@agold: I hope my gut feeling that this has worked for you, is right!
I started bleeding again yesterday (post Provera... a PROPER cycle) so yeah, it means we're good to go for January. My question is....
I need something to control this cycle (since I have no natural cycles, it goes on indefinitely with no meds.)
So would you...
Take Letrozole & just have a controlled-ish Femara cycle/TI.. not that I have any faith in it, but if I O, I should at least get a period?
or...
Back on BCP for a cycle?
I'm not sure what I should do. I'm sick of hormonal BCP (Provera alone has made me break out in the worst cystic acne) but I'm also worried Letrozole won't work and we'll end up wasting our time.
Meep.

@jaguar: Have you taken letrozole before? is there anything they can do if you don't get your period timely? I hated taking BCP, so I'd lean the way of letrozole. However, I do ovulate normally, so I can completely see why you would be concerned about it. What does your gut say to do?

@agold: I'd ask about med changes- does anything stop or start when you find out you're pregnant? I have a good feeling for you! We need some positives on this board.
I found out I got on the commission I wanted- yea! I would have been happy getting on any, but this is a bonus. It feels like I haven't had good news in so long and it feels so good. I have been pretty negative lately and DH and I are trying to be more positive going into IVF. I keep trying to brace myself for disappointment, but getting a bfn hurts no matter what. Maybe the positivity is what we need.

@NorthStar: I'm sick of the pill. Today is CD2, so if I were to take Letrozole, I'd start today (I always do 2-6) - yes, I've done before. It's been hit/miss. If I take it, I'll track with OPKs again.

Thank you for your quick responses!! Love you girls!
@NorthStar: Oh gees. I can only imagine taking that call in the grocery store. I would have just left my cart, went by the wine aisle, and left. You poor girl. I agree that we need a BFP around here. Mine or someone elses! We need some cheer!
@jaguar: I hope your gut feeling for me is right, too! I actually don't have any gut feeling for myself. I feel nothing.
As for you, since you don't want to take the BCP, if you go first with the Letrozole and it does not work, will you be set back very much time-wise if you have to stop and switch to birth control? I would just weigh (a) how much you hate birth control against (b) how much of a delay you are willing to accept to avoid the birth control. In any event, I'm so happy to hear you are moving forward with all of this.
@AmeliaBedilia: I do already know that the meds i'm currently on - PIO, estradial and medrol - will all stop if the test is negative. Hopefully my period comes quick. Although, I don't anticipate doing an egg retrieval again until spring 2016 because of (a) work and (b) my aching back and hips from shifting PIO lumps.
As for you, congrats on the commission! Use that to start off your new positive attitude!

@agold: fingers crossed for you!!!!! I think you can totally let the doc know how you want to hear the news. Honestly, I would just wait on asking questions until you need to schedule that follow up appt and I HOPE that doesn't even happen. You'll just worry!
@jaguar: that's a difficult decision...is it a full 4 weeks of BCP or can you squeeze it down to 3?
@ameliliabedilia: congrats!!! Good news is good news!!!

I thought my RE was going to do a lower dose of estrace for 6 days, starting the day before we fly back from Paris. I had asked about starting one day later due to the risk of blood clots in legs or lungs (I have some risk factors for this anyway). The nurse just replied that the lower dose of estrogen was referring to birth control pills, and he wants me on estrace 2mg for 6 days, and called in twelve, so twice daily. My RE said he'd look at the schedule about starting a day later and they will get back to me. I'm a little irritated. Six days of estrogen is pushing my breaking point, let alone a very high dose. To me, this is worse than everything else except it not working- needles, bloating, etc. are not nearly as bad as the estrogen/risk of stroke/blood clots/migraines. Then I worry also about being a bad patient, but it's one thing to not want to take something due to a minor side effect, and another one to not want a blood clot or stroke.
Did anyone do an estrace lead in? If so, how long, and what dose and frequency? Is there any science to the six days? I'm wondering if taking it vaginally would reduce any of the problems.

@Mrs. Pinky: Thanks. You are right about asking for the follow up appointment AFTER and if I get a negative blood test. Thanks, lady. That's what I will do.
@AmeliaBedilia: Do you have an abnormally increased risk for blood clot or stroke? I feel like those are normal risks associated with birth control and whatnot and I never really thought twice about them. I am not a migraine sufferer, but how bad will they be? Do you think you can take a couple of days off of work and just suffer through them all of the sake of doing what your doctor requires for the IVF to work? Its such a sucky position to be in. I'm having a really hard time with the PIO shots and I'm totally suffering through it. But I know migraines are a whole different level of pain.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@agold: Yes, I have anti phospholipid antibodies, focal migraines, and a significant family history of stroke and blood clots. I have terrible side effects with cabergoline (fatigue, depression, anger, dizziness) and cannot exercise much at all on it (I was five times a week prior), and have been dealing with them, but while Miserable, they are not permanent or life threatening. I'm willing to do a lot for a baby, but I'm terrified of a stroke.

@AmeliaBedilia: Oh gees. In your situation, I would be so worried too. I hope you can find an acceptable solution to this situation. I'm so sorry you have all these extra hurdles to deal with.

I decided on Letrozole. At least then I'm doing SOMETHING. And worst case, I do another Provera run. It'll be mid-late January regardless, I hope. Not much of a difference either way!

