1st ultrasound went great today! We got to see a little pulsing heartbeat!
I am super bummed that I still have to keep doing the PIO injections. The doctor said probably till 12 weeks! You can bet I'm totally going to look at this picture now every night while doing the shots!
Baby is 2.5mm long and is the faint white dot at the tip of my finger. The yolk sac is underneath.
We go back next week for US #2!

@tequiero21: I never thought i was going to ever consider being team green too, but i guess it just happened. DH is unusually excited about waiting too, so it makes it easy for me.

@littlek: just got my fert report... 8 out of the 19 fertilized. I have no idea whether all 19 eggs were mature or not. I'm feeling a little discouraged right now, just because this is the same number of embryos we had with our last cycle. I'm hoping that they'll fare better than the last batch, but we'll see.
clementine / 770 posts
@Shutterbug: 8 is an AWESOME number to go with. Don't get upset yet, i'm sure its going to be great at the end of the day. Are you going for a 3 day or 5 day?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Shutterbug: let's hope this protocol got better quality eggs! I had only 8 fertilize too and it was out of 19 too so the percentage seemed kinda low! But I got two babies out of it and all six froze, so let's fx that u get the same results!
apricot / 305 posts
@Shutterbug: 8 sounds great! It's so hard not to think about percentages, though. You'd be thrilled with this news if they had told you they'd gotten only 10 eggs, though. I also think it's hard to believe that 19 eggs could all be mature at the same time. I had a hard time interpreting the results they told me, too. Hang in there!

My update. We saw the other RE yesterday and I'm looking forward to switching. It will delay our timelines by a month but I think it's for the best. I don't want to give any more of my money to my current clinic.
The current clinic's policy of not allowing other RE's to see you when your current RE is out is pretty rediculous. It's a huge inconvenience to wait for your RE to get back from vacation/mat leave. The only thing that would help in staying would be my IVF cycle would start earlier.
The New RE does not have that policy, but would like to run some additional diagnostic tests that haven't been run yet. The RE does not want to do any more IUIs because he saw from my charts that its not working and IVF would be next. Which is what I wanted. From reading my chart, RE thinks that I might have a mild PCOS w low egg supply because of my longish cycles and history of low AMH. That is the first time I've been given a possible diagnosis! He would like to run a test to test his theory. He didn't give me timelines since he wants to wait but it might be looking like my IVF will be in May. I know if I stayed with my current RE, I would know if I was pregnant by Mother's Day. I think that's the only part that makes me think I should stay. The one chance to get pregnant in April. Also, Cheri22 (TTC psychic) said I would conceive, give birth or get good news in April.
I do feel better with the new RE. I need to talk to the DH and see how he feels about today's consultation. He had to leave early to catch another dr appointment, so we weren't able to discuss our next steps.
So stay with current RE and start IVF this next cycle (AF is suppose to come tomorrow) or go with new RE and delay by one month.
Oh, my accupuncturist said a bunch of her patients were referred to the new RE after not having other REs work. So that is a very good sign!
Oh, DH said he liked the new dr and office better, too. They seem to not care about money. Like DH just got a sperm analysis and blood test at the current office. They could have made DH redo it there, but said they could wait for the results to be sent over. Also, I asked about my out of town work trip at the end of the month. They said that I could get my blood work done in that city if I had to. I know my current office had me delay my cycle because I was out of town.
Everything is really looking good for the new RE.

@Shutterbug: I had 8 fertilize in my IVF cycle. That is a great number! Are they planning a day 3 or day 5 or do you not know, yet? So exciting!!

@bluestriped bee: Reading your update, I definitely would move on with the new RE you just met with yesterday. Sounds like he will be much better and is offering a possible diagnosis and plan of action. I know it stinks to have to wait another month, but it'll be worth it if you like the RE better! Have you had your AMH checked? And FSH? He mentioned possible low ovarian reserve. What are the numbers? I have dealt with that w/ IVF so I'm curious as to your numbers and what he'll recommend (which protocol) for IVF.

@Jenn23: I actually just got the call that I meet the criteria for a day 5 transfer, so Monday it is! She said all 8 are still developing.
@tequiero21: thank you, that's very encouraging, considering the great results you had
@bluestriped bee: glad you had a good experience with your new RE! It sounds to me like you should switch. I'm considering getting a second opinion if this cycle doesn't work. I am a little resentful of the "unexplained" diagnosis, and I feel like they could/should do more testing to get to the bottom of our issues.
