@agold: Awww, how sweet! Of course he was excited and couldn't sleep. Do you blame him?!
Another girlfriend's first beta was over 300 and she just found out that she is having twins (they only transferred one), so with your beta, i think you are right. My guess would be one. Hope you can do something to celebrate tonight! Is your husband working?

@agold: Yay!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Hopefully this is the first in a long string of BFPs for the IVF boards - we've had too much heartbreak on here lately and it's about time for things to turn around!!!! Best wishes for a sticky little baby!!!!!!

@agold: AMAZING news!!!! Congratulations!!!! Any signs or symptoms in hindsight??

@agold: just lurking and popping in to say congrats! That's a great beta. I think mine was 150ish? It was a singleton. Best wishes!

@NorthStar: Thanks for telling me about your friend. My husband called in sick! We will celebrate but I don't know how. I usually celebrate with champagne so.....
@momazon: Thank you. And seriously... I'm so hopeful for all of the girls who are beginning their meds for January retrievals and transfers.
@Mrs. Pinky: Thank you! Zero symptoms. Well nothing that I couldn't justify by the huge amount of progesterone and estrogen I take in the butt every day.
@travellingbee: Thank you so much for the wishes. I think my husband would be happy with a singleton!
@mrsjd: and @mrswin: Thank you girls!

@agold: Congratulations!!! My beta was lower than yours, 70 or so I think, and I had no symptoms either. I like to celebrate with ice cream now a days

@agold: Gah! Pregnant! Positively happy for you! Soak it all up! It's happening! Great beta! .... Ah, so many exciting things to say with exclamation points!!!
Sorry I haven't been able to join in the congrats until now, but I've been celebrating since I peeked at HB earlier this afternoon! Hoping you and your DH wake up with much peace, joy and happiness for your first fully pregnant day (that you are aware of).

Meds are all on their way. Payment due tomorrow to RE- good times. I have my first monitoring appointment, saline sonogram, and testing for STDs tomorrow morning. I hope I can get to work on time. I asked about mock transfer, and the nurse said he wouldn't since I've had IUIs and he didn't have any trouble getting them in. Does that sound reasonable? It just seems like everyone on here has had them lately. I'm just so nervous, worrying about everything that could go wrong.
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: yeah, that seems reasonable. My mock transfer felt just like an IUI and took less than 20 seconds, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Good luck tomorrow!!
I got my Winfertility quote and OMG - $4,200! I have a friend who is donating me some menopur and follistim, so that will save me a lot. I need to look into some of the other meds to see if they are covered by insurance, plus, look at the stash at home. I should be able to get it down to about $2,000 - $2,500 (hopefully). Didn't someone say that Menopur was really expensive at Winfertility? I wonder if I would get better pricing just getting that from Freedom.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: Menopur was $75-80 almost everywhere including freedom who publishes prices online, but a little higher at winfertility. If you have time and don't mind getting them from the UK, IVF pharmacy is $350 for 10 vials. $25 shipping, guaranteed in two weeks. My gonal f was $170 for a 300 unit pen (they were out of follistim 300 which would have been 160 plus pen). Winfertility has the best US price ($205 for follistim).

@AmeliaBedilia: I didn't do one before my first FET. I don't think it's standard at least not with my dr. The ERA biopsy we are doing now is only because my first FET failed and they want to make sure the timing is good so we don't waste any of our other PGD-tested embryos.

