@agold: Hello! We just had a nice weekend away catching up with some friends. Still totally confused about what to do for a next cycle right now, but that's ok. We're gonna go through with the ODWU, get the results, their opinion and 2 others, then decide from there.
It's been quiet on here... hope everyone had a good weekend!

Just trying to stay sane over here during this shortened 2WW. Not easy. Not easy at alllll. I'll probably be a bit quiet over the next few days as I try to distract myself and focus other things, but you're all in my thoughts!

@PurplePumps: Hope you get some clarity. Hugs!
@YogiRunner: sending prayers your way and hope it moves fast!
I had a good monitoring appointment. My AFC was 15-16 instead of ten last time. Yea! We're doing IUI #2 with femara/ovidrel and ovidrel booster to help progesterone production. His nurse said that most of their successful IUis are on the second or third so we will see. I expect that we will need IVF, but have been very concerned that an AMH of 0.27 means we won't get many eggs. the higher follicle count hopefully means a higher chance of success. I did acupuncture, and have started vitamin D, synthroid, DHEA, and melatonin- maybe they are making a difference.

@PurplePumps: I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Getting results is always a good plan. Keep in touch with your upcoming tests if you want.
@YogiRunner: Oh gosh! The TWW! Be quiet all you want. But please pop back in when you are ready. It really is quiet in here!
@AmeliaBedilia: Its awesome you are moving on to IUI#2 so quick! Stupid IUIs extended my cycles to like 60 days. Ugh. I really hope this #2 does the trick for you. Did your doctor tell you start the DHEA, or did you do it on your own? I've heard great things about it.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@agold: on my own with his permission. It Starts With the Egg had a lot of good stuff on it.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: I have a copy of the book for kindle I can lend you if you like. (If i can figure out how, I think you can do that on Amazon right?)
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@PurplePumps: Oh you are so very sweet, but don't worry about it. I'm not going to be reading up on anything any time soon. I'm really just placing all my trust in IVF and God. Aside from that, I'm just going to try to do frequent vegetable juice cleanses to reduce any inflammation in my body. And cut out wine. And general vitamins and nothing else. I sort of feel like any IF issue we have I have found a way to blame on a my husband anyways. (Is anyone else feeling that way?) Anyhow... that's all the energy I have to do for this. Although I am totally seconding guessing myself with girls on here doing 4+ IUIs and all sorts of testing. Ugh. Its just exhausting in general, right? I could cry if I think about it too hard.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@PurplePumps: Although, on second thought, I was just now thinking that maybe I'd like to look through that book. But I don't have a Kindle. Bummer. You are still the sweetest thing ever.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@PurplePumps: Good plan. That should hopefully give you some more options! x
@YogiRunner: Hope your TWW is as painless as possible!
@AmeliaBedilia: Good luck with #2! I know many folks who had success from back to back IUIs.
AFM, I am day 6 of jabs (day 19 of Lucrin, ouch) and just plugging away. Follicle tracking scan isn't until Friday, so I'm flying blind here!!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: How are you feeling from the jabs? Do you feel like you have a lot of follicles growing? I know the "flying blind" feeling. I'm still waiting for my doctor's office to call me with my IVF schedule and just popping birth control pills until then. I'm going to be in meetings all day tomorrow from noon on so I'm really bummed at the thought of missing the nurse's call. Ugh, work - always getting in the way.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: I don't either! If you have a android anything, they have a Kindle app, that's what I use. Not sure if apple has one too.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@jaguar: thanks! I'm hoping for a great response for you! You're in Australia, correct? So your Friday is our Thursday (US)?
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Yes! We're about a day ahead, or thereabouts. It's Tuesday morning here right now.
@agold: Feeling ok, but I've been on this dose before and used to it. By day 10-12 of stims I'm usually uncomfortable. Mostly I'm feeling nervous that my progesterone will spike too early again and get another cancellation, so I'm just willing my body to WORK this time.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@PurplePumps: I think it's a great plan to get the opinions and see what pans out. At that point, you will have a serious amount of info! No matter what, you know we are here! When's your first OWDU?
@YogiRunner: Thinking about you, too! Shamrocks all the way!
@AmeliaBedilia: Sounds like an all-around great appointment and it helped lift your spirits. So great that you are already heading into IUI #2! (Gosh, IUIs happen so fast!) May this one be it!
@agold: I'm here with you on poppin' BCPs. Well, I kinda' do think of infertility as because of DH (has severe MFI), but it's not like he can help it. But who knows, maybe even though I check out, there will be issues on my end at some point! That seems to be how things go in IF-land but I try not to dwell. I'm with you on being especially clean with my diet and also staying away from the mystery chemicals (DH, too!) in everyday household things. I haven't juice cleansed in awhile but you are inspiring me! Hope you get your schedule soon!
@jaguar: FX-ed for a great scan on Friday!!! I know I could google it, but is Lucrin a stim med? How often are you doing scans and bloodwork?
Loving that you are telling your bod to work with you on this. Hugs!
