@agold: That's a big jump, lady. Just be prepared for anything from here on in!!!!
pear / 1986 posts
@agold: So glad you are getting great numbers!! I think with DD my first US was at 5 weeks 6 days. That was definitely when the nervousness of IF faded and the nervousness of pregnancy began ! It will be great for you to see that little bean!!!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@bloved: Thank you!
@jaguar: Thanks.. I am absolutely prepared for anything - mostly for these numbers to drop and it all to come crashing down. Twins is the least of my concern. My husband's concerns are flip-flop of mine!
@GreenThumb: I don't know what I will be considered in terms of weeks and days next Tuesday. I had a 6-day transfer on December 4th. Do you have any idea how to count that out? I know it will be so early on Tuesday so I don't think I can expect to see much. I guess i will be happy to see a sac?!? I don't know!
pear / 1986 posts
@agold: So I think you would be 5 weeks tomorrow! I think most people don't see a heartbeat until after 6 weeks, but you'll definitely know if there's one or two in there!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@GreenThumb: 5 weeks is certainly an exciting assessment! Thanks, lady! I'll just be happy to see anything at all. I'm not going to google what I should see at that time. I'm trying so hard to just stay positive and focus on "i am pregnant today" rather than on all the things that can go wrong.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@agold: Yay! So glad the good news is continuing and you are staying positive! Enjoy not getting smashed at your event this weekend because you're PREGNANT!
@GreenThumb: @agold: I totally "third" the motion to not get hung up on statistics! Case and point: Today at my clearing u/s to start hormone supression, I sat out in the waiting room with a gal who had her first at 39 (IUI #1) and is now trying for her second at almost 41 with another IUI. Our RE gave her a 35% chance the first time and is giving her 20% this time. She has a few other friends who are using our RE for IUIs and IVF and they are having success, too. We talked about the percentages they give us at "our age" and how they just don't mean a whole lot. The odds can be so stacked against you and you can win! Or they can be in your favor and you can come up empty-handed. And every combination in-between.
I think this dear lady was in the waiting room for a reason and I hope she thinks I was there for a reason that means something to her!
So the lovely Lupron starts tomorrow! It's so great that I might only have one more u/s to check the lining and then my transfer! I did cry when my meds came. Just looking at that mountain of E2 and P and knowing my body could do this naturally, if it weren't for the pesky sperm count issue. And, really, the Crinone (messy vaginal suppositories) make me Cry and Cringe the most. But I snapped out of it and I'm truly grateful to be on my way to uniting with my snowbabies!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: Its so nice to hear you met a sweet girl at your RE's office waiting room and was able to have a great conversation with her. I'm wishing you all the best as you gear up for this FET. How did the lupron shots start out? I hear you on crying as you look at your box of meds. My backside and hips are killing me. Still, two-three shots daily for the next 8ish weeks if I'm lucky and I'm always thinking in the back of my mind that this is just a sperm issue we are having and all these shots are unnecessary for me. Its not good to think that way, though, and I try to be so happy to even have this opportunity. I'm glad you snapped out of it too! Just know you aren't alone in all those thoughts.