@jaguar: Yay! Glad you get to move on! You sound genuinely excited about Letrozole so it must be the right decision!
@agold: OMG! I can't believe it's almost beta day! Wishing so hard that you are super knocked up! I have a crazy day tomorrow so if I don't respond right away, just know I'll be thinking of you...and celebrating.
@AmeliaBedilia: Hey, your ET and my FET will be around the same time! Mine is 1/14. You, me and @GreenThumb will be in the tww together! @Aqualov, too, maybe?
Sorry I'm not keeping up so well! The whole work thing last week sucked me dry. However, I did fare pretty well out of it and got promoted plus a big pay raise. Naturally they are expecting a lot out of me so these next few months will probably challenge me greatly! I'm secretly unsure if that's a good thing for me or not, but it's exactly the opportunity to not pass on in life! I did, however, kind of forget to order my meds with all the hubbub. I don't need them until Friday so I'm not freaking out yet. I will order them tomorrow first thing!

@jaguar: glad you get to move on!
@Amorini: congrats on the promotion and raise! I'm glad we will have a few of us going through together. We need to start the year off with some BFPs.

@agold: Good luck tomorrow! Positive thoughts :). I think you had the endometrial biopsy done before your FET right? I have mine on Wed. How bad was it pain-wise?
@amorini: Congrats!

@Amorini: Thank you for your hard wishes!! Congratulations on the pay raise! I hear you on the fear of having to work more. But just rock it! You've got this, girl! As for ordering meds, as long as you get them when you need them, who cares when you order them! So no stress there.
@dookie32: Thanks for the positive thoughts. I absolutely need them right now. You are right - I did have the endometrial biospy before this FET. I'm not going to lie... for a moment it hurt so bad it took my breath away. But it was all quick and I went to work after wards without much issue at all. And, best of all, I survived. You most likely will, too. Good luck!
It's a good test to have done so totally worth it.

@AmeliaBedilia: @GreenThumb: @NorthStar: Wow! Thanks, girls! I just took my blood test. Eeekk! I'm prepared for either outcome. Expecting negative, hoping positive. Meanwhile, I treat myself to starbucks anytime I get blood drawn... today i was given a GREEN tea latte instead of a CHAI tea latte. Ugh. Is that even a thing??? I'm scared to try it.

@jaguar: If you don't mind me asking, did your recent loss cause many delays with respect to jumping back into an ivf cycle? I'd been planning on starting ivf in January but am now pregnant with what is likely a blighted ovum and I am trying to figure out how this situation is going to impact my timing (emailed my doctor but still haven't heard back). Did you have to wait a couple months or were you able to dive in after your first period?

@agold: good luck! FWIW, I think green tea is much better than chai.

@AmeliaBedilia: I think you are right, but I won't know because I took one little sip and trashes the whole thing. My boss is already bothering me. I should have called in sick. My doctor should call between 11 am and 1 pm. He will NOT leave a voice message. Thanks for reminding me to clarify that with the nurse.

@agold: Yayayayayay!! I've been refreshing this page all day waiting to seeā¦ I had a great feeling this morning that it was going to be for you!!! So happy!! Giving you a virtual big hug! Congratulations!

@NorthStar: Beta was 179. That's good enough, I hope. From all my searching on instagram, I was thinking that I just wanted over 100, so I'm happy with 179. Now just hoping so hard that this baby will keep growing!

@agold: Yes, that is great! A girlfriend's beta was 135 and she is currently 7.5 weeks, so I think that you are good. Will they have you come back to make sure that it is doubling ok? I'm SO happy for you!

@NorthStar: I go back on Friday. Thank you so much. My doctor called and he sounded really down when he asked for me. Then he put the call on speaker phone and his office erupted into a party! I cried! I'm still secretly crying in my office. Just emailed my boss and said I have to go home early. Can't contain myself here!
@GreenThumb: Thank you so much!
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: oh my gosh, how mean! but, also, so sweet that a lot of people were involved congratulating you! Yes, totally go home and celebrate! Your boss probably isn't liking you very much right now, but you know what? Who cares?! you are pregnant, lady! You are going to tell your husband tonight, right?
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@agold: GAH! I TOLD YOU SO! Yay!
@Shantuck: Yeah, it always causes delays with me - but I can't do anything properly.. I don't have cycles, so I needed help to have one. With that said, this recent miscarriage took two months to have hcg levels resolve to 0... so massive waits.

@Aqualov: @endymion4: @dookie32: @bloved: @jaguar: Thank you so very much girls! I'm still in shock.
I wanted to wait until I got home to "surprise" my husband with a little box of stuff I used to compile for this exact "surprise". But he knew the blood test was today. He works nights so he should be sleeping but he started calling me. I just looked at the phone and let it go to voicemail! I didn't know what to do! But then I called him to tell him because I felt like he must be going through torture if he wasn't sleeping. I cried when I told him! He is so excited that I think maybe he was crying too!
@AmeliaBedilia: Oh my gosh. I couldn't hardly muster any words to my doctor when he called. But I don't think both stuck. The numbers just seem very "normal" or whatever.

@agold: Congrats!
@jaguar: Thanks. Ugh. Not looking forward to that part.
