My dr told me I could come in tomorrow for betas if I want to. I would almost rather do that! I really hope we both get our miracle this month!!! We could be due date buddies! Praying for you!!!

I am day 6 of flashing smiley OPKs, just waiting to schedule my IUI. WTH body? I plan to test two more times today. Since this is my first IUI, I'm just doing OPKs this time, no ultrasound, no trigger, just calling when I get my positive. Hopefully, I'll see something by this afternoon, but I will call my office if not to see who I can call tomorrow to schedule one for Sunday if I get my tomorrow instead. Ugh...the waiting game, that's all TTC seems to be. Ha!

@fotolori1: I don't blame you... I'm going to have the nurse leave me a VM on Tuesday and wait until I'm home with DH to listen. Sending all the positive thoughts your way today!!

@Sprite: Thank you! And yes to the small amount of control you get from noting the details of previous cycles. Knowledge is power, right? Ignorance is bliss? I don't know - I just try to think positive thoughts these days and hope that's all the magic it will take. // Sorry to hear about the roller-coaster you have been on the past few days. As if all of this isn't a roller-coaster enough! I'm glad you can at least jump right back in, no down time. Sounds like we're cycle buddies I'm CD5 today.

@fotolori1: @LindsayInNY: Fingers crossed for POSITIVE results for both of you! Thinking lots of good thoughts for you both.

@LindsayInNY: Stay strong this weekend! Don't POAS!

@sarahnicole218: I can't imagine going through all of this and not monitoring. It's all such a mysterious process to begin with - it's helpful having that view inside to see if everything is actually working. I'm a little behind on your story - do you think you'll switch to a monitored cycle if this one is not successful? (I hope it's successful and you don't even have to worry about this! )

@sweetooth: I think only this first cycle is un-monitored...but going forward, it will be more closely watched.

I got my surge! No more flashing smileys for me, I'm looking at a beautiful solid smiley face for the next 48 hours! I'll be calling the nurse practitioner on call this weekend to schedule my very first IUI for sometime tomorrow. I'm nervous, but also quite excited!

My first iui (and hopefully last) is scheduled for 2:00 today! I'm not certain I should be so excited, but I am...maybe just because we're finally taking steps to make a baby since doing it on our own wasn't working for us. I guess we'll see how I feel about after it's done!

OK, so IUI is done. I'm not sure how I feel about it. My cervix wasn't open, so she had to use some manipulates to open it, making it quite an uncomfortable experience. Shouldn't it have been open if I was truly ovulating?

I also haven't had the temp dip I usually get, and in fact, my temp was a lot higher yesterday for some reason, which should have been the day of my dip. And today, it was at the higher end of my pre-O temps. Our temperature inside our house has changed drastically over the last week due to falling temps outside and I don't know if that can affect BBT. Maybe I should just stop temping all together?

Why can't I shake the nerves and trust the process?

@sarahnicole218: awww I'm sorry you are having doubts, after all my IUIs I just relaxed as much as I could, I'd stop temping.... the IUI will do all.it can for you, but I will say it seems when nothing lines up is when the BFP accur :)))))

Lots of luck and prayers! Have some extra BD can't hurt

@FaithFertility: Thank you for your thoughts and prayers...I'm definitely going to stop temping and just relax. We plan to BD tonight too

@LindsayInNY: I have also been keeping you in my prayers! Looking forward to updates from you soon.

@LindsayInNY: @fotolori1: still sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

@sarahnicole218: It does seem odd that your cervix wasn't open for the IUI. I do think the benefit to monitoring is that there are so many moving parts when it comes to timing the magic of baby-making. I hope that this one IUI is all you need. It is SO hard to trust the process, but it's the best thing you can do. That, and put away the thermometer and just live life for the next two weeks. (so much easier said that done!)

Today is CD8, I'm waiting to hear if anything is changing in my dosage for the injections tonight. I've already had three monitoring appointments and I am thinking I need to switch arms when I get my blood drawn. My arm is getting sore There was this one guy who did blood draws before who was SOOO good, I never felt a thing and hardly ever had a bruise. This time around has been a little more painful. I'm hoping timing works out and I can have my IUI during the workweek and hopefully with my doctor. But there's a chance it might happen next weekend. We'll see.

    persimmon / 1259 posts

@sweetooth: Thanks for the advice! I am definitely putting the thermometer away! I'm going to trust my body. It has ovulated on it's on the past two months, there is no reason that with Clomid that I wouldn't have O'd. And actually, as the day as gone on, I've begun to experience my post-O symptoms - tender nipples and some cramping. So I just need to sit back and relax the next two weeks...ugh, can I?!

@LindsayInNY: Hoping today is the best day for you!

@sarahnicole218: 2 weeks always feels like an eternity! I try to plan some things to make the time pass. And I also have in place a good reward or indulgence if the result is positive or negative. That way, no matter what happens, I am prepared to take care of myself.

Well... I had a terrible cruel joke played on me this month. I started on Sunday. I was due on Wednesday. I had a blood test done and it was negative. It apparently was a corpus luteum cyst still producing progesterone that kept my temps up and kept me from starting. I am NEVER late, so I was so let down when the test was negative.

@Lindsayinny: When do you go for betas???

  22. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@fotolori1: I'm so sorry to hear that. Big hugs to you! I've never heard of a corpus luteum cyst, thank you for sharing. It's amazing how many ways this process can still baffle me. I hope you found a good way to take care of yourself after your blood test results. Are you already into another cycle?

