I wanted to last year, but I didn't want to be that annoying parent that made other parents look bad by doing little things like that for the various holidays. But I really want to do it this year so I think I might do something really simple and inexpensive. Kids make celebrating holidays so much more fun!
Will your LO give out Valentines?

Yep. I buy printables on etsy and give those out. Last year it was fishbowls with swedish fish in treat bags (valentine by PBJand J). This year it is toy cars (valentine by PaperandPip). [Not my photos below, credit goes to the creators mentioned above.]
ETA: I'm glad I did them because at my son's daycare pretty much everyone did something so we would have been the odd one out if I hadn't.

We didn't do anything like this until this year, when Wagon Jr. started getting little gifts like that from his classmates! Now I feel so guilty not doing anything (one little girl gave every single kid in the class a tiny little stuffed animal in a little gift bag for Christmas). So we'll be doing valentines for sure. Time to start looking up ideas...!

Yes, I plan on LO giving out valentines day cards to his class. He's in the infant room, so its really more for the parents than the LOs.

LO isn't in daycare or school, but we already did start making valentines to give to family and some friends.
I had her paint in a ziplock bag (no mess and more importantly no putting it in her mouth) using red and pink paint and then I punched out hearts and used red ribbon to tie them onto white cardstock and then I'm just going to write Happy Valentines Day on there. I already have all the materials so it's a free project for me, and they came out really cute. I'll probably throw some stickers in the ones that are going to kids.

@artbee: That sounds cute! How do you paint in a ziplock bag? Curious, as I babysit classmates' kids on occasion and would love a no-mess (or minimal mess) activity!

@MediaNaranja: You just put some paint on the paper and then put it in the bag, zip it up, and let the baby or toddler move the paint around. I've been doing it with my LO since she was little. You can also make it craftier by having them paint things like wooden picture frames, or use masking tape to block out a word, letter, heart, etc. and then remove it when the paint dries. Makes great gifts

I got little plastic shovels and tied an applesauce(the applesauce is in a squirtable pouch thing) to it with a tag that says "I dig you".

@pelikila: Wow those are adorable! If I did that for DD's pre-school I would look like I was trying too hard, it is very low-key. That's cool that you are doing those.
We'll probably go for store bought ones this year and maybe include a pencil.

I just saw a cute one that said "Color your Heart Out" and it was little heart shaped crayons! I thought that was cute!
