I guess that's what makes it fun. I also have a lot of family help, which lets me enjoy it a lot more!

Hmm... that's a tough one. Parenting is tough, and it's stressful. But it is fun when we get to go on playdates and walks with friends. It's fun when the baby laughs and smiles while we try to entertain her. It's not really fun at all for most of the day when I'm preparing yet another bottle, changing yet another diaper, or trying to get the baby to go down for yet another nap.

Overall for me it has been fun so far! Of course over the last 3 1/2 years I have had moments where I wasn't having much fun but I definitely feel like the good times out number the bad

I love it. There are definitely tough moments, but the good definitely outweighs the bad.

@Rubies: i think with baby #1 you can't wait for them to get older. i was so excited for each milestone, especially talking.
but with baby #2 you think.. they're growing so fast since you already know what's coming. the first year with olive has been flying by!

@Mrs. Bee: I agree! DD started talking at 15 months, too, so it became more fun. Nowadays, it is mostly fun. The first year was hard!

the terrible twos get a bad rep, but we are having a lot of fun! it's hilarious having conversations with cb and being able to see things through his eyes is amazing. we took him to disneyworld this past feb and watching him meet mickey was my absolute favorite highlight!
@Mrs. Bee: cb was 15 months when he came home and as much as we were sad about missing the first 15 months of his life, from the moment he came home, he was SO much fun!

So far, it's sometimes fun. She laughs and smiles at things more now. Seeing her hit her milestones is so much fun. She's more active and not just laying around anymore.

It isn't honestly isn't always fun, but there's lots of fun aspects that make it totally worth it.

LO is only 5 weeks so, NO, parenting so far is defintely not fun. She needs to be held ALL the time. And bounced. If you sit down, or put her down she screams. I can't wait for this stage to be over.

The first 6 months with my first was not fun at all. I enjoyed the first year of my second a lot more. Now that my second is almost a year and the two kids are interacting more, parenting is definitely more fun.
