Simple question: how far in advance did you remove your IUD before you wanted to TTC? Did you give it a couple month grace period to get your cycle back or just jump right in?

I had my IUD removed in May and we conceived in Sept - but we used condoms in between then.
My OB said I didn't need to wait at all. I had planned to get it removed a few months before we planned to start TTC in October in case my period was wonky at all post-IUD. It wasn't: it came right back as soon as the IUD was removed and returned to its previous "30 days like clockwork" pattern.

I had my Mirena removed and was pregnant 6 weeks later (so I had one period, then conceived the next cycle).
OB said I could TCC as soon as it was removed.

We haven't started TTC yet but I got my IUD out 1.5 months ago. I had a very light "period" about 2.5-3 weeks after the removal. My cycle in the past had been anywhere from 26-28 days, but my period just showed up again after only 24 days and it is pretty much the worst period I have ever gotten...
So I guess my advice would be to wait until right before TTC to get it taken out - avoid the monster period! I actually wish I did it that way

IUD #1 surgically removed was pregnant three weeks later.
IUD #2 removed, pregnant 6 weeks later.
I didn't have expectations to get pg that fast (so much as I was hopeful :)) Realistically I didn't know what to expect and doc said we could TTC right away vs waiting a cycle.

Removed March 13, had a period 2 days later. Had unprotected sex once 14 days after removal, and did not get pregnant. Then had second period 23 days after removal! I was a 28 day like clockwork gal. We aren't TTC yet. So, I was worried it was wonky, but just had my third cycle and it was after 29 days, so I think I'm getting back to normal. We flip flop on when we want to TTC. It seems to coincide with how much LO is sleeping through the night lol. Ultimately, will probably try this summer. So, a good 3-4 months to let my body get back to normal.

I got it removed a couple days before Christmas. I was ovulating a couple days later and my doctor said it was fine to jump right in. But we ended up using condoms till April when we started TTC.

I'm getting mine removed in June but we're not officially TTC right away. My OB recommended waiting one month after removal to let the uterine lining thicken back up (he said there are not formal studies to show that it could be problematic, but it's possible and that was his recommendation for his wife so I feel comfortable with the suggestion). We will use condoms at least for the first month, possibly longer. I'm giving myself a little extra time (hoping for a next-summer/fall baby) bc I had long cycles while TTC #1, thus fewer chances to conceive.

My GYN said that I didn't have to wait and could get pregnant right away. But I was glad I waited. My period came back right away, the first one was crazy, like 3 years of period all at once. I was glad that i could "clean out" what was in there. I had stopped having real cycles with the mirena. i also had ovarian cysts and I think it was good to waiting a few cycles for those to go away.

My OB said fertility comes back right away, but recommended waiting a month for dating purposes. I got mine taken out late Feb and got a BFP mid-April

My ob said she suggests waiting until you get a true period before trying. I think the logic is waiting until your uterine lining has a chance to grow to the appropriate thickness so there is less risk of a chemical. She said it was purely anecdotal but she found people who got pregnant instantly after having it removed were sightly more likely to have it not stick. I may be totally remembering that wrong but it made sense at the time...
After I got my period we conceived in the fifth cycle.

Fertility returned right away. Got a period two days after removal, then my first cycle was short so we missed the fertile window. Got pregnant second cycle post removal.

I had it removed a month before we planned to start trying. I had a slightly longer cycle that month, so we ended trying right away and actually got pregnant that same cycle! Quite a surprise, since it took us well over a year to successfully conceive our first!
It was a copper iud, though, so not sure if a hormonal one would take longer.
Eta: it did stick, and I have a beautiful two month old son today!