Ugh, I thought my Freedom Pharmacy order was all set, but they forgot to give me a discount on two things, so instead of getting them tomorrow, they may come on Wednesday instead. At least I had everything calculated correctly and knew what to expect! And I don't need them until next week, so no harm done really. Feeling a little down and nervous lately. Just want to get going already. I hate BCPs - I'm hormonal and have broken out all over - fun times!
pear / 1881 posts
@GreenThumb: oh no! Were they good about calling your back with your pricing? I'm waiting since I had them update my order on Thursday. I'm thinking of calling them soon..
What day do you start your meds? I hate BCP too. My libido goes down the tubes when I'm on it..
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: I had been waiting on the final price since last week, too. And then it was wrong when they called today . So she said it might delay the shipping by a day. I did try to call on Friday, but they just put me off and said it hadn't been processed yet. They've been good with my meds in the past, so I just hope this is a little hiccup. I don't start meds until 12/30, so there is still a good amount of time. BCPs are done on Christmas! Can't wait!
When do you get started?
pear / 1881 posts
@GreenThumb: sounds like I better give them a call! I'm trying to split the meds between Freedom and Winfertility since Menopur is likely cheaper at Freedom and Follistim at Winfertility. I don't need my meds until end of February; however, I want to take advantage of the tax medical deduction by paying for them in December 2015. My luck, I'll pay for $3K in meds in December, get pregnant on my own in January (before I start BCP end of Jan/beg of February) and then be stuck with the $3k in meds. If that happens, I suppose that will be the least of my concerns.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@agold: Thanks for your kind words, especially saying that I'm not alone in getting a little dark and grim, from time to time. I truly don't stay there but I do feel guilty about it afterwards, which isn't so great for the psyche either.
The Lupron shots hurt this time. I say prayers for the snowbabies before the needle goes in, but ouch this time. I'm also feeling bloated and ... well, a little angry ... on this particular regime. So weird what these drugs do to us. I'm on BCPs until Wednesday then wait for a Lupron period before starting Estrace orally.
@GreenThumb: Sorry to hear about all of the runaround with your meds! The things we do for discounts, right?! I hope it all gets ironed out before this holiday week is in full swing so you don't have to think about it.
@GreenThumb: @NorthStar: I hear you ladies on the icky effects of BCPs and the like. Sending hugs and hoping @GreenThumb that you can stay busy and keep yourself on the 'up' as you get ready to switch gears! Even though I'm not doing a stim cycle this time, just know I'm with ya' each step of the way!
@NorthStar: That would be some kind of crazy luck if you got knocked-up naturally after buying your meds. I think the silver lining would outweigh any downside, any cost! Smart girl (and accountant) to load up your 2015 with as many write-offs as you can. I'm doing the same since we paid for almost everything upfront in our multi-cycle discount program. My 2015 medical expenses spreadsheet for the accountant is crazy long and should yield a nice return, if I'm reading correctly!
Oh, the simple joys...

@GreenThumb: I hear you. I get terrible acne and mood swings every time I'm on hormonal BC.

Hi ladies!
@agold: did you get your third beta yesterday?
@amorini and @greenthumb looks like we have very similar schedules with @ameliabedilia and @northstar not too far behind...maybe @jaguar too!
I stop BCP on 12/29 and have my first FET monitoring appt on 12/31. I'll start IM delestrogen on 12/31 as well(every three days) until the FET on 1/15! We are going to transfer (hopefully) both frosties. My clinic typically issues PIO
after the transfer but I'm going to participate in a study that may change that up a bit.
Hope everyone is doing well!
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: LOL - yes, I'd take getting knocked up naturally any day over going through stims again. You reminded me that I need to get all my receipts together and get it all ready to go. We also did the multi cycle discount, so do you think that you will include that in your medical deductions this year? I am on the fence, but my husband reminded me that god forbid this doesn't work and we get our money back, we can always amend our return and take it back out (and then pay back the money ). It would be nice to get a sizable refund to pay off our IVF costs on our credit card (or at least mostly do so)..
I wish I felt more comfortable with buying meds from overseas, but I think that I will just buy from a pharmacy in the U.S.. I'm too nervous about getting what I paid for that I'm just splitting between Freedom and Winfertility.
I'm so sorry that the Lupron is hurting! Is it stinging?? Sending you strength to get through your next shots and you will be there soon!
pear / 1881 posts
Have any of you girls used the $300/vial coupon (up to 3 pens) on Follistim's website? I wonder if I could make this work? I wouldn't be able to use with Winfertility, but perhaps somewhere else..
persimmon / 1132 posts
@NorthStar: Yes, we'll go for the deduction this year. Ours isn't a guarantee / money-back program so no use waiting until next year, I guess. Might as well take the deduction now!
Lupron is kind of stinging, yes. I think it swells/bloats me up and that makes the injections hurts more. It literally makes my whole body swollen. My eyes were like little slits this morning with major bags!
I inquired with different pharmacies about that same Follistim coupon. I can't remember what they told me exactly (sorry!), but I do recall that the WinRx price was still cheaper ... Good luck with getting the best deal. Like you, I'd be hesitant about going with out-of-country meds unless I had lots of time or assurances or direct experiences with it all going super easy.

