Ugh I'm so f-ing pissed off at my husband right now. I dont dunno if the think's he's actually being fking cute and helpful or what. So I'm walking back from the bathroom and cramp hits me so I let out a light moan. He does the same thing and I'm like just shut up. He actually has the balls to say to me "it can't hurt that bad, just stop". OMFG, YES IT DOES, what the hell do you know is pretty much my response to him, and he tell me to "be nice". BE nice?!?! I'm just minding my own trying to make due, I WAS nice until you started being an asshole. And then he keeps coming up to hold me, and try to pull me up right saying this position is bad for my back. NO SHIT. Think I like being hunched over all day?!? The alternative is worse. "And hes like, maybe standing up straight will be better" Really?!? Cause my body gravitate to this position for the past week just so I could hurt more?? How is ANY of this useful except to now make me sit in here my own comfortable position pisssssedd off.
Meanwhile when he has a tiny little stomach ache from food or whatever Tuesday night, he's curled over on the couch and wont move. And I'm like MAN UP. We were going to watch some TV together but the remote control had run out of battery and he woudln't even get up go to get new batteries. WTFFFFF!

@PurplePumps: you have got to be kidding me! I don't blame you one bit and would be so pissed! does he not understand how much pain you are in and that this whole process isn't easy. I really don't understand why some guys just can't be compassionate and there for their women. I'm so sorry, hun Since you didn't have your FET today, can you get some wine, kick him to the couch and lay in bed and watch some movies? I would totally do that. He doesn't deserve to sleep in your bed tonight!

@PurplePumps: Men are idiots... I continue to realize that more and more everyday . I'm sorry yours isn't acting his best right now. You definitely deserve to feel, say, and do whatever you need to feel better .

@PurplePumps: Congratulations on TWO blasties. That is incredible! Hubby needs a swift punch to the man parts.

@PurplePumps: OMG! I can sympathize! DH and I had a a couple episodes like that after retrieval when I felt like crud for weeks and he didn't get it. I flipped out on him worse than you, I betcha. What finally shut him up was I had horrible exploding ovarian cysts and ovaries threatening to twist and eventually he caught on! Oh, and then a huge breast cyst scare. Yeah, at that point, he let me moan without an unsupportive word... I'm only exaggerating a little here because it was so ridiculous, the whole thing and the fighting about it, too. I guess in their simple brains, the meds and retrieval are over so we just snap back to normal like it never happened! Gawd!!!!
ETA: fixed typo. Also to clarify, my DH isn't a monster. Just clueless sometimes...

@NorthStar: @GreenThumb: Men are idiots. Yes. I really don't think he understands. Honestly, I guess no one really does unless they experience it, but I'd at least have more compassion! He's like why does it hurt? Is it just cause it's full? umm yeah, that's probably a pretty big part of it, thank you captain obvious.
@jaguar: Thanks!
@Amorini: Yea, I know they aren't *really* monster like assholes, they just lack empathy sometimes. He tells me "when you express pain, I want feel the need to fix it. When i cant fix it, I just don't know what I'm supposed to do". Obviously. But telling me it doens't exist or to just stop it... doesn't help.

@PurplePumps: I'm so sorry he is such a dork. How are you feeling today and are you getting any relief? Have you been eating salty foods and Gatorade type drinks? Hang in there..
I have my baseline ultrasound tomorrow and start meds on Monday morning. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in over a month, but do you think that it is ok to have a glass of wine tonight? I'm heading to a girlfriends to stay the night (since we are supposed to get freezing rain tonight and I don't want to drive 2+ hours in it in the morning). I would LOVE to have a glass of red wine to celebrate kicking this process off.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@NorthStar: I'm less exhausted today, but still a physical wreck. I think I'm going to take Monday off and request to work from home for the rest of the week. I had a few sips of wine during stims, not even a quarter of a glass cause we were having dinner at my parents for CNY. Even though they know about us doing IVF, for some reason, I just didn't want them to know when it was actually happening. I don't think a glass before stims is harmful.

@PurplePumps: so glad you have 2, I was so happy to hear about this update!
I hope you feel better soon!

@winter_wonder: thank you!
My RE just emailed me and told me one more made it to an expanded blast this morning so now we have 3 frozen!

@PurplePumps: OMG- that's AWESOME! Sorry DH is being difficult and that you still feel crappy, but yay for 3 blasts! You're giving me hope for my cycle with HGH.
Day 2 of stims. Even though I know what I'm doing, it still took 20 minutes to draw up, give shots and clean up, and that's with DH's help. I hate drawing up the shots, so I asked DH to draw up the menopur, while I did the HGH and follistim.
Our plan was to do a lot of packing at the old house. While we have enough to function at the new place, we still have a lot of packing to do and we want to get the old house ready to be on the market. DH has the man flu (in women, a cold), so he's finishing taxes, and I've gotten a little bit done. I'm feeling really tired, and contemplating a nap.

