How old is H? B used to be that way when he was younger, but now when he sees someone he is unfamiliar with, he hides behind my legs and peeks out at them. If he knows we are okay with them, then he will turn on his charm.

She is a ham at home, but she is more reserved in public (stranger danger is alive and well for BabyGloss). She also doesn't seem to love the camera . . . it's a work in progress.

I don't know that I would worry about it too much just yet . . . I think LOs do a lot of what they do because you (and/or your DH) are close by, and that makes them feel safe.

This is C exactly. She'll go up to random people and hold her arms up for them to pick her up. She has never had any stranger anxiety.

My mom said I was the exact same way. I figure I never got kidnapped, so C probably won't. I just make sure to keep an eye on her and I don't worry too much. She never gets too far from me when we aren't in a safe environment anyway.

I figure when she gets old enough, we'll teach her about strangers.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. She's still a little young to have stranger danger, but will probably develop it at some point. LO went from a super ham, to a stranger hater, and now she's getting friendly again. All in a matter of a few months.

This is M as well. When we go out to eat she will literally pick a table and stare at them the whole time. She will not stop staring until they talk to her. Then she's all yappy. Now that she's walking she will walk away from me and just stand in the middle of a space and stare at people. She's a people watcher!

I don't worry bc when they engage like physically she will shut down immediately and just stare. And usually comes back to me. When she meets people (direct contact) for the first time she is VERY wary and takes a while to warm up.

Most people love that she is so friendly. She waves and smiles and everyone and really does seem to brighten people's day. I think being friendly is a good trait for her to have down the road, but I will just be sure that she knows the boundaries. But, no stranger danger here at all. Babies need social interaction just like everyone else

I'm sorry this made me laugh hysterically.

My LO is too busy being judgy to try to engage people. I swear she has the judgiest faces and just is not impressed with new people trying to be her friend. Whenever new babies start in her day care class it takes a good week for her to accept them. She gives them dirty looks and cries if they get picked up. I once came to school and her teacher was lecturing her on "accepting new friends". I died laughing. She also flips the F out if floaters try to pick her up. She likes to nap when floaters are in her room because she has no interest in interacting with them. I can't blame her since I dislike the majority of people I meet too

He's never had an ounce of stranger anxiety. He'll reach for other people to pick him up while we're waiting in a line. I've gone to parties at other people's houses where he walks into the room and starts dancing, clapping and just commanding everyone's immediate attention.
I don't really make a big deal of his antics to the point where I'm not even really paying attention when we're out and about. A few weekends ago he was hamming it up in Target, I didn't even look up to see what was going on before I heard DH say, "hey, you're (Senator) Elizabeth Warren!" I asked if we could get a photo and J jumped into her arms.

My LO also likes to stare and talk to strangers!

Lorelei has a 'look but don't touch' philosophy. She loves attention, could care less about how far away from me she roams, adores strangers, but if they try to touch her she wants mama. NOW! Ellie was very cautious and reserved of other people, always. I think I would worry about Lorelei a lot more if we lived somewhere bigger where "stranger danger" was more of an issue. Not that it can't happen here, but between my watching her and the fact that we at least tangentially know most of the people we come into contact with every day, I'm not too worried.

@MsLipGloss: @Mrs. Pen: We had her six month photos yesterday and at least half of them were straight up judge face. I will be sure to post them once we get the disk : )

@MamaMoose: B does the same thing when we get his pictures taken. He is smiles for us and then uninterested when we have a photographer there. I'm constantly saying "he really is a happy boy!"

E's pretty much the opposite. Half the time if someone else is holding him he'll be lunging for me or DH (and sometimes even if it's DH). Except other kids, then he just wants to crawl over and steal their toys.

omg yes! except she mostly only does this to other daddies or men and it is sooo embarrasing! we will be at the park swinging and she will stare down any man she sees and smiles, coos, anything to get his attention and basically ignores me the entire time. it is so embarrasing! i have no clue why she is like this because she sees her daddy all the time and he gives her so much attention already!