@Mrs. Pinky: You're so right! We ladies are all going to be in the TWW together!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Mrs. Pinky: Hi! Thanks for remembering. My third blood test was 2,753. I just needed my 809 to double so I was happy with that number. Anything over a 1,000 would have gotten me an ultrasound so now I go for my first one tomorrow morning. I could have gone today but tomorrow is better for my husband's work schedule. I'm happy the numbers are doubling and will start to feel at ease once I see a heartbeat. My sister once had a blighted ovum so I'm nervous about that.
But I'm so very excited about all of the good stuff that is coming up in January for you, @amorini: , @greenthumb: , @ameliabedilia: and @northstar: I really thought I would be joining you all. Now I'm going to absolutely keep following and I'll be wishing you girls all the best of luck!
@NorthStar: I didn't feel comfortable ultimately with the overseas medicine options I was given. My RE told me that the medicines would be similar, but not the same at all. I really wanted to be on the same meds that everyone here was on in case I had questions, you girls could all help me since you all were on the same meds. And its so nice to be able to call up your local-ish pharmacy and get a re-order sent to you overnight when you need it. As for follistim coupons, I used a 50% coupon. That, combined, I think, with the pharmacy using my insurance to cover some of the other meds, made MDX/Encino pharmacy cheaper than winfertility. Check to see if your insurance covers any of the meds. My crappy insurance covers oral meds and, surprisingly, one vial of estrogen a month. The coverage on estrogen saves me over $100 on each vial.
@Amorini: I'm so sorry that the lupron is hurting! It makes me think back to when I was on menopur. If I recall correctly, that one burned each time. And yes, I'm hoping to get a tax benefit from all this medical stuff, too!!
kiwi / 538 posts
@agold: Those are great numbers! If it makes you feel any better I had 2 blighted ovums and even though my numbers rose a good amount they never actually doubled within the 48 hour time span. Hope everything goes well with the ultrasound .
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@dookie32: Thank you. That does actually make me feel a little bit better, but I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I haven't told my family yet so I haven't been able to ask my sister about the circumstances of her blighted ovum. But she is so not a details kind of girl so I don't even expect her to remember. I actually didn't even tell my family exactly when I went through the FET. I am going to tell them on Christmas Day, though, when opening presents.
kiwi / 538 posts
@agold: From what I remember they were looking for there to be a yolk sac by 5 - 5 1/2 weeks which was when I had my first ultrasound. I got pregnant on my own so they told me not to worry when they didn't see it because my dates could have been off but I knew exactly when I had ovulated. Once I got the HCG numbers I knew it was pretty much done. I know it's really hard to not worry but there's no reason to think there is anything wrong. Positive thoughts girl!!!

@agold: Yea! I'm so curious if it's one or two babies in there. So excited for you either way!
I'm just sending a little love from Paris. It's so beautiful here! We are having a great time! I'm trying not to think about impending ivf, but telling myself that it will work, or we will go on more trips like this. Obviously hoping for the former. I was worried about my meds since as of last night, the tracking still said they weren't in the US. Then this morning, it said NY, and a few hours later they were delivered to my mom. For those of you contemplating overseas meds, I got mine from IVFpharmacy in 7 business days. (They guarantee 10.) I had reviewed with her what went in the fridge, so just hoping my dad doesn't go in the vegetable drawer- he rarely cooks, so it will probably be ok.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I'm curious about the same thing! I'm so glad to hear that (a) you are having a fabulous time in Paris, and (b) your medicines arrived! Post a Paris picture if you can!

@agold: Yay for amazing numbers! FX for a great scan tomorrow so you can start to feel comfortable about sharing the news! What an amazing gift you are giving everyone. Yes, by all means, stick around and give us updates. I think I speak for others when I say your energy would be so missed if you disappeared on us!
Like you, we're keeping our upcoming transfer just between us. The whole fam-damn down to third cousins (thanks, Mom!) knows we're doing IVF, but there's gotta be some mystery left to this process for the outsiders, right?
@AmeliaBedilia: Glad to hear all went well with your meds and that Paris is still so magical! Yes, post a photo! That's a great thought that Paris trips and such can give you motivation for moving through IF and power you to.get to the other side. Whatever positive juice you need to nourish your soul! I'm dreaming of a tropical trip... Hawaii, Cuba, Oaxaca... but hoping it will be a baby-moon even if that means no Mai Tais for me!

