DH does pick up and he said that LO is ALWAYS upset when he takes her away from day care. Back arching, crying, ignores him when he shows up, etc.
I think it's normal bc she's having fun! But it hurts his feelings.

Depends on the day. If we are taking him away from something he is enjoying then yes, total meltdown. However, if he is only so-so into it or most of his friends have already left for the day, then he's totally fine with it. We've starting having a small snack ready for him so he is pretty content to leave when we show up these days though he still loves his daycare.

Yup. My husband thinks he's chop liver since he does pick up. But she's also cranky in the mornings because she doesn't want me to leave, so we just can't win.

My LO does this when I pick him up from my in-laws. Always crying. Kills me. So as often as possible I get DH to do it on days he leaves work early!!!

Haha not yet. He is always happily playing when I show up, but when he sees me, he comes running towards me with a big smile. He used to cry when I picked him up bc he wanted to leave!

@pelikila: ooh good tip. She demands a snack when she gets in the car. But maybe the trick is to lure her with a snack at daycare.

@mrsjazz: This is my DS too! I always ask him "why do you fuss at drop off cuz you don't want to go to school and then cry at pick up cuz you don't want to leave????"

We went through a few weeks where she would fight when it came time to leave. As others mentioned, I started brining a special snack that was specifically something she only got when she was good for pickup and that helped us get through the worst of it.

My kids love school and day care, but they want to go home more. DD is asking why I pick her up so late these days.. tried to explain day light savings and days getting shorter and she just couldn't get it...

He's ready to leave because he's usually one of the last ones picked up. {We do a late drop off.}

He's super happy to see us and leave daycare. During the morning, he's moody especially when he doesn't get his way or fights the changing table. I tend to be convinced that he doesn't like me in the morning. Then, when I leave after dropping him off, his separation anxiety sets in. This morning, he practically wedged himself in between my legs under my coat. His favorite person had to convince him to play with the kids. His separation anxiety flared up again. We had a couple of weeks where he was super happy going to daycare. Now, he's not anymore.

She's happy at drop off but she is always excited to see us and come home.

My 16 mo old is always so excited to see us and happy to go home. But my nephew does my sister this way (he is a bit older) and it really hurts her feelings.

How old is your LO? We had this problem BIG TIME from about 19-24 months and then after a vacation it got better and we got hugs again!

Ugh, it lasted awhile for us! I had a a bag of favorite snacks to lure him away...apples, kids cliff bars, gold fish, fruit strips, etc. and let him choose after his coat was on!