@NorthStar: I think a glass of wine at this point would be fine. Enjoy your last weekend before stims!

@NorthStar: Yes to the wiiiiiiiiiine!
@PurplePumps: Whoa mama, congratulations! 3 blasties! xx
@AmeliaBedilia: Rest up if you can. xx

@PurplePumps: That's SO miraculous! So happy you have three snowbabies!
@AmeliaBedilia: "Man flu" -- love it! That's cool that you and your DH do the meds together. Mine is scared of needles so I always did it in private. Keeping my fingers crossed so tight for you!
@GreenThumb: I'm glad your mom is going to help you with your IM shots. Honestly, I could've never predicted it, but my mom who is kinda nervous and antsy (and has no medical background) was totally awesome at administering my HCG shot.

@PurplePumps: What fantastic news! Congratulations on 3 little frosties! Hope you are feeling better and having a relaxing weekend!!
@AmeliaBedilia: Hope all is going well with your stims. When is your first monitoring appointment? Tomorrow? FX for good news!
@NorthStar: How did your baseline go? Hope all is well and you were about to enjoy some wine before kicking off this cycle!!

@PurplePumps: Congratulations on three frozen blastocysts! Wow, that's such a difference from the last cycles- you must be so thrilled with the results!! I'm sorry about all the pain you're going through, but sending you good wishes for your future transfer!

@PurplePumps: yes!!!! I have a friend who got preggo off of a day 6 expanded blast! They say if they make it that far, then they are strong!!
@AmeliaBedilia: I hope the meds continue to be ok and that your husband gets over his manflu! Loved that lol. When is your next appointment?
Baseline went well. 12 follicles that they saw, which seems about double than this point last cycle. Start stims in the morning and yes, definitely had a glass of wine! Much needed!

@NorthStar: Good girl! Vino is gooooood. A great start, fingers crossed for only good things from now on. xx
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: yea for 12! Let's do this!
@GreenThumb: I have an estrogen level tomorrow. First ultrasound is Wednesday. The scans Friday, Saturday, Monday and possibly Tuesday.
My doc said the growth hormone is often an all or nothing response. My leg hair is growing much faster and longer than normal (yea for pants) which has to be the growth hormone. Hopefully that means it's working in other ways too!

Argh... I kinda wish I could hid the Oct 2016 Due Date board (no offense to all the wonderful IVF ladies on there, of course). There are only a million HBers on there and I'm having a hard time accepting I'm not one of them . And now I just saw that the Nov 2016 list has started. If all goes well in the next 6-8 weeks, I guess I'll be on the December list (FX), so I'm trying to remind myself that that is not too far away. I may have to take an HB break for awhile...
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: HAHA! I did not notice that side effect... though I must admit I am super lazy and don't shave in the winter.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@GreenThumb: I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I joined but am constantly terrified we'll lose this baby too and then I'll have to leave ANOTHER due date board.

