Olive is starting preschool this September! She has been in daycare since she was 16 months, but it is definitely more of a daycare than a preschool. Olive is so happy there though.
Olive will be just shy of turning 3 when she starts preschool. It's always scary to start a new school! I'm sure she will cry. 
I'm also nervous about Charlie starting kindergarten.
Ack they're growing up so fast!

Yes, my son is starting preschool in a 4's program, he'll be 3 years 9 months. It's at a different place than his daycare, but it won't be new to him because he'll be there for camp this summer.
I am super excited for him!

Nope! He will be starting daycare though and they do have about an hour of structured "sensory" and learning activities!
He starts preschool next fall.

LO is going to a small program two mornings a week. She'll be almost 2.5, a bit young, but I think she's going to love it. She's very much an extrovert.

Yup my DS is entering early childhood (Montessori). I really need to get him potty trained!

My daughter is starting preschool too. I'm sure she'll need time to adjust but if we get the teacher we want, she'll already be familiar with her since she was my son's teacher at the same age. My son is starting kindergarten too. He's really excited about it but I'm nervous. Based on his birthdate and the school cutoff here, he'll always be one of the youngest in his class. I worried about it when he started preschool at 3 but he did great so I hope it'll be the same next year. But if this is the year to hold him back if we were to choose that route. I hope we're making the right choice for him.

@BoogieBea: academically charlie has been fine with a december birthday, but i do think he has more problems sitting still and following directions than kids that are older and definitely the girls. i think that's the biggest disadvantage of an end of the year birthday for a boy!

@Mrs. Bee: yeah, it's not the academics I'm worried about either. I can always work with him at home too if he struggles. But my son is on the timid side especially with new environments. I just wonder if the extra year would help him have more confidence. He gets upset now when some of his classmates don't play with him. We're trying to teach him that he doesn't always have to follow others.

DD1 is starting 1st grade in the fall. Kindergarten was an amazing year... how exciting for the kids starting soon!
DD2 will be 3 soon, but she's doing amazing at home, so probably doesn't need to go to school til she's 4 and ready for pre-k where her sister goes (a private PK-8th grade school). I don't mind keeping her home longer! They do grow so fast!

@BoogieBea: @Mrs. Bee: that's how I feel as well...I know my son will be fine academically, but what worries me is that he a bit behind in speech and when other kids can't understand you, they don't want to play with you. So, that's why I am giving it another year before we decide.

Yep, Liam is starting in the fall. I'm excited and nervous! He will only go 2 days a week at first. He has never been in daycare, so it will be a big adjustment.

@looch: my son was speech delayed too. And I think that affected his confidence. He's improved a lot in the past year though. He's learned to ski, swim and is currently taking martial arts. He's a lot more outgoing and has been telling us that he's excited for kinder. So I take that as a good sign.

@Mrs. Bee: Yep! Did you choose a preschool with after care or are your hiring a part time nanny? Ours ends after lunch and debating how to handle the rest of the day.

@BoogieBea: Oh I am so glad to have read what you wrote! My son made such great progress since February, when we began speech therapy, so I am hoping the trend continues.

@Sparkler: her school ends at 4 so we will probably just bring her home early (her daycare now ends at 6). charlie has access to a lot of after school programs that won't cost as much as a traditional after school program so it makes sense to put him in them. i guess my work day will just end at 3:45 now!

Yes, my son will move from the nursery side of daycare to the preschool side this fall. I'll be glad for him to be with older children because he's one of the oldest right now.
