4.5 months and DD still had a small cry. Totally unexpected. I even decided to forgo monitors b/c I thought for SURE we'd hear her since our apt isn't that big... I was wrong.
Wonder when & if it will change?.

Not really. When he was a nb we likened him to a little kitten, he had soft meows. At 6 months I can hear him from a couple rooms over but he's still not loud and it's not an annoying cry.

I'd say that I've been pretty lucky with both of my boys. Neither of them were loud criers. I thought they were loud until I heard other babies cry. I feel for the mamas! Although, my 5-month-old will scream when he's really hungry but it's still not considered loud.

Oh yeah. LO's cry was a shrieking, ear-piercing cry that had people cringing. I'm sure it had to do with her colic but I actually avoided public places with LO for the first 4 months because people would stare in our direction wondering what baby was being tortured.

Her normal cry isn't too bad but her "I'm hungry" cry is so loud... it's more like a high pitched scream.

Yes! It starts as a cough-like cry and then immediately goes to this throaty scream.

Yes, she is loud. I always chuckle when I hear soft baby cries. It seems so weird to me since DD has always been so loud.

M has a harsh piercing cry. It's probably one of the worst cries I've ever heard, but luckily she hardly ever cries.

LO had a really husky quiet cry. Now.. She can scream bloody murder if she wants, but her normal cry isn't super loud.

@katdevargas: Yep, thats how my daughter was. She hardly gets like that anymore though.

Yep! Super loud and all she did was cry for the first 3 months due to colic and acid reflux. She is still often fussy at 5 months and we get, "oh wow, she's got some lungs on her!" Gee, thanks, we hadn't noticed! haha