Oh @AmeliaBedilia I am so jealous! I wish we were in Paris right now. Have a wonderful trip. xx

@agold: Good luck today and thinking of you for a wonderful scan!
@AmeliaBedilia: I hope that you are having a wonderful time and can enjoy the city of lights. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during this time of year. A number of years ago, I visited my sister in England at the end of her semester abroad, and we, along with my mom, traveled through Germany and went to Paris right before Christmas. I remember it being so magical.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all of you on here! We will get through these next few days and get our wishes in 2016. I can feel it.

I think that I just finalized all of my meds and where I'm getting them from. The lady at Winfertility was super helpful and said that I'm definitely getting the best price for follistim and ganirelix with them, but the rest of the meds, it would be cheaper to get elsewhere (HCG, menopur, minivelle, endometrin). That made me feel better. I then called another pharmacy that is part of the Design Rx program and their quote for the same items as Winfertility was about $400 more, so I feel pretty good with where I'm buying my stuff. Feels good to have that arranged and now, I just need to make payment next week, if AF shows up.
kiwi / 613 posts
@NorthStar: Don't know if you've seen it online, but there was a coupon out there for $50 off a week's supply of endometrin and I think you could use it to get $100 off total per month (so stagger orders if possible.)

@agold: Hoping for a great scan for you today!! So incredibly exciting!!
@AmeliaBedilia: So glad you are enjoying your time in Paris and trying to keep the stress at bay! Great news that all your meds have arrived. My meds are in my vegetable drawer, too.
@NorthStar: Wonderful that you've finalized all your meds. It can be such a run around, but it feels good to have it all arranged and feel like you got a good price!
@Amorini: It is definitely a great support to have a group of us approaching upcoming transfers. I, too, have dreams of a babymoon in a warm place! Last time we went to the Keys on a secret trip since we chose not to go home for the holidays. It was wonderful and I hope we can all plan babymoons soon!
All of my meds have arrived as of yesterday. Two more days of BCPs. One week until my suppression scan and starting stims!

@momazon: Yes, I did! Freedom said that they applied that coupon, but I hate how I cannot see what they priced everything prior to purchase.
kiwi / 613 posts
@NorthStar: You should be able to see all of Freedom's prices online here: http://prices.freedomfertility.com/
Also, did you do an online quote on their website there? When I did one, it came attached with a high-value Freedom coupon, for use on your first order (I think it was like $100 or $200 off).
pear / 1881 posts
@momazon: No, I didn't do the online quote because my clinic had already sent my prescriptions over and they called me. Plus, this is my second order with them
kiwi / 613 posts
@NorthStar: Maybe they'd still let you use it if you didn't use one the first time! I'm all for saving money, and sounds like you're getting the best prices with all the calling around!! Good luck!!!!

nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: thanks! I'll confirm that the follistim and ganirelix are cheaper at win fertility than anywhere else I could find in the US.
@agold: hoping for good news!
Today we slept in, walked around the Louvre a ton, walked around the city, and ate very well. We get back Sunday and I'll post pictures then. I start estrace Tuesday for four days, the stims 1/2. I have next week off at home, then a busy work week the following week. I'm working five days (normally four) to make up for ER the following week, plus 4 monitoring appointments. Is there anything I can do next week to make it easier? I'm planning on organizing meds, maybe watching videos about how to inject them, getting circle and bloom on my phone, and trying to get on top of cleaning and laundry. Any other suggestions? Being organized and doing stuff ahead of time makes me feel less stressed about all this.
apricot / 365 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: i love paris so much! you may want to make ahead a couple meals. I also like being organized prior to a procedure and so i make sure to have some of my favourite food ready or planned, including snacks and tea for when i'm laying low
