@sweetooth: At this point, I figure it can't hurt to try something new!! The RE does share some numbers but not everything in detail. I have a friend whose RE gives her a clipboard and makes her write them down during the u/s. Mine isn't that detailed but will answer when I ask. FX for a quick TWW!!!

Hello,
I'm KayakGirl73. I'm going this afternoon to here the results of my fertility work-up and get my protocol for what I assume will be an IUI with Injectibles protocol.
In 2012 I after 18 months of trying including an un-monitored Clomid Cycle, I got pregnant doing an IUI cycle with Clomid and Injectibles.
My little girl is 20 months and I went off BC when she was six months old, so we'll see what happens.

@kayakgirl73: Hi there I remember you. Probably just from seeing your story on other IF threads over time. I have a 10 month old son who was conceived in 2013 on an injectables/IUI cycle after 20 months of trying. And now I'm in my TWW of another injectables cycle with IUI, hoping for luck and a BFP. Just letting you know I can relate on the injectables/IUI protocol. I hope you get good results this afternoon and can be on your way to a successful IUI and pregnancy with #2 soon!

Just checking in with everyone! I am waiting for Friday to get here so I can go for my 13 day ultrasound... this will be IUI cycle #4 for us. I am SO discouraged, but I am trying to stay positive.
@lindsayinny: How are you? Anything new going on?
@sarahnicole218: How are you feeling??
Thanks everyone for the kind words last cycle when I posted my update. I appreciate it! Not many places you can go to and vent about things like this and you all help so much!

@fotolori1: Not great. I caved and tested this morning (which I honestly never do). I am 11DPO/10 DPIUI, I am certain I O'd the day before my IUI, which would explain the closed cervix the day of the IUI. We'll be moving on to IUI #2, and I'm going to insist on more monitoring this time! Fx for you and your ultrasound on Friday!

@fotolori1: I'm doing well. Trying to ignore all symptoms because I think it's all the progesterone's fault. And just staying busy with work and life to make it through the TWW! And yes, HB is a great place support during all of this. It's nice to connect with others who just get it, you know? Good luck on Friday, hope everything looks good! It is SO hard to stay positive, but you never know, it could have just been a timing thing on your other cycles and IUI #4 could be the one!
@sarahnicole218: It's so hard to hold out and not test, isn't it? I'll still think positive thoughts for you because you're not out until AF shows up!
persimmon / 1259 posts
@sweetooth: Thank you for your positive vibes, I know you're not out until AF shows. I should add, however, that I did start feeling some pre-AF cramping and just have this general "not pregnant" feeling. Fx for you!!!

@fotolori1: Nada, just sitting tight! Letrozole/Femara/whatever seems fine - no symptoms (Clomid didn't either). So just waiting until Monday for a follow-up u/s! That'll be CD11 so we're pretty close to one another I stopped temping and am just letting things be so we'll see if that helps any! I hear ya on the discouragement... There was an IUI stat thread on here that only had a couple of poll votes but I remember odds of success were: 4 for 1st IUI, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd. So I try and remind myself of that to give me some hope. DH has already mentally moved on and thinks this won't work. I'm in between. I'm ready to move on if it doesn't work but man I hope it does...
@sarahnicole218: ((hugs))

@sarahnicole218: thank you! and I hope your cramping is implantation cramping
@LindsayInNY: I'm a 3rd IUI success story! I know it's hard, believe me, after my second IUI failed I was thinking - what do we do now? But then, things worked out for us on our 3rd IUI. I hope the letrozole/femara/whatever is just what you need to get your BFP. And no temping is a great idea too

@sweetooth: See, I love hearing stories like yours!! I am not giving up hope - it's far too soon for that!

Hello! Can i join? I am currently 9dpiui of my first IUI. DH and I have been trying for 16 months and I have no known fertility issues. Everything tested out fine for me. DH had a low count due to a varicocele vein, which was repaired last December. his counts are going up, and his post-wash numbers were 26.4 million. I did the ovidrel trigger shot the day before our IUI, which was killer for me! I have tested, and it is out of my system! I am praying for our BFP!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LSchrader: Hello! You can definitely join in! Your husband's numbers hardly sound like a low count to me, sounds like the repair did the trick! Best of luck to you and I hope that this IUI results in your BFP!
@LindsayInNY: Too soon indeed - keep that hope high! I think the mental part of this process plays a part in success too. Tell your husband to stick with you - 3rd time could be your charm!
apple seed / 3 posts
@sweetooth-Thank you! Yes, his numbers seem to have improved quite a bit. At our last RE appt, his count was much lower. So we are praying that they are just going up.