AFM, I can't understand why BCPs work for so many women. Like usual, they give me major and constant 2ww symptoms (without any of the fun anticipation...)! I'm on day 14 and my bbs have been sore and swollen for exactly 13.5 days! Plus I'm bloated, moody and just not myself. I seem sensitive to the littlest bit of added hormones and have always been like this, so I'm a bit worried what it will be like to shoot myself with 300 IUs of stims! Does anyone else know what I mean?
I've been ordering meds these last few days. As an OOP IVF-er, I received 4 quotes and WinFertility looks like the clear winner. I need four 900 IU stim pens, which is making it super spendy! I did qualify for 25% off two, income-based discount programs (they originally denied me but I made a case that our income is very different this year), but in the end, WinFertility is still cheaper. I still have to clarify a few things, but that's how it looks right now.
Other than that and getting an enormous check cut to the fertility center, it's a quiet week...
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Amorini: Scary putting all the big money down, hey? That feeling always makes me cringe... but I'm trying to remember it'll all be worth it. Just gotta hope this is the one!
Yeah, I have been let down by my hormones so many times before... it's gotta play nice this time!!
Lucrin is the same as Synarel (but an injection rather than a nasal spray) and is used to suppress the ovaries & get hormones baseline before you start adding in the stim drugs too.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: okay, so like Lupron (leuprolide acetate) then! That makes sense. I should've been able to guess by the name. I get my first baseline us next Fri (ages away!) and then I'll start Lupron.
Yes, the money part makes me cringe. We were pretty convinced that we'd go with the multiple cycle package offered to us and then I started to rethink it just as we were getting agreements signed and the check done. In the end, we did go for the package deal even though it's a lot of money up front. Good lordy, I hope between two fresh and two frozen cycles that we get our BFP!!!!
clementine / 849 posts
I know I said I'd stay away... but I'm 7dp5dt and my symptoms went away! Weird, right? A few days ago I had AF pains and some crazy sharp stabby pains (almost like bad gas pains). Hilarious that I thought I was out all weekend due to cramping, and now that the cramping is gone, I'm taking THAT as a bad sign. Geesh.
pear / 1881 posts
@YogiRunner: The cramping could be implantation? or maybe I don't understand the whole process enough.
I'm going to officially join this board since I've been a lurker for quite awhile. We have about a week left of waiting to see if this IUI worked and if not, it's onto IVF. I just made my IVF consult appointment on Sept 16th. This isn't something that I EVER thought that I would have to go through, but again, so very thankful that it's an option (albeit expensive)..
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@jaguar: Oh I really am hoping you don't get a cancelled cycle. I, too, will be willing your body to work!
@Amorini: Oh wow... avoiding mystery chemicals! Good one. I need to do that too! I'm sorry the birth control pills are making you feel wonky. I'm nervous too about shooting myself up with meds. As for paying out of pocket, I'm right there with you. I'm so glad you found a good deal with WinFertility for your meds. My RE financial person said she signed me up for a 50% off deal for my meds. Later she said its a rebate of some sort. Womp womp. I'd much rather prefer an immediate discount. My confidence waivers with time on those sorts of things. Putting out all the money definitely sucks. But like Jaguar said, keep in focus that this will all be worth it to get us the babies we want! And your package deal sounds great!
@YogiRunner: Don't symptom spot!! When do you go for a blood test?
@NorthStar: I hope your IUI works and you can cancel that IVF consult! At least you have a good attitude right now. I feel the same way about focusing on how thankful I am to be able to utilize IVF as an option.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@YogiRunner: Big hugs! I hope you can distract yourself.
@NorthStar: you're a step ahead of me. I hope this IUI works. I never thought I'd be here either.
.@jaguar: thinking of you.

Hey ladies. I had my scan and follow up beta today at 23 DPO- it was 1540 which is a doubling time of about 58 hours. The scan showed the sac but not much else (which according to the tech is all we should see, but I feel like Google says differently). My nurse does not seem worried, but I am freaking out. I am so worried that this is a blighted ovum again (which I had in January after my second FET). I am so so scared to go through this all again and the ambiguity (though I am grateful to have a chance) is killing me.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Amorini: popping in... Can you get anything smaller than 900 IU pens (Is it follistim?). I went with 300 IU Follistim cartridges because each cartridge has extra. I forget how much you can get extra out of it, I thibk 75 IU. So for 3 300 IU cartridges, you could get almost a free 250 IU out of it. Versus getting a 900 IU that only has 75 IU extra. You can google it and you'll see others doing the same thing to maximize how much medicine you get. So glad WinFertility worked for you. They were great when I was going through IVF.
pear / 1881 posts
@bluestriped bee: For this injectable IUI cycle, I did 2 300IU pens of Gonal-F and there was definitely extra in there. I got one, possibly two extra doses of 75IU in each pen. I've heard that Follistim is the same..@Amorini:
nectarine / 2192 posts
@bluestriped bee: if my IUIs don't work, I'm going to have you go through my IVF meds and tell me how to save money.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@bloved: I'm so sorry you are feeling nervous. I really wish you had seen enough to sooth your nerves. I'm not sure what is normal to see at that time, but I would just trust your doctor and try not to borrow trouble on this one. When do you go back?
