I want her to take swim lessons and put her in gymnastics but they're all during work hours so I guess they'll have to wait until I'm on maternity leave w/ #2.

Yes, swimming on Saturdays, library storytime during the week and also a Gymboree class I'm there. I am a sahm for a few more months so taking advantage of classes but once he starts daycare, we will scale back as he won't need as much outside interaction then.

No, but I have been thinking about signing him up for swim or baby gym.

Not yet but we are going to start swim lessons this late winter/early spring.

We do a music class and a story group. I SAH so it's important to me that we get out and that she socializes with other kids.

Starting in Jan, he is doing music and gym, and then starting in March he is doing Forest School in Prospect Park--I am super excited about that one!! It sounds like we basically get to go into the park and sing songs and animal watch!

we're starting swim lessons this week (LO is almost 1 year old). i feel like we need a bit more structure to our weekends and one class per week seemed like a good idea. after swim classes are over, we'll be doing an arts/play class.

We have done swim lessons for months. To me swim lessons isn't negotiable and kids need to be comfortable in the water. Usually they are just in the summer but we found a year round program.

We did a toddler soccer program which was great but the 2 hour drive each way wasn't. So when my Crossfit gym let me start a toddler class, we quit soccer.

Now he does my toddler Crossfit class which I love. And the kids seem to like it too. We bribe my kid with Crossfit to go to swim lessons.

I won't take my son to the gymnastics program in town for a number of reasons. So gymnastics is out though I would love for him to do it.

DD will be starting daycare this spring. There's a kids' soccer club, a pony riding school, and gymnastics in the neighborhood, but we'll see what she's interested in.

Ballet on Saturdays and Mandarin on Sundays. Activities are hard to schedule around, but she loves loves loves ballet and Mandarin is a non-negotiable. I want her to start swimming lessons this summer. She'll be swimming every day at her camp so that will help, too.

I keep waiting for the baby to permanently drop her morning nap so that I can take her to play gym and music classes.

MyGym, weekly music class, and will start swimming lessons in a few months. Also want to get back to StoryTime at the library, but it has been difficult because of his nap times.

@Andrea: how's mandarin going for your LO? Our first attempt was a fail. Trying again at a less intense school...

She is only 6 months but if she is interested I hope she'll do climbing and an instrument. Would love to share my love of both!

@mrbee: we haven't started (it begins next weekend). I wanted to begin earlier but the year got away from me last year. It's got parental involvement required, so my husband and I will alternate attending.

I know a lot of parents say that activities cut in the way of family time and I struggled with handling it, but I found that if my son doesn't have structure and I haven't had time to plan, the weekends turn into screen time fests and all of a sudden it's Monday and we didn't do anything. So, I felt comfortable scheduling the class for Saturday morning. We're awake anyway, and it still gives us Sunday for unstructured time.

We also have done swimming, but my son didn't like it, so we'll try again this year, as we have a pool and can do lessons on our time (every night, as an example).

DS will be starting t-ball in the spring followed by summer swim lessons. DD isn't in anything and probably won't be until 3 or 4. Personally, I think too many activities are overwhelming and we have preschool, play dates and library story time right now.

The other preschool kids seem to be in classes all year round though!

We do My Gym, a music class, and a play group/class through the parks district. Winters here are tough so I try to have something scheduled each morning to keep us occupied! I cant wait for warm weather so we can visit the park!

LO is only 2 months but we are going to start going to the baby story time at the library soon, and this summer we are going to do an infant swim class. We might do a music class too.

At age two she started gymnastics. We found a place that had great evening classes. It was cheap so we didn't feel bad if we missed a class or two.

They offer ballet and theater and a few other classes at daycare but honestly I'm paying so much anyways I can't imagine much more.
