We're having a girl and I have fallen in love with the name Felicity. My DH is concerned that a) it is a stripper name, b) it is a name that can be teased because it's close to, well another word starting with Fel that has to do with sex. I disagree with him, but maybe I've completely biased myself because I love the name so much. What do you think? Is it a stripper name or easily teasable?

I think of the show way more than I think of a stripper (which is, I don't think it sounds like a stripper name whatsoever).
ETA: I don't think Felicity sounds like fellatio at all.

I agree with everyone else. But, if your husband has already associated with a stripper and the other "f" word, odds are he's not going to be okay with the name no matter what we say . . .

I definitely think of the show, not a stripper-- and I liked the show and the character a lot so it's a good association. I was kind of hoping you name would be something truly awful from the title...

MY name is a stripper name... or rather, more of a cheerleader or mistress's name.
the "Fel-" thing is way too much... I don't see kids getting that far! Maybe in high school or college. Doubtful!

It would never in a million years occur to me that Felicity could possible be a stripper name. I associate it with the American Girl doll, and other books and movies set in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Also don't think it sounds like fellatio.

Reminds me of the TV show, which no child is goign to know! I say go for it!! As for the "dirty" thing no child should know that, and HS kids will come up with anything to make fun of so don't let that sway you.

Definitely NOT a stripper name. And as far as the other "fel" word I think I was in college before I knew what that word even meant... and if you're teasing someone about their name in college you're pretty lame.

@Jumpingjacks: We had one name we both liked, until one of our friends mentioned a Vegas stripper had that name. Maybe it's something similar, your husband liked the name . . . then his friend got a lap dance from a stripped named Felicity

I mean, it sounds sorta similar to things like Destiny or Chastity. But I'd never think of it as a stripper name. And kids like things that rhyme more than begin with the same letters to make fun of, IMO. I mean, maybe don't name a boy Horatio if he's worried about it.

Not a stripper name but I immediately think of the show.
I also picked a name that DH dubbed "stripper" so we eliminated it. If your DH thinks Felicity is a stripper name now, it might be difficult to convince him otherwise.

I just asked my husband what he thought: "Eh, kinda" was his response. Maybe we all just have other positive associations with the name that override any potential "negatives."

It's one of those iffy "could be a stripper name". I tend to test out names that I'm not sure about like this:
"Introducing to the stage....Fellllicity!"
So it could be perceived that way, but it's not like you're naming her Bambi!
