We have not started baby proofing just yet, but in a few months LO will be mobile and we will need to. Is your home baby proofed? How much? I don't want to overdo it...but safety is always first!

No, not yet. Was my goal for last weekend that didn't happen, will need to get on it this weekend.

Some stuff like all the outlets, LO loves to try and plug things in. We also had to do most of the kitchen cabinets just because he would make such a huge mess every single date.

It's a slow process hahaha. Most of it is baby proofed.

This is on my list:
- secure all/most furniture to wall
- outlet covers
- cupboard clip things
- move glass/breakables/hazards from lower shelves or out of reach
- mount tv (done!)
-tie up blind cords
- keep bathroom door closed

olive is a very cautious baby so we haven't really had to worry about her as much as we did charlie. we have a gate at the top of our stairs, knob covers on the oven, cabinet locks on the bathroom cabinets, and that's about it! we do have outlet covers on some outlets, but not all.

We just started, as LO has started to army crawl. We bought sliding outlet covers and put rubber corners on our coffee table. We'll continue to baby proof as needed but so far that's all!

The outlets are covered, and I moved everything off of our big ottoman, but that's about it. Sawyer is cruising and I know I need to get on gating off our stars soon because he could 'get' crawling any time now. We also need to buy a bug cushy rug for our living room because the head against hardwood sound is jarring.

I think baby-proofing is a constant process. Just when you think you've got everything under control, you'll notice something that needs to get adjusted. And no home is ever totally baby-proof, of course.

Not yet; because our house is new, to comply with state law the outlets are already babyproofed from the back of the outlet; our tv is already wall mounted and we don't have much furniture she could pull down or topple. LO doesn't crawl yet, but when she does I'll have to get started on making our house safe!

We are in the process of it! We have covered all the outlets and secured most cabinets. But we still need to secure furniture to the wall.

Totally babyproofed, the areas where she hangs out. Basically the entire lower level. I really firmly believe in a house of yes - I'm not interested in chasing her around saying no no no! all the time.

fairly. I mean, I have drawers with knives and no catches on them...but mostly baby proofing for us is blocking off all plugins and getting rid of all clutter. I like them to be able to roam free in the house, makes everyone happier.

We're only half baby-proofed, but we really need to get going, since DD is becoming *very* mobile, and she has just started showing interest in the stairs. We have plug covers, but we still need baby gates and get something to secure our flat screen TV to the wall.

Our house is probably THE most non-baby proofed, but our LO isn't here yet. I'm hoping to have it all baby proofed before s/he arrives because I'm sure we'll be too busy once s/he is here to baby proof!

@Alivoo01: Ha us too-- I look around sometimes and realize just how unsafe it would be with a crawler. But we are probably moving before LO gets here, so I think when we move we will take a good look at everything. We have those ladder bookshelves that lean against the wall and I'm wondering if there is any safe way to have them with a baby-- they look incredibly tempting to climb I'm sure!

Not really. We have outlet covers and try to keep most things above his reach. Eventually we will get gates for the stairs but he's a cautious baby so we don't have to worry too much.

@Foodnerd81: A friend of ours has one of those ladder bookshelves and she stuck a big ole couch cushion around it so that the baby couldn't reach it. When the baby did show interest in and attempted to reach for it over the couch cushion, she'd say no and let him know he can't touch it. He's about 18 months now, and doesn't really mess with the ladder bookshelf now.
You know those "tab" they give you to secure your TV or dresser to the wall? Maybe you can do something similar for your bookcase to prevent it from falling over? And implement the couch cushion idea or put baby gates around it to prevent them being utilized as a playground toy?

@Alivoo01: Yeah, I would definitely secure them to the wall, no question. But if this baby is anything like DH, he/she will also want to climb up them. I guess we'll try to cushion first and see how it goes

Nope, not yet! LO will be mobile in the next month or so though, we are going to have to get moving!
