More and more friends are posting pictures of their fully decorated xmas tree. I always thought of the tree as more of a winter decor and thanksgiving as more fall/autumn but now those lines are so blurrred. Is your tree up yet or are you waiting til after thanksgiving?

Probably the next weekend after thanksgiving (first weekend in December) we will put it up. I still wait until after thanksgiving for most Christmas things! We will be away for Christmas itself, which is the reason I want to do it first weekend of December.

Nope! We get a real tree so I prefer to wait until December. Even if we had artificial we would wait until after thanksgiving.

Iām Canadian, so Thanksgiving isnāt a factor, but ours is going up this weekend.

I have always waited, primarily because we host now. And we used to get real trees which donāt last that well. But the last couple of years I decorated our porch prior to thanksgiving (to spread out the work) and if I can swing the tree up early one year I will probably do it! My kids are soooo excited right now to put up the tree and decorations, Iām planning to start on the 26th and be done the following weekend.

We cut ours down the Friday after thanksgiving. Usually gets decorated throughout the weekend.

We get a real tree on Black Friday. We've never had problems with it lasting until Christmas. Then again, we cut it ourselves at a farm, so it's super fresh.
I understand wanting to wait until December, but I feel like my kids are never going to look back on their childhoods and say, "Wow, I wish my parents would have waited to put the tree up every year." Extra tree time means we get to have a little more Christmas cheer, which I think we need more of in today's world. I think that might be why we are seeing Christmas getting pushed back farther and farther--people are hungry for the message of joy and peace. (I'm an atheist so I don't mean that in an evangelical sense, though I'd understand if someone interpreted it that way from their POV.)

We went to a touristy holiday area recently and my husband was appalled at how many people were buying trees. His (mostly fake) outrage was hilarious! I was also surprised but we probably saw 50 people with trees on their car. I was surprised. My husbandās family typically bought their tree in the first week of December.

My parents always dilly-dallied and didn't get a real tree until Dec 15-20, and I hated it and always felt like other kids got to celebrate Christmas for a much longer time than I did.

That being said, we usually get a tree on Black Friday. My 4yo is really excited about it!

It's become tradition to put up the tree on Black Friday and use the long weekend to decorate it and the rest of the house. I feel like it's the only decent amount of time we get to do it with an extended break from work. Like @Hypatia: said above too - I think now that we have kids we really want to extend that christmas season and make the most of it. BUT we are firmly in the no tree/decorations/christmas anything prior to Thanksgiving camp.

We usually do ours Black Friday, but I may wait until Sunday this year since we're having a 4-year old bday party Saturday.

I never put it away (it's a small fake tree, so I put it into a really nice pot and it's in my dining room in a corner).
There are no lights or ornaments on it though, so if you don't really look for it, you don't see it.
I will do the full decorating over this weekend.

I prefer to put it up in mid December and take it down in mid January. I still get the month of celebration.

We bought our first artificial tree this year, so we wanted to test out where we would put it and if we liked it in person (bought online). Well.... once it was up it just stayed. Iām hosting Thanksgiving so I grabbed some clearance fall foliage sprigs and ribbon and right now itās a fall tree. We will make the transition to Christmas on Saturday per our family tradition of decorating the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

we cut a real tree, and usually do it 2-3 weeks before christmas. i typically put up outdoor lights the weekend after thanksgiving, and then other indoor decorations on or around the first of December.

My DDās birthday is in early December so she gets to choose whether the tree goes up right after thanksgiving or the following weekend, which is usually after her birthday (thereās an extra weekend in there this year). I donāt want her birthday overshadowed by Christmas but if sheās super excited, I donāt mind putting the tree up earlier. Sheās still not sure what she wants to do this year, lol. But we have a fake tree so itās just a matter of pulling it out of the basement.

I put mine up the first weekend in Nov. and decorated it fully by the 2nd weekend. i don't have any fall or other season's decor so I like to have my Christmas stuff up as long as I possibly can.

We live in a tiny space so we havenāt done a tree in a couple years but we try to put up lights RIGHT after thanksgiving and leave it until mid-January haha

@looch: Love this! We have a tabletop tree that we use every year, but it goes away. My almost-6yo has a small potted tree that we decorate for various holidays (christmas, valentines, easter). It stays up all year.

Yes, grrr! At pick up Wednesday night LO asked it the newly erected Christmas tree at daycare was his. I told him no and his tree was at home. He looked around for āChristmasā at home and couldnāt find it.
After breakfast this morning I put it up for him. He also wanted to take a picture with his Santa Elmo. 
Donāt mind the mismatch jammies- somehow he opened his waterbottle and wet his PJ top.

We have friends who let us borrow their fake tree and decorations this year since they will be away for the holidays (we live in SE Asia, so no chance of a real tree). We probably wonāt put it up until sometime mid-December. Iām kind of a grinch, but my ILs will be here for Christmas this year and at least it will be nice for them and the LOs. And this tree is a normal size (itās in the box so Iām not sure how tall it is). We normally use our very sad 24 inch fake tree.

It is up. We usually do it all Thanksgiving weekend. I wasnāt hosting this year so I was able to do all the shopping and Christmas cards, DH did outdoor Christmas lights and tree. DD did the Christmas village and helped with the cards and the tree. This is the second year in a row with a fake tree so that makes it easier too.

Just set it up, now I have to wait for it to acclimate.

I will probably put it up tomorrow or Sunday during nap time. We have a small artificial tree, and just store it in the basement fully decorated, so it only takes a few minutes to get it set up. If we had lights to string and ornaments to hang, I would get LO involved more this year (she is almost 3), but without those tasks, it is fun to surprise her with it when she wakes up.

We bought ours yesterday and itās decorated now! We usually wait longer, but now that my son is two and gets holidays more, he is so excited about Christmas decorations. Totally worth doing it early. I think whatever people feel like is fine, though! It annoys me a bit that I feel like especially this year Iāve seen a lot of rude stuff on social media complaining or making fun of people for decorating too early. Wtf difference does it make to you, people?! Iām glad to see despite different time frames, no one seems like that here
