My cat is obsessed with plastic. He tries to eat all the plastic bags. He woke Me up last night because he was trying to eat a plastic bag in our closet.
We rescued him a couple of years ago - is that normal?!? Is your cat obsessed with anything?

@Mrs. Bee: our cat starts howling in the morning if his bowl is empty. Have you tried an automatic feeder?

@MrsH: she begs constantly for food even when we're awake. we give her wet food in the morning so she can't be autofed.

Aw, I miss having silly cats!!
Both my cats were obsessed with chewing on plastic! I don't remember plastic bags specifically though. They looooved bows, wrapping paper, hard plastic wrapping from toys and such, ziplock bags
One of the cats thought that the can opener ALWAYS opened a can of tuna. She wasn't happy when we didn't give her tuna juice after opening a can!

yes, plastic for us too! It is only one of the cats, and only clear plastic. So, not generally like grocery store bags, but any sort of plastic wrapping, ziplock bags, or (his most favorite) the plastic from a toilet paper pack. He eats it then pukes it up. It is sooo gross. We try to rid our house of plastic but he always finds it somewhere!

Zeus is obsessed with opening and closing doors. He cannot help himself if a door is slightly ajar. He'll either slam it shut or slam it open. He gets himself locked in rooms all the time because of it.

@Mae: yeah ours is clear plastic too - like what they ship clothes in or toilet paper bags. So weird. He also pukes it up

@MrsH: what is that about!? why do they want to eat it so bad if it makes them puke? It is like crack to him though. If we forget and leave something out he inevitably finds it within like, 3 hrs.

Haha my cat is obsessed with plastic too! He chews on the plastic seals from food containers (like the ones of chip dips) and the other day chewed on plastic ribbons from a baby gift we got. He never actually eats it though. He's also obsessed with boxes...he loves our amazon shipments!
He also has this pretty little Martha Stewart Pets mouse that my MIL got him for Christmas one year that he is obsessed with. It has a little bell and we can usually hear him chasing it at night. I always think it's hilarious that this is the toy he's obsessed with, especially because my MIL has never had a cat before. She also bought him his new favorite toy (another Martha Stewart) that is a sparkly, pink plaid mouse, LOL!

Ponytail holders! She eats them. I've had to always be careful not to leave them sitting out for years now. Also, the bathroom sink. She prefers to drink from the sink, but she also just hops up there to try to get attention. So anytime anyone looks like they might be headed in remotely the direction of the bathroom, she takes off running to beat them there.
My mom's cat loves eating plastic plants. We thought maybe she just wanted to eat real plants (since she's an indoor cat and doesn't have access to them normally), so we got her one, but she still went for the plastic ones. Crazy cat.

@Torchwood: Oh our cats both eat any sort of real plants too. Which is why we don't have any. lol. They make a huge mess and tend to get overexcited and knock them over.

The bag addiction is annoying because of the sound lol

Oh my goodness, yes. I have three cats. The oldest one loves licking plastic bags. She doesn't eat them, just licks them. She only likes the cheap ones you get at the grocery store.
When we got our middle cat as a kitten, I gave him this old sarong I had as a little blanket/lovey thing. He loves to lay on it and purr. He is also obsessed with small pillow toys which he likes to bring to us as "gifts."
Our youngest cat started going crazy on me whenever I wore a cashmere sweater, so I took an old one I didn't like much and gave it to him. So now that's his "lovey."
My cats are all nuts.

@Torchwood: gah my cat tries to sneak into the bathroom so he can rub on people's legs while they are sitting down - so weird.
@catlady: I am so glad my cat does not leave me presents

We have 3 cats and all of them are obsessed with boxes! We actually leave a box sitting on the half wall between the kitchen and living room and our cats sleep in it all the time. One is usually sitting next to it waiting for the other to leave so they can have a box nap.

Ugh. Plastic here too! Last night, he puked up one of my breast pad wrappers he stole from the trash. Drives me nuts!!
Our other cat is obsessed with the baby's socks. Whenever the nursery door is open, she makes a bee line to the sock basket and carries them around the house.

I'm surprised by all the cats obsessed with plastic things! That's funny.
My cat is obsessed with bubbles! Not the kind you blow though... We have a pet fountain with a clear water resevior in the back and he LOVES to head butt it to make the bubbles go up. We also have another auto waterer with no motor, just the resevior and a dish and he will drag it with his paw and slam into it to make the bubbles go. He ends up making a HUGE mess in the process. I had to put a folded towel under it to make it harder to push and pull and so that it will catch any spills.
He reminds me of that fish in Finding Nemo who was obsessed with the bubbles in the treasure chest, haha.