@LSchrader: Do you have a beta bloodwork appointment soon? Or are you just using home pregnancy tests? I hope you're doing well
I'm going a little nuts right now. Trying to continue to think positive. Hoping I find out that I'm pregnant in another week. And trying not to go out and buy any home pregnancy tests.

@sweetooth: Hang in there!!! Do you have to POAS yourself or go in for the RE to test?

I just called my new insurance... Good and bad news. Good news is apparently there are no copays, coinsurance or deductibles for IF treatment. Bad news is that they require 6 medicated cycles, with or without IUI, before moving to IVF (unless there are certain conditions/diagnoses already). So this will be cycle #4 of medication. Hopefully it works or I face two more... Oy.
apple seed / 3 posts
@lindsay-Ugh I have to say I am pretty jealous of your insurance!! The fact that they cover anything fertility related is huge!!!! Our covers nothing!!!! I need to get on yours!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LindsayInNY: I know someone else who had the same circumstances with her insurance. She was spent physically/mentally after her 4th IUI was unsuccessful. But she kept going through 2 more. Then, on her second IVF cycle, she got pregnant with twins. And now she's a mom with 2 babies to love!
I have my beta scheduled for 10/6. I currently have no HPTs at home, but I have a feeling by this time next week I'll be running to Target to buy one I'd like to be strong, but I also feel like I kind of want to know my fate before Monday afternoon.
bananas / 9229 posts
@LSchrader: We've lucked out... Sometimes I think it's because we're in IF-mandated states (NY and NJ) but then I read that what they're required to provide or cover isn't much? To be honest, my husband tends to work for fairly large, financial companies. I think that's a big part of it. Although I work at a big company and their benefits are not as good. So who knows! ETA: It's also the plan we picked - to have IF 100% covered but the premiums are definitely not cheap!
@sweetooth: I'm mentally okay, surprisingly. I'm not feeling super drained yet, despite the long journey that this has been. This will be medication cycle #4 so I can handle 2 more this year... It's interesting, when it comes to IVF, they try to limit multiples. So if you only transfer one fresh embryo and it fails, you can do a FET of one your next cycle for "free" without it counting towards your lifetime limit of three IVFs. So that's interesting! Oh man, October 6 seems so far away... I have mixed feelings. I dread the BFN at home but the voicemail telling me that news might have been harder to hear?
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LSchrader: How are you doing? Do you have a beta blood test soon?
@LindsayInNY: I'm glad to hear you're still in a good place mentally. Sounds like you're figuring out all of the ins and outs of your new insurance. I'm totally with you on that dreaded voicemail. I actually had a dream about it last night, just sitting there looking at my phone and not wanting to hit play on the voicemail. I think I'll be POAS next Sunday. I just don't think I have it in me to wait for the beta. Now...can I actually hold out until Sunday?
bananas / 9229 posts
@sweetooth: You can do it!!! Whenever you feel tempted, come post and I'll talk you off the POAS ledge

Anyone NOT have sex within the couple days before IUI? DH seems to have a bit of severe neck injury that he's been icing all night. We were told tonight is okay but not tomorrow. I'm triggering Wednesday morning with IUI Thursday morning. Will it be okay if we don't?!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@LindsayInNY: because my DH was sick we didn't have sex at all around our iui and we got pregnant! So don't worry if you can't!
bananas / 9229 posts
@marionberry: Okay, that makes me feel a ton better... I was feeling like we completely blew it but he's so miserable (he already called out of work tomorrow) that I know it won't be enjoyable anyways. We'll just have IUI and the night/day after then!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LindsayInNY: Thank you! I will definitely take you up on that
I can't believe it's already time for your IUI! And as for the sex within the couple days before the IUI, don't stress. I'm sure if you are able to have sex the night of & the day after it will help. I hope your husband feels better soon!

@sweetooth: I know, I feel like I *just* had my last IUI?! I told DH to get his butt to the doctor because I need this Thursday and Friday, LOL!

