That is an actual question I received from my mother-in-law. She commented that even my daughters cry was cute & sweet & when I responded with "I know!" She asked me if there was anything I didn't like about her. She also comments often on how "attached" I am to her because sometimes I choose to hold her instead of putting her down (which happens less & less the older she gets). I've even had strangers comment on how attached I am to her. Umm, we used to share a body, of course we're attached! Anyone else get strange comments like this?

I would have answered "yeah when she wakes up at 2am"

Yeah I assume she meant that as a joke? Like "Oh, is there anything you don't like about her?
" Otherwise that is a super weird thing to say.

your MIL's particular phrasing is a bit unusual, but maybe she really meant "what parts of motherhood do you like and not like"? not sure. i hope that when others comment on your attachment to each other, it's in a "aw, that's cute" way, and not a critical way!

Hopefully it was a joke! I know what you mean about the attachment though. Sometimes I feel like we still aren't 2 totally separate people-- like, if my stomach is upset, i feel like she probably has an upset tummy too, or something. I do think it's partly breastfeeding that makes me feel this way-- sharing immunities and such.
However I can name a few things about LO that I don't like-- namely, waking up multiple times a night! Also, the smell of her gas. Could live without that.

@Foodnerd81: I feel the same way about assuming she feels all the same physical things I do lol it's gotta be the breast feeding.
And I'm not an overly sensitive person, I usually can pick up on a joke but I honestly felt like she was serious. She is a very nit-picky person, thought. I've never heard her say anything positive about DH or my BIL. It makes me sad sometimes.

I don't mind poop actually (I've taken care of children all my life, I'm used to it lol) but her night wake ups & nap fighting are surely not my favorite!! lol

That's a weird comment. I'd be saying, "well, what don't YOU like about her?"