@agold: Coming out of lurkdom to say congratulations!!! Thrilled to see some good news on this board. Wall me if you want to chat about pregnancy post-IVF. I know the wait for betas, u/s etc can be tough. But this is amazing news, so happy for you gal. xo

Crazy alert: I keep worrying about what can go wrong in IVF. I had a bad dream about all the embryos dying. I haven't even started stimming and am scared I'll get a call after ER that none of the embryos make it. After 2.5 years of always being in the bad percentage, I keep thinking that I'll always be in that bad percentage. Thanks for your patience!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@MrsKRB: Thank you so much. And thanks for telling me about your beta number? What dpt was your first beta? Mine was 11dp6dt. I POAS when I got home from work and it said 1-2 week pregnant. I got a tad nervous. I did another one this morning and it said 2-3 weeks. Phew.
@Amorini: Thank you so much, lady. I am sure you will be following right behind me with your FET.
@AmeliaBedilia: How exiciting to be ordering your meds! (Minus the payment part.) At least you found yourself an awesome deal. As for the mock transfer... Mine didn't have anything to really do with what an IUI was. It was more a "mock cycle" that was done to determine the amount of meds that were needed to get my lining built up just right. At the end of it, my lining was biospsied to check that it was okay. But I can imagine that all doctors have different procedures so if your's thinks it isn't necessary for you, then I would just trust him. And try not to think about bad scenarios. all you can do is do your best and give IVF a try. Don't worry about what you can't control.
@NorthStar: Wow, that's a high win fertiity quote! Although, my original meds quote was over $5,000, so I feel your pain. Angel with Winfertility specifically told me that Winfertility does not offer the best price on menopur. Menopur was the most expensive medicine I had to order so it sort of dictated where I ordered from. I'm sure you will get a great price. It already seems like you might have a way to cut the quote in half! That would be awesome!
@dookie32: Have you already had your biopsy today? I hope it went/goes quickly and painlessly!! I had to look up "ERA biopsy" but it sounds exactly like what I had done. I hope it does the trick for you!!!
@YogiRunner: Thank you so much for your post. I will take you up on your offer. I really feel like I'm in limbo!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: I second Agold that Angel was super helpful in figuring out pricing. Many people would not tell you much at all. Angel followed the rules but still let you figure out what you needed to know.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@agold: thanks. I saw a Pinterest quote: stop thinking what can go wrong and start thinking what can go right. I'm trying to do that.
cherry / 107 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: A mock transfer was required for me, but my RE described it as necessary because it's 'making a road map for the transfer'. Since you've already had IUI's with no trouble they already have your 'roadmap' so I wouldn't worry about them not doing the mock transfer. Easier said than done, I know:)