Just wanted to say Hi! I have been so busy with work that I haven't been on here at all for a week or so, but I am thinking of everyone. I just had my IUI on Sunday, so fingers crossed! Had 1 follicle that was 30mm!!! Then one that was about 14-15mm, and 3 others on the right side that were only 7mm BUT... I am hoping that big monster egg is THE egg! I have never had one that size. Biggest one was 23mm. My estradiol level was 926 so that's good! I go Monday for my progesterone level. I am SO ready for this month to be it!
Thinking about everyone and wishing everyone the best of luck!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LindsayInNY: Good luck today! Thinking good thoughts for a successful IUI! And hope your husband is feeling well and ready to do his part later
@fotolori1: Hi there! Being busy with work is good, makes time fly and gives your brain a rest from all of the TTC business. Wishing you LOTS of luck for your IUI. 30mm is a big one! It's good that there were some 14-15mm ones as well. Lots of options I hope this is your month!!!
I'm nearing the end of my TWW. Right now, there are no pregnancy tests in the house so I'm not tempted. BUT, I have been looking at the cycle where we got pregnant with our IUI and seeing when I POAS then. It was 2 days before my beta and I saw a faint line. So I'm thinking I'll either POAS Saturday or Sunday. I just don't want my week to start off with the beta and phone call. I'd rather go into next week knowing my fate.
nectarine / 2705 posts
For the record - I'm ready to POAS today. I'm glad there's nothing in the house to tempt me. But I REALLY want to drive to Target and buy some FRER!!!

I had my day three blood work and sono yesterday. I was told everything looks good to start the cycle so I started Clomid last light. I got back for monitoring on Tuesday and if all looks well I get a shot of Bravelle on Wednesday I think. For my successful cycle two and a half years ago I used Gonal-F. I think they said they are equivalent but that Bravelle is easier to use.
apricot / 386 posts
@sweetooth: TEST!!!!!!!
@kayakgirl73: Yay! I love to get the ok to proceed, feels like you are going somewhere! What is Bravelle? This month was my 4th IUI, (3rd "good" cycle as my first one was without monitoring). If I don't get pregnant this month, the next step is the injectables.
clementine / 750 posts
Bravelle is an injectable. Very similar to Gonal-F. The RE is having me use the Bravelle this time because it's easier to mix if you need multiple doses.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@kayakgirl73: Good luck this cycle! I got my BFP on my injectables cycle with Bravelle so I'll pass my good luck on to you with the Bravelle if you share your good luck that you had with the Gonal-F They switched me to Gonal-F this time because it's easier...funny that's what they told you with the Bravelle. Maybe it's because I used the pen and not the syringes?
@fotolori1: I know! I was going nuts yesterday because I wanted to test so badly! I but having been at this point already SO many times, I know better than to test just yet. I ordered some FRER from Amazon and hopefully they arrive tomorrow. I did it that way so I'd be forced to be patient and not test early. Hopefully my willpower holds out and I don't cave and go buy some today
@LindsayInNY: I hope your IUI went smoothly yesterday!
bananas / 9229 posts
@fotolori1: That is one monster egg!!! FX!!!
@sweetooth: I forced DH last night after he had an evening filled with x-rays and an MRI. Tough sh*t, LOL! Will Saturday or Sunday be the day this weekend?
As for me, IUI went well yesterday. Same RE (the head director guy) did is who did my first IUI. He uses an ultrasound thing at the same time to watch precisely where things are going (these are such technical terms...). The female RE didn't do that last time. I wasn't as crampy after as I was last time (with the female RE) but BD was not so enjoyable at night! I felt super crampy during it but whatever, we do what we gotta do!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@LindsayInNY: Isn't it crazy that we have to force our husbands at all? There are times my husband is like - really? And I'm like - YEAH! Let's do this! I'm sorry to hear about all of the testing your husband is going through for his pain. I do hope he is ok! Fingers crossed that this is your BFP IUI!!!
My amazon box came a day early...my FRER tests are in the house...I'm trying to tell myself NOT to pee on them right now. It's the afternoon, it will be weak, wait until the morning...blahblahblah...HELP! I want to go pee on a stick SO BAD!!!
My beta is Monday. But I'm testing at home tomorrow...maybe Sunday. Probably tomorrow. Maybe today. EEK! Why did Amazon have to be so speedy with this delivery?
bananas / 9229 posts
@sweetooth: As much as I talk about cycles and Oing, I don't think he really gets it. He thought the IUI was it and I was like umm, no, it's just to get the swimmers inside of me before I O! I told him he was needed tonight too, LOL. At least now he's got Percocet?! Stupid Amazon, why did you have to be early?! No afternoon, diluted pee POAS allowed!!! Only FMU!!
bananas / 9229 posts
@sweetooth: Just keep peeing all day so you have no choice but to wait!!
apricot / 386 posts
@lindsayinny: I am right there with you on having to force DH sometimes, you would think he would be all for it, but after so long it starts to seem like a chore. I am sorry your hubby is having a hard time! Hopefully he will get better soon!
@sweetooth: Don't do it!!!! lol
persimmon / 1259 posts
@sweetooth: DON'T DO IT! But my fingers are crossed for you!!
@LindsayIn NY: I am glad to here this IUI was an good experience for you, I'm moving on to my second one and hoping it is less painful than my first one. Fx!!