@jaguar: Oh, no, this is your rainbow baby for sure! Please know that I am always so excited for anyone who graduates!! Just feeling sorry for myself in this lull. Ready for AF to start so I can get into the FET.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@jaguar: hugs! I believe this is a sticky baby for you!
@GreenThumb: while I didn't get on the October board, I have similar feelings. It's so hard to see people get pregnant while you're trying, then turn one or other milestones. I feel like we are Falling further behind.
Day 4 of stims/3 doses in. I had my first estrogen level drawn this morning. Last time it went up slowly and was 1010 on trigger day. I'm a little nervous about it. For my fellow growth hormone users, did you see a difference in the scans, estrogen, or just the quality after retrieval?
pear / 1881 posts
@GreenThumb: oh no, I'm so sorry that you are feeling down. Take whatever time you need and if you need a break, you do that. We will be here whenever you are ready to come back.
@AmeliaBedilia: YAY! Glad you have a few days down already and are getting that much closer! Any idea when they will call with your blood results today?
My morning dosage of menopur is done and onto follistim tonight. @AmeliaBedilia: we are doing the same dosages, right? 150 of menopur and 300 follistim? I know that you have other stuff in there too..
nectarine / 2192 posts
@NorthStar: I should hear this afternoon. We are on the same doses- Menopur 150, follistim 300, plus I'm on growth hormone 2.9mg. Lat time I was on Menopur 75 and follistim 375. He didn't change my doses the whole time, just added the antagonist (I think on day 7).
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I didn't notice any different in e2 levels. The were pretty much comparable to my first 3 cycles without the HGH. I thought on my first 2 scans though that the follicle sizes seemed to be closer together though.
I'm finally over the hump. I woke up yesterday like a new person. I could finally walk just about upright, at a normal pace, and without excruciating pain. As of this morning I'm down 2 inches and 3.5 lbs from my peak. Another 3-4lbs and 4 inches to go. I'm hoping I can stuff myself back in my jeans tomorrow though cause I don't have much else to wear to work!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@PurplePumps: glad you're feeling better! I'm just wondering about my risk for OHSS since the two ladies who used it both got it (small sample size though). My estrogen level was only 1010 at trigger and I'm on Cabergoline for elevated prolactin, so without HGH, my risk is low, but wondering if the HGH increases the risk and if so, how much?
apricot / 344 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: yes, I was a HGH user and definitely saw a difference, however I can't completely attribute it to the HGH since other med doses were changed. My peak E2 with my first cycle was 1800. My peak E2 for my second cycle was somewhere around 4000. As for quality of embryos...night and day difference. Again though, can't say it was just one thing. hubby and I had been on lots of vitamins for months before, we changed med doses and were monitored more closely. We saw a difference in the scan in my follicles were all more relative in size when on HGH. Though quantity wasn't much different, and on day 5 we actually had 1 fewer embryo and still none to freeze (transferred 2). Also, I was on a MUCH smaller dose of HGH than you are, so no clue if there's any way to predict how things will go for you.
As far as attributing that to OHSS; I can't say that mine was from the HGH, however it's exacerbated by HCG and higher E2 and progesterone levels. All of my numbers were thru the roof! (about 4,000 for E2, Very high HCG for the time it was taken and progesterone was over 500...not 50, 500! and that was with NO added estrace or pio/crinone after transfer). Come to find out that we are expecting twins, so that would explain some of the higher numbers which would have made OHSS an issue.
All I can say is best of luck and thinking of you!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I don't think the hgh had anything to do with my ohss. I think I'm high risk to start with with a mild pcos. And my old RE always stepped down my FSH dosage twice throughout my cycle all 3 times, which greatly reduces the risk. My new RE held it steady AND had me do one full dosage the morning of the trigger. I feel like those two thing had more to do with it than the hgh. Well who knows though, maybe the hgh played a part too.

My estrogen is only 47 after 3 days of stims. he wants me to increase the follistim to 375 in addition to the menopur 150. Last time he said over 450 usually doesn't do much. This was the level I was at after two days last time. Very worried.
pear / 1881 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: oh no - try to think positively and I hope this works for you. i know how stressful this whole process is.
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Let's hope that you are just off to a little bit of a slow start. I bet things will pick up with the increased meds. FX hard that you have a good number on Wednesday and your U/S looks great!
@NorthStar: @AmeliaBedilia: Thanks for understanding! I'm feeling better today. So excited that you ladies are getting started. I'll be cheering you on!!
AFM: I got the go ahead to pay for the FET today and cramps and generally moodiness would indicate AF will show tomorrow, so hopefully I can get my protocol and schedule soon!! I started seeing a new acupuncturist a few weeks ago and I really like her. That is a great way to start the week every Monday morning!
pear / 1881 posts
@GreenThumb: oh good that you can get started prepping for your FET and get a timeline in place. Did you decide when you will do the FET, considering your husband's schedule?
AFM: ugh - the headaches have begun. That and I'm SO tired. Not sure if it is general case of the Monday's or the meds doing their thing. It's only temporary, right?!
nectarine / 2192 posts
I looked again at my med list and it said after follistim: *He has you starting at 300iu daily but that dose could potentially go up to 450iu's.
So...that would be between 3000iu's and 4500iu's, total.
I got off to a slow start last time (47 day 3, 90 day 5) and did pick up. He never raised the dose. I had raised the concern of being over suppressed last time, and his response was that we had to do the estrace to prevent a dominant follicle. I'm freaking out that I wont respond and will get cancelled. On the other hand, it sounds like he planned on this increase and this is his way to counter the oversuppression. Please talk me off the ledge.
pear / 1986 posts
@NorthStar: Since we don't know when his trip will be scheduled (could even be pushed to May), we decided to just go ahead and make the plans for the FET and hope for the best. My mom and dad are relatively free in mid-April, so they can fill in if needed. I just don't want to put it on hold at all.
I'm sorry your are experiencing bad symptoms from the meds. Yes, it is only temporary! Not long now!! When is your first monitoring appointment?
pear / 1986 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Right! I think it is good that there is room to change the dosage depending on how you respond.
pear / 1881 posts
@GreenThumb: oh good! Yes, when things are in the air, you might as well keep on and get it scheduled! It will give you something to look forward to in the coming weeks.
First ultrasound after starting meds is on Friday. AF just showed (finally), so my body is finally getting things going.
