My lo turns two in less then a month. 2 days ago he was up at 5, then yesterday and today 4:30 then this morning he only napped for 30 min. There’s not enough coffee in the world.

We’ve had a bunch of small regressions with my 2 year old. Like a week or two of randomly early wake ups and short or skipped naps, then back to normal for several weeks. Then another week or two of the abnormal crappy sleep. Since she’s not sick I assume it’s just a regression and it goes away eventually. In the meantime... ugh. It’s brutal. Luckily my husband can often get up with her in the morning since he wakes up early anyway and is working from home more. For naps she will often stay in her crib for a while before getting upset so I try to leave here there for at least an hour even if she doesn’t sleep.

This exact thing happened with my daughter a few months ago. I'm pretty sure it lasted 3-4 days and then she snapped ot of it. No idea why it happened! Could it possibly be teetthing?

We had a bit of a 2 yo sleep regression with DD2.
First, she was waking up at all hours of the night, whining for us. It would turn to a cry. Then a scream. We chalked it up to her being more aware that it was dark, she was alone, mommy and daddy werent there. So - we added a night light...didnt work. We were going in for like two hours on end. Finally we realized she was playing us...so we had to resort to threatening her binky. We assured her that Mommy and Daddy were here, but we were sleeping, like she should be. And since she only gets her binky when she sleeps if she wasnt going to sleep we'd have to take it away...she went back to sleep instantly (hello addiction to binky).
Then - a few weeks later she went through a 5am wake up phase (normal is 630-7am). She has shifted this back to 6am, but I think the sun being up earlier is messing with her. I need to get blackout curtains.

There's a 2 year old sleep regression, but there's also 2 year molars, so that could be part of it. The molars suckkkked with DS1 because he got them one at a time slowly over several months so he'd be a bear and unable to eat for a few days each time.
DS2 is turning 2 next week and he's been clingier lately, crying when we put him down for bed or naptime, and generally just a little naughtier, but its also coincided with more verbal and stringing phrases together and a huge boost in independence and "I do it myself" so it makes sense. I'm not looking forward to his molars, but he's generally a more laid back kid, so it shouldn't quite so bad (I hope).

It could be teeth or molars too. He’s behavior has been crazy today which I would guess is from not enough sleep but also possibly teeth - he feels warm but not a real fever. Pray for me

Mine felt like teething, but we’d already had a hell of a time with all four molars and they were fully through. But yes, there were also so big speech gains around the time so I assume that was also part of it.

My 20 month old has been going through some kind of regression too! Once she gets to sleep, it’s all fine. But it’s a battle to get her to her crib. Crying and book after book. Clinging when I try to put her in her crib. This is for so and night time. I spend like 30 minutes trying to get her to bed. Today is my due date for #2 so I’m not going to be able to spend so much time at bedtime with her. Ugh. Send help!

I’m having these same issues with my almost 2 yr old (turns 2 on 7/5). She hasn’t been fighting the going to sleep part but has been waking between 5:30-5:45am for last 2 weeks!!! It used to be 6:15-630am. We’ve tried everything to tweak it but so far nothing helps. She’s not crying when she wakes but once I hear her, I’m
up we don’t get her out if her crib before 615 regardless but I’m hoping this is a phase. I miss my normal toddler schedule (615-630am wake, 1-2:30pm nap, 6pm bedtime). Has your situation gotten better???

@Stardust17: his naps have def returned to normal (2-3 hr) and today he slept to 6 so I’d say pretty normal
