@yellowbeach: wow that playroom is LEGIT! Don't show my kids that photo, they'll be like "WTF where's our awesome playroom mom?" I'm so impressed!

Tested this morning and BFN .

I sent my RE a message through the portal essentially saying I wanted to bring a Reproductive Immunologist on board in a consultant capacity, or at least just try empiric prednisone and maybe a daily baby aspirin.

We don't have our PGS results yet on our 4 embryos, but we'll be lucky to have even 1 normal at this point. I'm undecided about a 4th retrieval. Waiting to get these results. If we have all abnormals and mosaics again, that would make me less likely to pursue a 4th ER. If we have a few normals, I might consider another ER if it looks like I can still produce normals. Not sure if that makes any sense. Financially, we can handle another ER, but if we are nearing our last shot on FETs, I want to make sure we are maximizing our chances. After 6 failed FETs, clearly there's a variable/factor behind the curtain that we just can't see or understand. We left the realm of evidenced-based medicine long ago. Now it's time to try some "out there" stuff.

@yellowbeach: I wish I had some advice to offer. I'm in awe of your perseverance and dedication, and I have my fingers crossed that your PGS results will be positive. I agree, at this point it sounds like there's something going on behind the scenes that is impacting things.

@foodiebee: I sent my RE a message about bringing in an RI and the good news is he said he'd support that. The bad news is when I completed the request online for Dr. Braverman's consultation, the appointment date I was given is Mar 17, 2020! I'm already 40.5 and they want me to wait a whole year to see them??? C'mon get serious.

@yellowbeach: Took this off of a group I belong too. Maybe look into these auto immune doctors she mentioned? “Im going to argue against Braverman. I think he’s extremely rude, condescending and his science is mediocre at best. I would suggest if youre going to travel to NYC to consider Alexander Kofinas, Zev williams at columbia or Norman Gleicher at CHR.”

I know nothing about Braverman. I’m guessing she had a bad experience.

Sorry about your bfn. ugh. 🙁

@yellowbeach: Hi lovely! I've been reading back through this thread and you have been through the ringer. Brings back so many memories - this part is brutal. Claire was FET #8 and it takes it out of you. I really hope you get some good PGD results soon.

Had a transfer this morning. We can't afford any more full stim cycles at the moment, so if these frosties don't work, that's it for us. We had 6 frozen at day 4 (the plan is to thaw and grow them out to day 5's before transfer, all going well).

This was today's embie. I wish I'd grabbed the grading off her, but I was too nervous/distracted.

@jaguar: She looks great! That gives me a little hope to know your last was FET#8. I’m afraid for our PGS results Tuesday because if we come up empty, that might be it for us. I don’t think we are interested in embryo adoption.

    ✅ ER#1, Fresh #1 -July 2016: Successful 👧🎀
👼 March 2018: Natural pregnancy, ended in TFMR

    ❌ FET #1 - Aug 2018: Unmedicated, 1 PGS-nl, Failed

    ❌ FET #2 - Sep 2018: Unmedicated, 1 PGS-nl, Failed

    ❌ FET #3 - Nov 2018: Medicated, 1 PGS-nl, Failed

    ❌ FET #4 - Dec 2018: Medicated, 1 PGS-nl, Failed
    ❌ ER#2, FET #5 - Feb 2019: Transferred 2 PGS-nl, Failed

    ❌ ER#3, FET #6 - Mar 2019: Transferred 1 mosaic, Failed

When you list it all out like that, I'm starting to understand why I feel so beat down. I'm so afraid that Tuesday will bring news of no PGS normal embryos, and that our journey to grow our family will officially close.

I'm torn with the idea of ER#4.

    PROS :
    - Will only cost ~$750 to do the entire retrieval
    - I responded well to protocol adjustment last ER, so maybe this will give my RE another chance to do more
    - Even if the whole cycle is a bust again, I won't have to spend the rest of my life wondering

    CONS :
    - If 2 recent ERs yielded essentially no normal embryos, seems my big issue is egg quality, which will only get worse.
    - Mentally taxing and injections are annoying
    - DH was near/at the end of his rope after ER#2.

On the bright side my RE is ok with empiric prednisone and baby aspirin if we do get anything back to transfer next cycle. This is going to be a long 24 hrs to wait.

@yellowbeach: ugh this is so hard girl! FWIW I would highly recommend acupuncture. It was like therapy for me as I saw a woman that specialized in reproductive issues. But regardless just wanted to send lots of hugs and love as you navigate your next steps. will be crossing all my appendages for good PGS results!

