Thanks, everyone!
@thisisme: Yep, we decided to do the study and we confirmed with our RE today that we can always drop out of the study and push for Day 5 if we do change our minds and think it will be best. My reason for IVF is due to having only one tube and it is filled with fluid. (Other tube was removed during a big fibroid surgery I had in 2010. He had to remove the tube since it was entangled with a huge fibroid. I had a dozen removed in all, and then later we found out that the remaining one was filled with fluid.) That's the short story.

@Jenn23: I am a lurker on this thread but it looks like you and I could be cycle buddies. It will be our first IVF for our first LO

@Shutterbug: Did any make it to the freezer?
@Jenn23: Great news. Glad you are moving forward with the IVF study.
As for me, I got AF over the weekend so I'm doing some diagnostic tests (CD3 u/s, clomid challenge, HSG this week) at the new RE but if everything looks good, I should be doing an IVF cycle next month ish.
Oh, I cancelled my last appt with my old RE! Woohoo! Good riddance!

@bluestriped bee: exciting!! I think if this cycle doesn't work I may go for a consultation at another clinic, even though I love my RE. The other clinic has a much lower % of "unknown factor" on their SART data, and to me that means they do more to find a diagnosis for patients. As for my embryos, I forgot that they don't call, they send a letter. I found out on day 6 last cycle because I called. Finding out none survived made me really upset, so I decided I'd just wait for the letter this time. I'm assuming none made it, and if they did then that's just icing on the cake.

@Shutterbug: Is the other clinic mine (RSC New England)? I loved my RE if you're thinking of switching to them.

@ShootingStar: Yes! I'll wall you if I do decide to make an appt with them.

@ShayNanigans: Thanks!
@mrswin: Oh, that would be great! When are you expecting to start the cycle? I don't have a set date yet, but should in the next week or so. Good luck!!
@bluestriped bee: Thanks. And you good luck with your cycle next month! I'm glad you found a new RE that you like!

Lots of my HB favorites over here, so I'm trying to catch up so I can support you all. I'm rooting extra hard for everyone going through this and learning a lot from what you share.
@Jenn23: that's really cool that you're doing this through a study. Are there any factors that they can't share with you, or is everything up front? How old is your LO now?
@ThisIsMe: I saw your wee babe ultrasound picture. How amazing! Have you been back for US #2?
@Shutterbug: @ShayNanigans: just waving *hi*
@MrsWin: do you have a working timeline for things now?
apricot / 305 posts
@Happygal: Yes! Ultrasound #2 was today! Everything is still going well. Baby is up to 9mm, and I finally get to stop the PIO injections! Thanks for asking! I'm definitely still stalking the IF thread, and glad to hear that your laproscopy went well!

@thisisme: that's great news--both for baby and PIO injections! Those PIO injections sounds like a PITA.

@Happygal: @Jenn23: I don't have a schedule or a protocol yet so I'm not 100% sure but based on my regular cycles, early June is the soonest we could start after we get back from our trip
persimmon / 1085 posts
@Happygal: My son is 18 months tomorrow. The study is Afolia vs. Gonal F and I will receive the meds for one or the other. It's the 3rd phase of the trial and the first two phases Afolia worked just as well as Gonal F so whichever I take should produce the same results. Once this trial is over Afolia will be released on the market. I think about 10 clinics around the U.S. are doing this particular study and my clinic is one of them. Any ladies over 35 on here that are interested in IVF, check to see if your clinic or one near you has this study. It is going until 2015 I believe.
@mrswin: That's probably when we will start too, since my husband gets back from a business trip the end of May. So excited! What is your diagnosis? Why IVF? Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any questions, as I went through this two years ago.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Jenn23: he is cute. We're not at IVF yet, but it's on the horizon. I looked up that trial. The closest one is in Norfolk. I'm glad that can work for you all!

@Happygal: Does your clinic have any other studies? Some clinics offer quite a few! Worth checking out!
@thisisme: Stopping the PIO injections is cause for a celebration! I remember how excited I was to be done with those!!

@Jenn23: I have DOR and diagnosed endo and we have MFI with low count. IVF now because 4 IUI's haven't worked and I am ready to go with something that should give us a higher chance of success. After 2.5 years we are both ready. I may participate in a study on endometrial receptiveness during my IVF cycle.
persimmon / 1085 posts
@mrswin: Will you do ICSI then due to the low count? My friend's husband has the same issue and both IVF's, they did ICSI and it worked. (She has two sons) Wonder if you will do the micro flare protocol. That is often a really good one for DOR! That sounds like an interesting study. Sorry you've been trying 2.5 years. I know it seems like forever. At least you know in just a few months you'll be starting IVF. I bet IVF will be successful for you guys!
nectarine / 2433 posts
We are leaning towards doing ICSI because it is only $1500 more and it seems like it would improve our chances of fertilization. Knowing we are moving onto IVF has helped ease the feelings like we aren't getting anywhere.
You must be excited to be trying for #2!

Well, BFN at 6dp5dt, and to top it off, now I have Shingles
I think we're going to take a break for a few months, and I may take a break from HB too (although I'll still be cheering you ladies on in your upcoming cycles!)

@Shutterbug: oh no! I'm so, so sorry. I echo @spaniellove: and hope it's just too early. Totally understand needing a break, and hope you know I'll very much miss seeing you around here! Take care of yourself--is there medicine to take for shingles?

@Shutterbug: oh no
I really hope it's too early. Either way, I hope you feel better. You've been through a lot. Big hugs, lady

@Shutterbug: also really hoping it was just too early to test. Have you had betas yet? Maybe baby is taking its sweet time to settle in for a good, long stay.
So sorry about the shingles. Hopefully, you caught it early enough and are able to do the treatment even though you still might be pregnant.

@Shutterbug: Just saw your news. I'm so sorry. I'm hoping it was too soon!! I'm so sorry about having Shingles, too. *hugs*
@mrswin: A friend of mine used ICSI both times and she also has DOR. Her husband had issues, but I forget exactly what they were, but their RE recommended ICSI. It worked both times for her. Definitely worth the extra $1500 in your case, I think. Yes, excited about #2!
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Shutterbug: I'm so sorry. Are they doing anything to treat the shingles?
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
Ok, I'm jumping in. DH and I went through IVF with ICSI in September 2012. I was pregnant with twins but lost one to vanishing twin syndrome. Our awesome DD, R, was born in June 2013.
I had a surprise pregnancy in February and subsequent miscarriage in March.
We have 7 frozen embryos from our IVF cycle. We meet with our RE tomorrow to discuss a FET in June or July!
clementine / 770 posts
@swedishfish: Welcome back, How much did your clinic charge to freeze your embies per year?
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Apex: we prepay for the entire year for $600. If we paid month to month the year would cost $1200.
