My 3 yr old has started to repeat words when she talks
"And And And And And And I want to go too!"
or
I I I I I I I want my shoes on"
Its not all the time but wondering if I should be concerned or this is just a phase?

My 5 yr old does this sometimes when she gets super excited and literally can't get the words out fast enough... Is that what it is for you guys?

My toddler (2) starts his sentences with "uh uh uh uh" and then spits out the word. I was concerned for a little while but a couple people told me that his mouth can't keep up with his brain and he's trying to spit out the right word.

My son doesn't talk much yet, but we were at the chiropractor the other day and a little boy who was around three years old was doing this. I think he was just so excited talking to his mom he couldn't keep up with his thoughts

My 4 year old does this too! He's growing out of it now. I mentioned it to the pediatrician and he said it was common and they usually grow out of it. Usually it's just them trying to think of what's coming next.

My almost 3 year old stutters a lot when he is tired. It usually happens midday if we've had a busy morning or around dinner time.

We have studied this type of assessment a lot in school, as social workers get this question very often. It isn't a stutter, it is more like, their minds are trying to generate an idea but they are talking and thinking so fast that they can't get it out right, if that makes sense. I don't know the science behind it, but it extremely, EXTREMELY common with kids under 6.
Imagine you are trying to holler at someone who may have left their keys in your house and is walking out the door, sometimes you jumble your words and repeat words because you're trying to think and speak at the same time, all in a warp speed. -

My 3 year old does this too. He will say the first part of a word several times, usually at the start of the sentence. So it might be something like "can you you you you play with me?" Or "there's a fi fi fi fire truck over there" I think he is gathering his thoughts because the rest of the sentence is always normal.

My (almost) 5 year-old still does this occasionally. Mostly when telling a story or if he's in front of a large group. All of his preschool friends do it so I'm not too worried. It's gotten a lot better though (started around 3).
I did nanny for a girl who had this problem - she was 9 though and still repeating a word when she talked (actually, every time she spoke). A lot of her stories would start out, "My-my-my-my mom my-mom, my mom and my dad..." I would say she had the speech capacity of a 3 year-old. But perfectly normal for a 3 year-old.