I went for my hysteroscopy today, my uterus looks “textbook perfect” according to my RE. I do have a 6 cm cyst that is always there, but has grown (I can’t remember how big it was before). She said she can drain it during my retrieval.
I also got a crap ton of blood work done, 12 vials to be exact. Now my nurse can order my meds and hopefully we will do the retrieval next cycle! I’m so ready to start, hopefully we will be successful!

@jaguar: Sending lots of luck to you! I was not on the IVF boards when you were going through IVF previously. Do you mind sharing what you think made transfer #8 stick? Did you do anything differently or do you think it was just luck? Curious about your journey!

  21. LAZB

    pomegranate / 3904 posts

Oh, also, she saw six or seven follicles, so she thinks a reasonable guess would be that we would end up with 1-2, maybe 3 healthy embryos

  22. Mrs Lavender

@jaguar: I actually just came across your blog! How did you know when it was time to change clinics?

  23. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Mrs Lavender: They wouldn't listen to me, that was the biggest reason I changed. I KNEW something was wrong, the specialist we kept seeing kept blaming other things (weight, etc) and they kept doing freeze all cycles with day 1 embryos, which is a really outdated procedure. When we changed clinics the first time, the new clinic couldn't believe they had wasted our time doing them that way. We did ultimately end up having to have a freeze all there too, but they at least grew our embryos out for us.

  24. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@LAZB: Hey hun! That sounds super promising. I just had a hysteroscopy and biopsy/endo scratch a few weeks ago too, they say it's good for the system to have a 'clean out' before treatment too, so win win?

@yellowbeach: I know, seeing everything written down makes the journey that much more real. It is not something I'd wish on my worst enemy. We have never been able to afford PGD/PGS on our cycles, so we go in blind each time - just one of those things - but the stress of having nothing to transfer must be absolutely excruciating. Let me find my old history for you.

@jaguar: Do you want to go with a cold theme? Or a Disney sidekick theme? For a Disney sidekick you could go with Simon or pumba, Sebastian, thumper, hey hey, etc.
I’m not so sure about cold names though.

    Catching up on the board...

@jaguar: Welcome back and ! Jack Frost cracked me up, so I vote for that. We chose not to do PGS because we only had one embryo make it to day 5 and we couldn't justify the cost of it ($8k!!) for only one, but I will admit that I have fleeting moments when I get nervous about skipping it, but I don't think I'd do anything differently if I could go back in time. We paid out of pocket, so...

@LAZB: I had a hysteroscopy before my IVF too, so another vote for that. I was pretty devastated by our low follicle/egg count, but if there's one thing I can do, I hope it's to be here to help give you an example that there's light at the end of that particular tunnel.

@yellowbeach: Sending you positive thoughts today.

We received the results from RGI. One embryo is chromosomally normal.

The other three abnormal embryos include the following:
    1. 44XX, -15, -19, deletion (7)(q35;q36.3)
    2. Complex chromosomal abnormalities (3 or more chromosomes)
    3. 46XX, -10, +15

So... I guess my egg(s) are literally going to all be in one basket this cycle. I plan to ask my RE Friday when I see him if there's any utility in another ER, but I expect he'll say no.

Also in the back of my mind, I keep toying with the ideal of DH and I trying naturally for a while and rolling the dice genetically. We lost that game once, and I certainly don't want to go through it again, but I also know many women who have transferred abnormal embryos that produced healthy babies. I'm starting to question PGS testing and its utility when you have so few embryos. I'm afraid it's knocking out our last chances. IDK...

@jaguar: Did you test again this morning??? Been thinking about you today.

AFM, I went to the RE this morning. We are targeting May 13 for transfer day. Our embryo is a PGS-normal 4BB. Waiting for a BFP to know gender. I think I'll POAS at 7dp5dt and really try to stick to that.

We also discussed other options if this transfer doesn't work.

    1) Our RE is willing to transfer abnormal PGS embryos. One thing we earned today is that the "abnormal" embryo we got from this last cycle which was only reported as "multiple chromosomal abnormalities" he thinks is potentially normal. I guess that if it truly was affected, it wouldn't have made it to 5 day blast for biopsy. Makes me wonder why you even do PGS, but I guess it's to avoid transferring a viable abnormality like T13/T18/T21.

    2) Retrieval #4: He thinks it's very realistic to get another normal (maybe 2) out of another retrieval. I think DH and I have to decide if we are up for this.

So I started estrace last night. And here we go...

My nurse called in the prescriptions to three pharmacies, so I can compare pricing. Guess this is really happening!
We go Wednesday for our visit to go over instructions, and sign paperwork and consents.
I will be on a no birth control start, so will start meds on cd2 next cycle. I’m nervous and excited!
