My parents built their house in the 80's and they just remodeled the whole thing. I've never seen it in person, but it looks nice from the photos they've sent.

oh definitely not... their house is awful. love my parents but my mom is a packrat/messy and they haven't done any real updates for awhile. It's a $$ thing. If I had the money I would totally pay to help with their house!

Nope, my parents house is the same as when they moved in almost 30 years ago. Which I don't think was even updated then. They don't mind it at all, but I think it'd be near impossible to sell.

Hahaha...NO. The house was built in the early 1900s, and while my dad did some remodeling when they moved in 25 years ago, none of the owners have made any serious gut changes to keep up with the times. It's a serious money pit.

Yeah my parents are pretty particular on keeping their home up to date. They haven't replaced their kitchen cabinets though, they're white...it doesn't scream modern but it's not bad either. They bought their house, new in 2000.

My parents lived in the same house for 27 years and didn't do much remodeling while they were there (they did eventually do the kitchen, but the house still had original 1970's bathrooms!)

The house they bought 2 years ago is very up to day and beautiful.

My mom goes into home improvement mode some years and has gotten a lot of things done, but not everything. For instance, she hasn't updated the kitchen at all, although she hardly ever cooks, she wants it gutted and completely renovated.

My mom is always updating. Their plan was to move to a better house ... but they stayed put because they loved the neighborhood. So my mom kept upgrading the house instead of moving.

My parents' home was built in 1868, and (badly) remodeled in the 90s before they bought it. They have (very slowly) been remodeling and restoring it to its original state. Luckily, the bad 90s remodel didn't get rid of the unique details that make the home so awesome! Like the two front rooms with their original pine floors, fireplaces, and mouldings. They just finished the kitchen and dining room, I can't wait to see it at christmas! They also put in new windows where they were needed, but tried to keep as many of the old, original ones with wavy glass as they could.
