Ours definitely is. While we don't have a "young" neighborhood, we have lots of kids and lots of parents with new babies or pregnant mommies. That being said, people need to slow down on our neighborhood roads! They drive way too fast considering there are kids everywhere.

For New York, absolutely. There are beautiful parks and lots of kid-friendly activities to do. That said, I still think it's tough having a kid/kids in the city. Everything is just a bit more challenging, but then again there are rewards, too.

extremely. there was a t-mobile billboard in manhattan that said "faster than new parents moving to park slope" because our neighborhood is known as the young family capital of ny.

I think so! We have a ton of young couples and young familes moving into our neighborhood!

Definitely! I love my new neighborhood. It's no Park Slope, but that's ok! We live 3 blocks from Prospect Park, close to the lake. We're near the YMCA, a cafe that caters to parents, and a bunch of other playgrounds. We see so much more parents and kids here and it's very diverse.
Plus, we're close to Park Slope

We have tons of kids in our neighborhood. Our neighbors actually have some orange cones that they put outside when the kids are playing that says something like "slow down kids playing."

Yes! We have a very thriving parent community in our neighborhood that I think is a bit special for our city. The restaurants and businesses are very accommodating to family and there are lots of parks around. But, living in the city with a baby is definitely more challenging than before we had her. We are trying to decide right now if we want to stay city or go suburbs.

Yes! Everyone in our neighborhood are young couples with young children. It's so much fun! We have block parties, etc.

@mrsjazz: We're in Prospect Heights and it's kind of the same deal! I like that we're just close enough to Park Slope, but with enough distance to keep me sane.
Although, we're moving to Stamford next month to be closer to my husband's job, so no more Brooklyn for us

No not really! There is mostly older people who are retired in my neighborhood!

Definitely! Lots of babies and young children in our neighborhood. We do have a few older people on our street, but we like it because they're always home watching out for the neighborhood!

Nope. There are hardly any kids on our block, though we aren't too far from some parks. It's very much a young professionals or older established professionals area-- people with kids tend to move to more family friendly neighborhoods, which is exactly what we plan to do when we have kids. We'll stay in the city for a few more years, just a more family oriented part of the city.

@mrsjazz: I hope so! I'll definitely miss it here, but it's just one of those decisions that I know will be better for the family. Who knows - maybe we'll be back one day.

We're in Park Slope so yes. I would love to be able to raise my family here but we probably won't be able to afford it long-term. Still, for now it's great. Around 3pm when the schools let out, it's quite the scene - sidewalks filled with gaggles of kids in uniforms, kids riding bikes and eating ice cream, moms pushing strollers, etc. It's all so perfect and charming, my husband calls it Park Slope: The Musical.

Yes very! I also can't get over how fast people drive though- it's nuts!

Yes it is, but some dumb people drive really fast in our apartment complex even when they children nearby. I dont like that

Yes, there are four schools within walking distance + several parks. The problem is the high school students speeding through the neighborhood after school!

Meh.. We live in school street in an apt, so two elementary schools and the high school are 500 feet away. In that way it's kid friendly but we don't know anyone here.

Yes, there's a lot of families with young kids in our neighborhood. I always see mom's strolling their kids around, and it is in a very safe area!

Yep. Very. Both of our neighbors had babies this year, also!
