@yellowbeach: Yay good news! Your update answered my questions. 😊 Yes, we are only transferring one again.

Curious what instructions your clinic gives you for after transfer? Bed rest? Couch potato? Normal activity?

@Mrs Lavender: No bed rest, but nothing in the vagina.

    @yellowbeach: Good news!!

@Mrs Lavender: Same for me after transfer. I think I also went easy on working out for a couple days? I ended up having to go back to work right after, and I remember thinking I should walk around slowly so I didn't jostle it around.

@yellowbeach: great news on your transfer and 3 biopsied embryos!! I'm so sorry dh pulled that bullshit with you on transfer day. So not cool. It's amazing what we go through mentally, physically, and emotionally, and it's always the husbands "having a hard time". So many eyerolls and zero sympathy. You're amazing mama. Hlw are you surviving the 2ww?

Ugh negative tests still at 6dp5dt. Should get PGS results by the end of the week. Hoping for 2 normals, expecting 1 or god forbid, none. RGI received them Saturday and invoiced me today, so that means they've started the testing.

My RE has kindly offered to let me get my beta on Wed instead of Thursday. Honestly, one less day in limbo and taking meds when it feels futile is good.

Here's hoping our next round yields better results.

On a side note, I'm really sad that out of this whole batch of embryos that seemed to have so much promise (months ago we were talking about donating the leftovers) is now all gone. I never had any failed transfers before we had DD bc she was out first fresh transfer, but I look at them now, and look at her as an embryo, and it feels much more like a loss to me. IDK. Is that crazy? I guess when you see the potential of one embryo right in front of you on a daily basis...

We'll see how these PGS results come back this week, but I'm seriously considering changing REs and/or meeting with a Reproductive Immunologist. I just don't want to churn through any good embryos we get out of this second batch.

@yellowbeach: I'm so sorry. What a long, difficult road to get to this point. I can relate to these emotions a little. While I don't have an example of one of my embryos living and breathing around me, DH and I have both talked about how we feel like every one of the embryos that stopped growing during our 5 days before transfer was a possibility lost. We've been grieving them. I don't think that feeling is crazy at all. I think it's totally normal and totally human, and I'm right there with you.

    Beta is negative (<5).

Should get PGS results any day now. 🤞🤞🤞

I’m just up in the air with everything right now. Was planning initially to do retrieval next month, but we really can’t afford to right now (all costs paid upfront). I’m thinking maybe June now? Dh and I got in a fight about it and now I’ve avoided bringing it up again.
The great news is I have a few friends with some leftover meds I can use! One friend just got all of her meds in but then had a bunch of heart issues, so they decided they won’t be trying again. I was talking to her today and she said she’d give me a list of what she had to see if I can use it. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

@LAZB: I might have some too...I will check tonight and let you know. Really need to get rid of all that stuff!

@yellowbeach: so sorry to hear this news. praying for good PGS results for you. In the meantime, enjoy some cocktails and sushi and all that fun stuff! Hugs to you!

@LAZB: sorry I checked and I only have a half vial each of estradiol and progesterone....and one bazillion syringes and stuff. Boo, not the good stuff. Sorry!
@yellowbeach: any idea how I can donate/reuse the supplies? Everything is still in the package and I feel terrible throwing it all away or to the sharps

  17. foodiebee

    kiwi / 662 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: I donated my leftover supplies to my RE office for use by mamas in need at the clinic. Maybe you could do that?

@LAZB: We had to pay 100% out of pocket too, so I can relate. Ours was due in stages, which made it easier, though our upfront cost was a lot bigger (like, by thousands) than the other payments. I hope your friend's meds come through! That would be a huge help. Our meds were $4k or something.

  19. Mrs Lavender

    apricot / 302 posts

@yellowbeach: Not good, which is why I have not been posting much. I tested 6dp and 8dp5dt, both tests were stark white. I'm pretty sure I'm out, again. I'm going to see if I can get my beta moved up to Monday and I'll be scheduling a sit down appt with my RE asap. We won't be doing another transfer without additional testing.

I'm sorry that your transfer didn't work either. This just sucks. I'm crossing all fingers and toes that you have a good outcome with your pgs testing.

We just gotta keep moving forward and it will happen for us.

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@Mrs Lavender: ugh I’m so sorry to read that. I vote in favor of moving the beta up if you can for sure. One less day trappped in a failed cycle and one day closer to a new cycle with a new chance. I’m with you about more testing. I’m seriously going to push for my RE to consider steroids, aspirin and other immune medications.

  21. Mrs Lavender

    apricot / 302 posts

@yellowbeach: Thanks. Beta is moved to Monday. I also have a sit down meeting with my RE on 4/2.

Do you think you'll want to do the testing for those medications first? Is your RE open to them? My RE mentioned to me she would want me on aspirin, lovenox, and prednisone if anything came back as abnormal. I'm also going to ask about inter-lipids - I've seen this mentioned on the IVF board a few times.

  22. LAZB

    pomegranate / 3904 posts

    @Mrs Lavender: ugh, I'm sorry

  23. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@Mrs Lavender: I think what I'm going to do is ask my RE if he'd be willing to work with a RI as a consultant, providing recommendations on autoimmune issues. The doctor in me isn't a fan of taking meds for no reasons (steroids and ASA maybe, but lovenox, hell no). But I really believe my immune system is playing a role here based on how my two diseases have flared and receded during pregnancy and shortly after delivery.