@fotolori1: Ugh, I'm sorry... Corpus luteum cyst?! Never heard of such a thing but I hate it anyways! What a mind F. I hope you indulged a little bit this weekend...

I've had a voice mail sitting on my phone since 1pm with my blood work results... I'm waiting until I'm home with DH to listen. I texted him that it was 28 seconds long and he reminded me "come what may, it's in God's hands"...

Voicemail wasn't good news... So I cried a bit, although I'm sure there's more to come, and poured some wine. Trying to keep my negativity off here but that's all I'm feeling right now...

@LindsayInNY: I'm sorry I closed my eyes before I clicked on this thread and hoped for positive news from you. I wish just having support of others would help the IUI process end in a BFP. Take good care of you

  30. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: I prepped myself for the voicemail as though it was bad news and yet still reacted terribly when I listened to it. That's gotta be the worst job the nurse has - calling people with bad news. We're switching insurance companies this month so I'm hoping that doesn't delay next cycle... I guess only time will tell...

I just heard back from my nurse and I have two follicles today that we are watching. So I still have two more days of injections and another monitoring appointment on Friday. I really hope by then the follicles and all of the other numerical details are in order. Sometimes this process really gets me all nervous and anxious. Right now I'm worried about having enough medicine to make it to the trigger. My nurse said that I can always use any extra that I have on another cycle - but I'm trying to be positive here and think that THIS is my only cycle. I don't need to stock up on fertility meds!

Deep breaths...this is the point in the last cycle I did where I lost my cool. I just need to keep my shit together and keep swimming.

  32. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: I definitely don't envy those calls that the nurse has to make. I don't think it ever gets easier to listen to those voicemails. I hope that things transition well over to your new insurance and you're able to jump back in as soon as you are ready.

  33. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: Major deep breaths!!! And stick with the positivity - no need to stock up on meds!! That's also why I refuse to stock up on tampons I'm sure the nurse loves making the congrats calls but the other ones must suck. I'll ask her next time I go in

  34. fotolori1

    apricot / 386 posts

@lindsayinny: I am so sorry! I know how you feel. I have had 3 unsuccessful IUI's so far... this month will be my 4th, I just started clomid today. THIS IS GOING TO BE OUR CYCLE! I just know it!

About the Corpus Luteum Cyst, it is basically the follicle from which the egg ruptured. It's job is to produce progesterone until the placenta takes over. If no pregnancy has occurred, it will shrink and therefore stop producing progesterone causing your period to start. But mine... for some reason didn't shrink away when it was suppose to and so my period was late until it did. I had one when I was pregnant with my 9 year old that they watched for the first couple of months of my pregnancy, it got pretty big, but eventually went away.

@sweetooth: I have been curious about the injectables , that is going to by my next step I think. What do you think about them? Is this your first cycle with them? How pricey are they?

  35. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: I know just what you mean about the tampons! I've only been replenishing my supply as needed, but never buying in bulk.

@fotolori1: Wow, that's really interesting. I recall progesterone messing with my cycle start a bit, but never enough to make me think that I was potentially pregnant. Do they use the ultrasound wand to be able to see the cyst? Or is it just a bloodwork thing? // I am a fan of injectables because they resulted in our now 10 month old baby boy. We did 3 IUIs last time around, and the first 2 were with Clomid. The third, we changed it up and did injectables. It was intense with all of the monitoring appointments, but ultimately I think it allowed for a greater control of my cycle. As for price, my insurance covers them. But I go through freedom fertility pharmacy and you can take a look on there for an idea about cost. https://www.freedomfertility.com/fertility-medications/medications-and-pricing.aspx

I had my CD12 monitoring appointment today. I had a chat with my follicles before the ultrasound and they listened Three are of a good size, and so we trigger tonight and IUI on Sunday! The weather has been fantastic, I'm in a great mood and I'm just going to do my best to stay in a positive place for the next few weeks.

@fotolori1: We're going to be close together again!! I should be going in Monday and starting Clomid then. Woo!!

@sweetooth: Do you remember why you/your doctor went with injectables last time (over Clomid)?

  37. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: All of my numbers just weren't timing out right on Clomid, and it was thinning my lining. With injectables she could really monitor my E2, LH, and follicle growth, adjusting as we went to time it out just right. Are you still considering changing things up this cycle?

  38. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@sweetooth: The RE never tells me numbers or anything unless I pry. I can usually find out follicle number and size but my lining or other blood levels have never been mentioned. I go in Monday for CD4 blood work and u/s and I'm going to ask if there's anything else we could do differently this time. Can't hurt?

  39. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

I asked the RE whether there was anything different we could do this time around since another consult is recommended after three failed IUIs (this will be #3). She didn't recommend injectables but instead prescribed me Letrozole instead of Clomid. So we will see!

  40. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@LindsayInNY: Good luck with the Letrozole! I feel like switching things up is good. And as for the RE not sharing any numbers, it's your medical record. So if you want to know the details, they should be able to provide it. Although, sometimes I'd rather not know because maybe I'd be less neurotic about comparing numbers and over analyzing every little detail

I had my IUI on Sunday. I wore my husband's socks so he was there with me I'm hopeful for a speedy TWW and a great outcome. The beautiful fall weather we are having really helps to keep me in a great mood!