I just received an IVF checklist in the mail and feeling overwhelmed, even though I feel like I've been on top of things. Some of the stuff is scheduled for Friday, they overlooked my last thyroid labs, but it also lists optional genetic screening, optional but highly recommended DFI (sperm DNA fragmentation), scheduling teaching appointment, getting folder, etc. DH has been taking supplements and we are doing ICSI. Neither of us have any weird genetic diseases, and have never conceived, so no miscarriages. I'll ask Friday, but do you think there is a benefit to either? Did you do any of these tests?
nectarine / 2192 posts
IVF #1 (and hopefully last) paid for- $9150. If we have any to freeze, it will be $900 more. Good times. (Though I will gladly pay $900 to have some frozen.)
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Yay! Also, is any of the extra screening stuff they suggested covered by insurance? I recently had a whole bunch of genetic screening done and it was 100% covered (even though my IVF is totally out of pocket). If it is covered, why not? I felt better knowing we had ruled out a few more potential issues before heading into the IVF. I don't think we've had the fragmentation thing done, so I don't know what the benefits of that are if you are doing ICSI.
AFM: Meds are all ordered and will arrive next week. Only 8 more BCPs! I've been spotting the whole time on the pill and I can't wait to be done. I'm assuming/hoping this is going to make my AF nearly nonexistent right after Christmas, so that's good. We are starting on a really low dose of stims (37.5 Gonal-F, 75 Menopur) since I had an over response for IVF#1. Hoping that plus the metformin, lovenox, and all the vitamins does the trick!
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Yay! When do you leave for Paris?
@GreenThumb: That's awesome that your meds are coming soon! when do you start stimming? I'm curious what they had you on prior that caused the overstimming and what happened (sorry, I'm having a hard time keeping up with everyone's stories)? I'll be doing 150iu of menopur and 300iu of follistim per day on my next cycle! seems so high! I hope this is the right combination for you to make this work!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@GreenThumb: I haven't met my deductible, so it will be at our cost regardless, but good thought. I'm going to ask tomorrow. Given he hasn't mentioned it prior, I bet they're not super important but we will see. I don't think I'll get enough embryos to make PGS worthwhile.
@NorthStar: our trip is 12/20-12/27. I start estrace around when we get back- will clarify tomorrow. I'll be on estrace six days, then stims. I'm still trying to learn a little French and figure out sights to see.
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: I'll try to keep this short . When I did IVF#1 in 2012 at age 34 I started with 150 Gonal-F and 75 Menopur, but my estrogen level got out of control pretty quickly even though they stepped my Gonal-F down twice. I had 39 eggs retrieved (they shouldn't have been surprised in hindsight - my AMH was 5.49 and my AFC at baseline was 23). That fresh cycle failed and I had 10 frozen embryos. We've done 4 FETs with a total of 9 embryos and have had one successful singleton (DD who is 2.5). New RE thinks that the embryo quality was poor due to overstim since nothing has come up in all sorts of subsequent testing for me and DH. We start stimming on 12/30! What is your schedule like? Your med levels sound much more typical than mine. I think my RE is just being uber-conservative.
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I agree - I feel like they would have had you do anything really important prior to this since you are so close to starting your cycle! Can't wait to hear all about your trip! I went to France as a sophomore in high school and would love to go back someday. I remember Sacre Coeur being very beautiful and a simply fantastic chocolate crepe from a street vendor in Montmartre .
nectarine / 2192 posts
@GreenThumb: that number of eggs blows my mind! My doc predicted 10-15. Quality at 35 "is a mixed bag" in his words. I hope we can get enough for two kids (who knows how many that is?) so we do t have to stim again.
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I'm definitely hoping for less than 15 eggs this time! I'm almost 38 now and we really thought that we were going to be good with the 1 fresh cycle since we had all those frozen embies. I'm not sure how many more times we will try if this cycle fails. Definitely no more fresh cycles... maybe an FET or 2 if we have embryos.

@GreenThumb: @AmeliaBedilia: @Aqualov: @NorthStar: Excited for all of these fresh cycles about to start!

First monitoring appointment went fine. AFC about 15. Saline ultrasound showed my uterus is normal. I don't start estrogen until 12/29 and only on for four days! Yay! Start stims 1/2. My FSH dose is initially 375 for two days, then recheck. If he keeps me that high after that, I will order more. Egg retrieval estimated 1/13, hopefully transfer is 1/18. I don't need to rest after transfer, just no high impact activities. He estimated my chance of extras to freeze is 50% (usually 70% but lower due to my AMH). Maybe this is unrealistic, but I'm disappointed- part of what convinced me to do IVF is the idea of not having to go through all this for #2. Trying to stay positive.
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: 15 is pretty good for AFC and you don't want to get too many anyway as it can compromise egg quality and then you would be at risk for OHSS. YAY for moving along and soon you will be in Paris!
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: That sounds like a good appointment! Definitely don't go down the rabbit hole of statistics and percentages (if you can help it). I don't even ask anymore even though I want to know everything... ignorance is definitely bliss for me.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@tequiero21: Thank you so much!
@GreenThumb: Hi! Thanks for asking! I did have a beta this morning. My number went from 179 to 809! I'm so relieved. I go back Monday for a third. My doctor takes betas until patients reach 1,000. Once I reach 1,000, then I get an ultrasound. So I should be in for an ultrasound on Tuesday if all goes right! So in short - I'm feeling a lot better! Phew!
@AmeliaBedilia: That does sound like a great appointment! 15 is a great number! And like greenthumb said... stay out of the rabbit hole of statistics! Don't worry about IVF#2 before you even start IVF#1!!! Best of luck!

@agold: thanks, so excited you got great results. Maybe it is twins.

@AmeliaBedilia: Ha! Nope, I really don't think so. I was be very surprised. Should know by next week though!