@bluestriped bee: yes, follistim does give something like 75 iu extra. My RE's office told me about this.
Hey - regarding meds - has anyone used left over meds past the very very short expiration date? I have left over follistim from a March 2015 IUI. My RE nurse says its still good to use as long as its been in the fridge. What do you think?
AFM - My nurse called and gave me my schedule! Woo hoo! Meeting on the 27th. Birth control until about the 30th. Injections starting the 3rd. Egg retrieval the 15th, give or take a day. Then transfer 3-5 days thereafter! I'm so glad to be getting this show on the road.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@YogiRunner: oh! Oh! So hope something is happening down there, even if you can't feel it!
@bloved: So sorry to hear that you didn't get the definitive signs that all is tracking well. Is this more like the pattern you had in January or more like what it was like with LO #1? Not that things are exactly the same each time, but you know your body best! Please try to hang on to hope and maybe get your RE's input so you can relax a bit. I'll be thinking of you!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@bluestriped bee: thanks for yet another great tip! All of your WinFertility info really helped me and I almost bumped those threads to say thanks, but it seemed so random.
So I had read that the 300 IU pens were overfilled, but figured the 900 IU pens would also be overfilled. Does anyone know if it works like that? I guess the overfill of 300s adds up while overfilled 900s, less so unless they are overfilled more than 75 IU.
So if 300 IU pens reliably have 75 IU extra, I would need ...10 instead of 12! That should bring the price down even more!
I will ask. I guess I just order more if I need it.
Oh and my nurse said she didn't have good experiences with Win, but didn't say why.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@Amorini: Winfertility is annoying but they do have good prices. You have to get two different meds. Ovidrel is cheaper but femara is expensive, so I originally had aspirin in my bundle. Then they told me that wasn't allowed and I needed something different. Then they sent my doc a form with options and aspirin was on it. Same thing happened his month except I got Zithromax instead and they messed up the amount. Not a huge deal in this situation, but annoying.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Carobee: How are you doing?
@Amorini: My 300 iu follistim actually comes with 425 iu. Does that seem right? That is what is handwritten on my box. My nurse didn't even know what WinFertility was when I asked her this afternoon.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@agold: yay for getting your schedule. Congrats! I start injections around the same time as you, but I start with Lupron for two weeks. So you'll be in ET mode and I'll just be starting to stim! Doesn't it feel like the days are dragging? By the time injections start, I'm going to be so strangely excited for something different!
I think it's funny now all the talk about The 2ww. So much of my life feels like waiting....there the 4ww (BCPs), then the 2ww with Lupron, then the 10-12 day wait prior to ET... I know you all get what I mean!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: okay, good to know. Now that I think of it, my nurse made her comment just after they did a little paperwork bungle (but it was no biggie in light of saving nearly
$1000).
@agold: woah, that's 125 IU more. I'd only need 9! I'm seeing dollar signs. I'll ask my nurse since she should know about this overfill business. Thanks!!!
pear / 1881 posts
@Amorini: yeah, the box says 425 I think. If you have to get out an air bubble, you might lose some. But, it's worth trying for how much you can save
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Amorini: the only downside that I can think of is that they aren't a regular fertility pharmacy, they are more of a fertility med discounter. They tell Walgreens what to send you. So the only minor inconvenience is that if you have refills for your prescription, you have to get your RE or nurse to write you a new prescription. I thought I was bothering my RE but they seemed fine doing it. Oh, having to get at least two meds to get the bundle price can be annoying but I always got extra estrace pills. Like you I saved over $1000, so it wasn't that bad.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Amorini: this thread said the 300 IUs have about 80 IU overfill and the 900 IUs have 125-150. http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f74-trying-to-conceive-medical-assistance/2044476-overfill-injectable-pens-how-much.html
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Hehe. I'll try my best to save you money.
persimmon / 1114 posts
@agold: thanks for the encouragement! How exciting to have your schedule! You are almost there!!
@Amorini: thanks for the encouragement. It is actually not like my son or my blighted ovum (of course). I also think I have no gut instincts- only blind panic!
I am feeling slightly better today. I think I am just gunshy after my two losses this year - and also because this is such uncharted territory...before my son I could not get pregnant...now my problem is keeping them. But I know I should not go chasing worry, so I am going to try and be zen until next Tuesday.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: Thanks! I'm excited! Why do you think our schedules are a few weeks off? I feel like you started birth control before I did. What does the Lupron do? And yes.. I hate counting my life by weeks. When I was trying to get pregnant on my own, I was very much into counting the days/weeks. It was horrible! It did make time fly by fast, in a way, though.
@bloved: Thanks lady! I'm so glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today. All of this IF stuff is such a mindf*ck. I hope your son can keep you distracted! How old is he?