We get our PGS results on Monday and even with amazing news, don't have a lot of embryos to work with. If my RE's theory that this last batch got weakened is wrong, and it's actually an issue with me, then we run the risk of running through all these embryos as failures as well.I'm not opposed to a 3rd retrieval, but I want to know we are optimized for success.

  24. Mrs Lavender

    apricot / 302 posts

@yellowbeach: I did not know you had two diseases. I hear you on the Lovenox, I feel the same way. I have sub clinical hypothyroidism (managed with meds) and mild Raynauds disease. I have no idea if this is effecting my infertility and will look into this more. I hope you get the support you need from your RE and get the answers you are looking for.

@yellowbeach: Your plan to consult with an RI sounds super solid. If you have other issues going on, it may be in play--so glad you are sticking with your professional instinct! I'm crossing everything you get good results from the lab today.

@Mrs Lavender: sorry you are feeling down about this cycle. will be thinking of you as you get the beta today. I've so been there. Hugs mama!

Bad news on embryos. Two abnormal and one mosaic with 40% abnormal cells. He said he'd transfer that but would have to discuss risks first. I inquired about a third retrieval. 😔

@yellowbeach: NOOOOOOO well [insert all the things I should probably not publish on the internet]. Seems like time for a serious shift in the plan, like you mentioned in a previous post (consulting with another doc to consider your other health issues). And thank god for PGS so you have a much lower chance of another TFMR or wasted transfers/waiting/stress..... I'm so so sorry lady. Please plan some serious self care tonight and something each day for the next week. Wishing I could give/send you more than just a virtual hug and some serious commiseration.

So, in an interesting turn of events, looks like we have a new plan from our RE.

Regarding our PGS testing, here's the detail on our results for those that are interested:
    Embryo 1: 46XX , -21, +22
    Embryo 5: 45 XX , -19
    Embryo 7: Mosaic 45XY, -2/ 46XY

So we have the one mosaic which my RE says he's 99% sure would not end up in a live birth of monosomy 2. If it is truly a monosomy 2 embryo, the pregnancy likely just won't take. But they are learning every day that mosaic embryos can be totally normal, because they biopsy what becomes the placenta, not the actual fetus. So, he's checking with his partner to make sure she agrees there is low risk of a Monosomy2 birth, and we'll likely transfer him this cycle.

Which brings me to my next update, Retrieval #3. Fortunately my ovaries had returned to normal from last retrieval, so we can move forward with another retrieval. He's starting me on Follistim (FSH) 225u BID and adding Menopur this time. He also plans to trigger me with 2 doses of ovidrel instead of just one. I'll start tonight and have a lining check Sat morning. This is probably our last hurrah, so send all your positive energy this way!

  32. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@yellowbeach: I've read of mosaics and even abnormals resulting in a healthy live birth. I would definitely use the mosaic at least too. Can I ask why they have you triggering with ovidrel instead of hcg (novarel or pregnyl)? Ovidrel is only 250mcg of hcg and novarel/pregnyl is up to 10000 mcg (sometimes given as 5000 too) so even 2 does is not even close to as much hcg, which is what is needed for the final maturation of the eggs. Are you high risk for ohss? Are you doing antagonist protocol with ganerelix? You can also do a lupron double trigger with hcg too if so.

  33. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@PurplePumps: I'm not sure why my RE uses Ovidrel specifically instead of one of the other trigger options, but they said 1 dose of Ovidrel is 10,000iU hcg (~6500iU bioavailability). I asked when I was testing out my trigger in the past. So maybe it's equivalent? I will also be taking ganirelix and doxycycline post retrieval. As far as I know, not at risk for OHSS (haven't had it with either of two prior retrievals).

  34. Mrs. Pajamas

    kiwi / 702 posts

@yellowbeach: interesting and exciting news! I'm not familiar with mosaics....just looked back at our results and it clearly says in the fine print that our test did not identify mosaics. That seems crazy even though it didn't matter for us (our embryos were all normal). FETs are definitely less traumatic physically/emotionally/financially than a retrieval so I get it for sure.

@PurplePumps: I'm pretty sure I only ever triggered with ovidrel...didn't even know about other options!

  35. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@yellowbeach: oh wow, i didn't know that about ovidrel. Still learning something new all the time even 8 cycles later lol.

@Mrs. Pajamas: I'd only used ovidrel for iui and novarel or pregnyl for ivf cycles, so i always thought ovidrel was weaker esp since it said 250mcg... i didn't know anything about bio a availability of the hcg in them.

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@PurplePumps: Me too! The menopur is new for me. I felt like a mad scientist mixing it for the first time last night. And man the nurse warned me - but that sucker sure does sting!

  37. foodiebee

    kiwi / 662 posts

@yellowbeach: I remember the Menopur sting! Hated that part. I used to scrunch up my face and grit my teeth through it. But then I'd have a random night when it wouldn't sting as badly for some reason. Those were always very welcome.

I also took Pregnyl fwiw but you lovely ladies are blowing me away with all your knowledge here. I seem to have wiped most memories of my shots. Apparently I was sooo happy during this time period.

Went for an ultrasound this morning. 9.6mm lining and about 14 follicles between both sides, similar sizes, the largest of which is 11mm. No lead follicle this time, so that's good. Eyeing up Friday for a tentative retrieval. Still awaiting my estrogen level.

ETA: estradiol is 414 after 5 days of stims.

  39. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

Ultrasound today showed about 16 follicles between 11-14mm. Starting Ganirelix tonight, another US on Wed with likely retrieval on Saturday, when of course I'm supposed to work. Couldn't be Friday when I have the day off... hoping a colleague comes through and swaps a shift with me.
