@Shutterbug: Wow its moving along. I am excited for you to get everything started. AFM- we have an appointment the 18th of January. We are meeting with a new doctor because we decided to go the mini IVF route so I am not sure his plan yet so it may be February when we actually start the cycle.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: good luck!!!
@OMM4: oh yay! Good luck!
@Leialou: I hate, hate this for you. Take some time to heal, and we'll be here to fire up this thread again when it's next your turn!
@Shutterbug: yay!!! Good luck!!!

@Shutterbug: yay! Good luck! So exciting to finally get started, right?

@Shutterbug: woohoo, so glad it's all starting! How is the Gonal F going for you? I forget, are these your first injectables?
I have a monitoring appt tomorrow. There's a snow storm here so I'm not sure how that will work. I already called today and asked if I should be concerned about them being closed and she said "nope, we're always open. We were open during Sandy!" But I'm worried about how I'll get there!
I worry way too much.
Praying that tomorrow they give me a date!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Glad you have an appointment! Hope that the next 16 days go by quickly for you

@SweetiePie: oh gosh, good luck in the snow! We're in the thick of it right now (in MA) and my monitoring appt that was originally set for tomorrow morning was moved to Saturday. I drove there today for a different appt and the roads were crappy. These are my first injectibles, and so far so good!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: good luck with your appointment! I'll be interested to follow along with your mini IVF, I don't know much about it.

@Shutterbug: Thanks for checking in! Baseline ultrasound today and then in ~10 days (CD1), we start Vivelle patches. Hopefully FET by end of Jan/beg of Feb! Anyone familiar w/the Vivelle patches? Any fun side effects I can expect?

Cross-post from the IF Check-in thread:
I have a date! FET scheduled for next Wednesday 1/8 at 1pm. That was the date I figured out in my head so no huge surprise, but it feels good to have it down in the books at the RE office. I start oil injections and crinone suppositories tomorrow.
I've never looked forward to a Wednesday so much!

@SweetiePie: Wishing you lots of luck!! Wednesday will be here before you know it! Is your DH giving you the PIO injections?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@spaniellove: well, I have myself my IM trigger shot. So I guess I'll do the PIO myself. Unless you think that's a bad idea???
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@SweetiePie: wow you gave yourself an IM shot?? You're a bad@ss! I can't even do the sub-q myself LOL
honeydew / 7916 posts
@SweetiePie: If you have the dexterity to do your own IM shot, then by all means! Are you doing it somewhere other than your hip/butt? I tried reaching around one night when DH was late and just couldn't jab my own butt.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Shutterbug: haha, badass probably isn't accurate. I was saying "ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod" over and over as DH stood there and cringed.
@spaniellove: I just stood in front of my full length mirror and did it! I wouldn't be able to if I was lying down.

@SweetiePie: @spaniellove: if our next IUI is unsuccessful, we'll be going to IVF. I already know that I'll be doing my own shots. DH is terrified of needles.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@bluestriped bee: I'm here if you need tips By then I'll be a pro!
To be honest, the IM injection seemed easier than the subQ. I don't know, the needle seemed sharper and thinner and I barely felt it. I felt sore the next day (like I worked out just one quadrant of my right buttcheek) but the injection itself was easy peasy.
I just stood in front of the full length mirror. I slightly bent the leg of the cheek I was injecting to relax the muscle (but kept my toes on the ground for balance) and plunged right in!
I could see how it might be difficult for some - it wasn't the easiest position for me to be in. But it wasn't impossible or super uncomfortable.
I'm excited for you either way...either a BFP or on to IVF I know you've been eager to do IVF for a while now!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@bluestriped bee: Aww I hope you don't get there, but all the shots except maybe the trigger are subcutaneous and easy to do in your belly. And if you really have a hard time with your trigger your clinic might be able to work around that.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@SweetiePie: @spaniellove: cool, thanks for the tips! At this point, I'm not that hopeful that this IUI will work. I am more excited about IVF.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@bluestriped bee: all of my shots, even the trigger, are subcutaneous. Even after 2 days I feel like I could maybe do it myself and I'm terrrrrrified of needles.

Ok, this is a question for anyone who has done intramuscular progesterone in oil, but calling out @spaniellove because I know you've done it!
Was it particularly hard for your DH to push the plunger down while he was injecting the oil? All of the other shots I've done, I had to be careful not to push TOO hard on the plunger because it moved really easily. For this oil (I just did it) I had to push REALLY hard on the plunger to get it to go in. It almost made me a little bit worried that I did something wrong. But it did eventually all go in, I just had to force it (again, the plunger that pushes the medicine, not the needle...the needle went in fine).
Thanks to anyone who has experience!
ETA: I just did a quick search and the first "real person" video I found was a woman who said that there's a lot of resistance with the PIO injection so its hard to tell if its moving. That's exactly what I experienced so I feel a lot better!

@OMM4: I did the Vivelle during a couple of my IUIs. It was fine except for TONS of EWCM. I had to wear a liner all the time. But it did help thicken my lining. Good luck!!! So excited for you!

@SweetiePie: Eeek!!! Yay for Wednesday!!! You impress me with doing your IM shots, way to go girl!

Also, while I'm at it, when I start the Crinone gel vaginally, will I need to wear liners? Just trying to set my expectations straight. I have to start taking it tonight before bed. Glad I'll at least be laying down for a few hours afterwards, but will I still need a liner the next day?
honeydew / 7230 posts
@SweetiePie: I don't think mine was crinone, but I did some kind of vaginal progesterone suppositories. I needed liners overnight, but was usually fine the next day without one. If you don't have any in the house I would definitely grab some to at least wear at night! I had tons of leakage even though I took it right before bed and was laying down all night.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@twodoghouse: Ahhh ok. Thanks so much for responding! I think I have some.
How have you been feeling, btw? How many weeks now?!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@SweetiePie: I'm just over 21 weeks and have been feeling really good so far! Thanks so much for asking. I can't wait until you're on this side of it!
clementine / 770 posts
@SweetiePie: I did the crinone twice daily, and yes I wore liners all through. Day and night.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@SweetiePie: Sorry, I'm just seeing this now! He says it was a little harder to push the plunger because the oil is thick. I remember it taking a long time and I would have to stand there for a while waiting for him to be done. After a while I started to warm the syringe in a heating pad for a minute after I drew up the oil (but not to the point of being hot! You don't want to be injecting hot oil!) and he said that made it a little less viscous. I just wanted to avoid lumps/muscle knots afterward. You really rock for doing your own IM shots!!!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Apex: @spaniellove: thanks Loves!
And by the way how are you both feeling? How many weeks??? I still like to see updates from you even though you're not in the thick of IVF anymore
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@SweetiePie: I didn't use Crinone (yet, I will this cycle) but with Endometrin I used it twice a day and definitely needed liners. Sometimes at night I could get away without them, but not during the day.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@SweetiePie: yes, I do Crinone after my IUIs and liners are a MOST...lol
